Oh boy, as soon as that Marquette player let go of that nice-looking game-winning attempt, the thought of "USF gonna USF" ran through my head. Definitely as close as it gets to losing. Can't believe we got a nice thing.

Without getting political I think Will Weatherford was some high ranking conservative so not everyone there is what you are calling woke.
Isn't conservative the opposite of woke?
Too conservative would mean too anti-woke, no?

Wait, all of our major sports are some of the worst in the country for several seasons now?
If only there was some sort of administrative individual who should be held responsible for all this failure who maybe we should part ways with. Maybe someone who not only hires failures and inexperienced coaches but also extends them for failing with even more money.
If only…

It's hard to argue "don't watch" when you post every single "hype" tweet by USF Athletics on this board for us to look at.

And what Offensive Coordinator awards or finalists did CJS make? I'll wait on that one.
Alex Golesh is the 247Sports Offensive Coordinator of the Year
Alex Golesh turned Tennessee into the darling of college football with an electric...Uhhh

Also, CAG actually called plays as an offensive coordinator for the country's #1 offense.
This is debated:
Who will call plays for Tennessee’s offense? It’s a secret for some reason.
Tennessee coach Josh Heupel and offensive coordinator Alex Golesh declined to identify the offensive play-caller heading into Tennessee’s opener against Bowling...In fact, many Tennessee fans did not feel as though Golesh was a huge loss because they believed he did not actually call plays.
So if that's true, it makes Golesh's inexperience even more glaring.
And yeah I guess we'll agree to disagree, but on paper alone, CJS's resume is better than Golesh's. Being the TE coach at Toledo/Illinois/Iowa State/UCF doesn't move much of a needle.

I compared the resumes side by side -
CJS -
2006 Blythewood HS (HeadCoach)
2007 Presbyterian (WR)
2008 Clemson (WR)
2008–2014 Clemson (WR/RC)
2015–2019 Clemson (co-OC/WR)
CAG -
2021-22 Tennessee Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends
2020 UCF Co-Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends
2016-19 Iowa State Tight Ends/Recruiting Coord.
2015 Illinois Tight Ends/Special Teams Coord.
2014 Illinois Running Backs/Tight Ends/Recruiting Coord.
2012-13 Illinois Tight Ends/Recruiting Coord.
2009-11 Toledo Tight Ends/Recruiting Coord.
2008 Oklahoma State Graduate Assistant
2006-07 Northern Illinois Graduate Assistant
2004-05 Ohio State Student AssistantApples and oranges.
The best place Golesh has coached besides his one year at Tenessee has been UCF (gross), for one year as a Co-OC. That's not impressive at all.
Sure CJS had spent most of his time at just Clemson, but he was part of a transformation from a mid-major ACC to a top-tier blue chip program and has a couple of National Title rings - one as co-OC - to go with his resume. Clemson was not what it is today until Dabo came along, let's be honest. So this whole "Clemson recruits itself with blue chips" is something that became a thing only within the last decade.
Obviously, CJS was in over his head and he will probably go down as one of the worst fbs HCs in history, but if you were to give me those two resumes in paper alone, the one with the NCs and the rebuilding background is way more attractive as a candidate. Coach Go might be even more of a risk than CJS was, which is scary af.

I really hated that excuse last year
We have an incredibly easy schedule. An average team with our schedule makes a bowl game. We should expect the same.
No more losing, no more excuses. We need to make a bowl this year.
We are at year one of rebuilding the worst fbs team in the nation.

If you take the worst defense of his 17 year DC career its still 10 PPG and 100 YPG better than USF's defense last year.
USF under Scott: 2020 39.9 ppg, 2021 34.7 ppg, 2022 41.2 ppg
Orlando’s career as DC:
UConn 75 games; 21.9 ppg
FIU 25 games; 25.3 ppg
Utah State 28 games; 18.4 ppg
Houston 27 games; 22.0 ppg
Texas 40 games; 24.9 ppg
USC 18 games; 29.8 ppg
FAU 12 games; 26.7 ppg
Seems like other than USC he's been an above average DC
Curious what would be Bob Shoop's career averages at all his other stops compared to last year at USF?
That would seem like a more accurate comparison between the two.

My faith is in this man to fix our atrocious defense. You are doing God's work coach Todd.
Well, let's just hope every other fanbase is wrong about this guy.
Opinion: Whether now or at season’s end, USC must move on from Todd Orlando
UCLA’s embarrassment was just the latest episode in a disastrous season for the defensive coordinator.--

Here's to him proving all the doubters wrong.

This is what i am hoping as well. But if Golesh ends up shyting the bed, Kelly shouldn't be allowed to hire a third coach IMO.
If Golesh doesn't pan out there might not be a program left to hire a coach for.
Our existence relies on Kelly's 2nd hire of a young inexperienced head coach. Welp.

Wow.
Watching CAG's NSD presser.
He is not holding back about what he was left with and what he went after!
Threw out "borderline criminal" and "negligent" to describe things.
Haha he actually has a pretty good sense of humor.
"We're gonna have a player intersquad softball game by class, and then the winning class plays the coaching staff. After the coaching staff wins, then we're gonna get started with winter workouts and..."
Said it nonchalantly and didn't even pause to acknowledge the joke, and it seems like the press missed it.
Pretty intelligent guy.
Breath of fresh air from xCJS's overbearing southern hospitality demeanor.

Matt Birkett Named Cornerbacks Coach For USF Football - USF Athletics
Brings 16 years of experience to USF.Not a great resume at all. Let's hope he's better than his resume suggests
The 25 year old O-line coach? Yeah, his eye-sore lack of experience is worrisome. Oh wait, you mean the QB Coach/passing game coordinator? Yeah, seems like the ISU fanbase is glad we took him away. Oh wait, you mean the D-Coordinator? Yeah it seems like the FAU fanbase hated him. Oh wait, you mean...
Kidding, kidding.
Btw, I'm joking. Let's give Coach Go the benefit of the doubt. I hope his work-a-holic nature rubs off on the rest of the program from all the coaches down to the players and waterboy. GBs.
