I**EDIT** Oh and now I am seeing this maybe never happened. So even less of a problem.
From where are you getting this information besides Brad’s one comment?
I’m sorry, I get roasted all the time by the mods for not presenting substantiating information to my claims and now feel the need to do the same.
The only still existing proof is a legit report saying he did.

I also can't find any source that repudiates his "most powerful man in the building" statement. Dude probably thought he was untouchable at that point in his career, and some on here probably agree.
-
Yes, please, let's go the washed-up NFL coach route ala Bill Callahan at Nebraska. That always works. Please include extra PR racist, homophobic baggage in 2022. What could possibly go wrong?

it's amazing to me that people don't appreciate what Taggart did here.
kind of like gator fans who can't stand urban meyer
I guess rebuilding a program and winning doesn't matter to some
Honestly,
His contribution demonstrating that you CAN build a hell of a football team at USF post-CJL is huge. Keeps the hope alive for a good amount of fans that we are not totally doomed for eternity.

Prediction:
The team rallies around Coach Da Patro and Coach Sims, and we go undefeated. We put up 70 on UCF, and the Big 12 takes back their invite. We give CDDP a lifetime extension and go into the CFP after upsetting Alabama in 2023. Saban is so humiliated he decides to become our D Coordinator to learn under a genius football mind. We all live happily ever after.
What else could happen?

Whoever we hire, just keep an eye out for Joey Knight's prediction. He'll probably be right.

If we keep flip flopping from an offensive minded to defensive minded coach we will never have sustained success. look at UCF. They hire offensive minded guys and have plenty of success.
+10000
That has been one of our biggest issues as a program. We need to pick one - offense or defense - and focus on it with every HC hire here on out. Might've been a problem with Skip (offense) after Leavitt (defense) and definitely from Taggart (offense) to Strong (defense).
I remember reading Bud Foster was going after the USF job after Leavitt got fired and thinking that would've been an amazing choice as it would've kept the whole 'tough defense first' mentality going. But instead, we keep flip-flopping our identity.

And you get to live in Tampa Bay, which is the best area in the state of Florida.
As you can see from my avi, I was raised in (the real) south Florida, but Tampa Bay is the best place to live in Florida by far.

High energy, relatively young, AND likes to butthead players with helmets on?? (Sounds familiar).
The main argument against Herman is that he is a bit of an *******, but according to some on here, our most important HC in history also had that going for him. Also, I'm done with the 'family friendly' HC ala Skip and fCJS. That's not who we are or who we should be.
-
Alright, I don't mean to bring negative energy, but some of these names should not be our next HC:
Scott Frost - Buddy has had ONE winning season in seven years as a Head Coach. You want to talk about lightning in a bottle? Frost ain't the guy.
Tom Allen - I get it; the defense that one year looked good, but the guy has not been a successful head coach at Indiana besides 2019/2020 - 2020 as we know, the whole world was on its head. He has gone 5-16 the last two seasons. And yes, Indiana is a tough job for any head coach, but does he really inspire confidence of success as HC?
Manny Diaz - The turnover chain overrated this guy to hell and back. He was fired for awful defenses during the season in places like Texas and failed at UM. Not what USF needs.

What are thoughts on this?
Wouldn't say Herman failed at Texas, he won a NY6 bowl and has never had a losing season as HC.
-
If we hire a rethread who failed at the P5 level it will be a huge disappointment.
Are there any remnants of the Gulf Coast offense not named Willie Taggart still out there?
-
NO RETHREADS - Mullen, Frost, etc.
NO COACH WITHOUT HC EXPERIENCE - Doug Belk
NO HEAD COACH WITHOUT WINNING EXPERIENCE - Jason Candle
Just someone with winning HC experience at a lower level, familiar with FL recruiting experience. IT'S NOT THAT HARD.
-
He's a good man, just not a good head coach.
Now please please please Michael Kelly, hire someone with winning HC experience who can recruit the bay!

Briefly.
It only worked briefly because we decided to hire a bumbling defensive-minded coach who wanted to slow the offense down right away followed by.
Would've worked longer had we hired someone ala Josh Heupel like our former little brothers out east after Frost.

Did he put them on the hook for more money?? I agree the blanket extensions were ignorant at best and more like malpractice however I am not sure the buyout changes though for Scott.
Assume the worst.

I concur in saluting @puc86about being right regarding CJS since the start.
Not gonna lie, CJS just struck me as Skip Holtz 2.0 since the start.
Out next coach needs to be an *******, CJL-like. Or at least some kind of fire in his belly. Even Taggart had a “we will run up the score on anyone, idgaf” mantra that seemed to resonate with recruits, and eventually the team gained that kind of personality with great success. Please no more “family friendly” type coach.

I’d like to see Tyson Helton get a shot.

Y’all aiming too low.
Fire Michael Kelly.

Jeff Scott is a mole hired by UCF.

What is possibly holding you back at this point?

Except we have fewer than we had in recent weeks, I sort of doubt we hear that excuse.
In that case, what would be an excuse for this embarrassment?

I'm not saying 'pity me,' I'm just holding you to the same standards as all the other posters who make claims without sources besides themselves. Who was the player that negated it? I believe in the report it says that he said it to Ben Busbee or Grothe, so it had to be one of them. Otherwise, the other players have nothing to negate.
