  1. With that schedule it's very possible that USF will be underfeated going into BE play. It would be nice to have played a National power or 2 because I think USF will have a team that can play with just about anybody, .
  2. It is a more talented team, a different team, but should really be good. I will mis Anderson too.
  3. Me too, but I guess they don't like getting a root canal. It's a weak schedule no ifs ands, or buts about it. Of course Heath will label the non-conference schedule strong because he always does that and unless 1 of his teams is invited to a strong tournament, his schedule will consist of low and mid major schools. The high majors that he usually gets are the Auburn and Georgia types. Very, very rare does Heath want to play marquee opponents.
  4. I thought that Coach Heath has the final say in the schedule, but I could be wrong.
  5. I think he ends up being a 4 star player and gets honorable mention for the McDonalds All American game. If Egbunu was really 7ft tall he would be ranked higher as a center. If he had a face the basket game then he could be labeled a PF which would place him near the top the class of 2013.
  6. *The most mind-boggling sight over the first three days of the camp – John Egbunu (McDonough, GA, Eagle’s Landing) of the Lakers’, listed at 7-0, playing defense against the Thunder’s Mamadou Ndiaye (Huntington Beach, CA, Brethren Christian) Friday night on Court 2. Ndiaye, who is originally from Senegal, is listed at 7-5 (he said he is 7-4). And Ndiaye towered almost comically over Egbunu, another African (Nigeria) by way of New York and now Georgia, who is already committed to the University of South Florida. If Egbunu is truly a 7-footer, then Ndiaye might be closer to 7-7. My guess: Egbunu is closer to 6-9ish while Ndiaye is, at least, every bit of his claimed 7-4. Egbunu did do a pretty good job of side-fronting the big, big fella. But a teammate was able to arch one pass over the top of Egbunu on the left block and into Ndiaye’s hands and, upon the catch, turned along the baseline and reversed dunk with two big, big hands – hanging onto the rim and drawing a technical for effect, much to the delight, seemingly, of everyone watch from on the floor and in the stands. http://coachgeorgeraveling.com/nbpa-top-100-camp-day-3/
  7. Yet another recruiting guru's opinion: John Egbunu Egbunu was, in my opinion, the best big at the camp all day. The 2013 South Florida commit is a force in the paint. He’s big- 6’11â€-, he’s strong, and he’s athletic. He had 12 points and 10 points in the two games, respectively. http://recruitinghyp...ay-1-recap.html South Florida coaches should have a big smile on their face because their pledgee, 2013 7’0 C John Egbunu of Eagles Landing HS in McDonough, GA, is showing scouts and media people that he will be a candidate for the McDonald’s All-American Game with his stellar play so far this week… In game one he scored 12 points and pulled in 4 boards. In game two he scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds. http://xofan.com/bas...-camp-in-stats/ Stay tuned for more. So I like Egbunu!!! I fixed that for you. I like Egbunu too!!! P.S. Please stay with the flow Triple B, there's plenty of times in the future when you and I can get into a silly off topic squabble. Everybody knows why USF had to offer Davis a D1 scholarship. A good debate for you to start is will Egbunu move up to 5-star status while committed to USF? Clearly he is an elite level rebounder and finisher that deserves high accolades.

  9. An update on 2013 Team Breakdown (FL) guard Josh Heath's recruitment. His father, USF's Stan Heath, has offered yesterday. https://twitter.com/TheRecruitScoop/status/213419344389095425 Depaul, Northwestern, ECU, Princeton, GA Southern, North FL & Jacksonville have also offered.per Team Breakdown Head Coach..
  10. Plus, we will also have at the same time 6'11 Waverly Austin. That should be very intresting. I don't know...having Omog and Bunu on the floor at the same time will hurt the offense since neither can shoot outside the paint. Yes it will be interesting.
  11. We plugged John Egbunu into the latest update of the class of 2013 rankings and it looks like the South Florida commitment is there to stay. His seven-foot listing looks to be very generous, but he's a long armed athlete and animalistic offensive rebounder. Egbunu plays with energy and ferocity around the rim and has great physical tools. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1375598 Already have a nice surprise at NBA Camp. John Egbunu, a 6-10 post, is playing strong and scoring around the rim. https://twitter.com/EvanDanielsFOX/status/213294342125789184 John Egbunu has been a bright spot. I'm betting he's closer to 6-8 than his listed 7-0 but he's an animal on the glass https://twitter.com/ebosshoops/status/213290568283992064 Well at least the rest of the recruiting world has seen what a beast Egbunu is at rebounding and finishing at the rim. Also I glad that everyone now knows he's not 7ft tall but 6-10 isn't bad.
  12. Coach Coley is doing an awesome job recruiting at Providence. They have 1 of the top classes coming into the BE and that's no surprise that Harris is going there. We see if Harris can improve while sitting out a season, but Prov is definitely a program on the rise. Hopefully the effort in recruiting can pick up for USF. I'm very surprised that our recruiting hasn't been any better so far. Hopefully things pick and fast as these kids are already eliminating schools.
  13. That's what Texas and Baylor are there for. The program has momentum from getting to the 2nd rd of the last NCAAT. How about capitalize of that with a premiere opponent from the Big12 like Baylor or Texas which both provide USF a chance to play a non-conference game on National TV. In 2 days we have learned that USF will play UCF and Okie St. Neither of those teams generates any National exposure and both games are against teams that have minimal gain from winning and provide no buzz Nationally.
  14. Well he seems anxious to get it over with, so an announcement is imminent. Got a feeling it's going to be USF, with my Dark horse being PROV.
  15. This thread is almost 2 years old! We just happen to have a second chance with Tyler because his Dad feels like there is less competition at the SF spot at USF then it would have been at NC State.
  16. Long story so just click the link to read. Despite a dominant spring, Kameron Williams still an underrated prospect http://articles.balt...s-aau-hard-work A skinny 6-1 SG is no stranger to Heath. Williams reminds me of Patrick Beverley who Stan recruited at Arkansas and was a dynamite freshman scorer in Heath's last season as Razorbacks HC.
  17. Team Breakdown big man rising this spring One of the fast rising big men this spring is 6-9 230-pound Antravious Simmons from South Miami High and Team Breakdown. Simmons is a physical low post scorer and rebounder who impressed us with his play this spring for Team Breakdown. We recently spoke with his AAU Coach Kenny Gillion about his recruiting. “He has offers from Alabama, VCU, Georgia, Mississippi State, Marshall, Clemson, South Florida, and Miami (FL),†Coach Gillion told XoFan. “He also is hearing from Maryland, South Carolina, Syracuse, and Murray State.†He has made unofficial visits to Alabama and VCU, and will return to the Tide’s team camp in June and will do the same at South Carolina. Unless he finds exactly the right fit prior to July, we think his list will continue to grow and evolve as he looks for the right fit where he can come in and play right away…Something Coach Gillion said is important to Simmons. XOFan’s Ron Briscoe had a chance to see Simmons recently to and gave this look at Simmons “Antravious is a long and lean player with terrific offensive and defensive skills. He moves his feet well defending down low and he is quick to the ball when rebounding. He is a very good outlet passer and lane filler in transition.†“He likes to score facing or with his back to the basket, but he prefers to finish at rim level off the break. This rim shaker is an ace shot-blocker and rebounder. He’s runs the court well and he likes to bang down low.†Simmons averaged a hot 26.0 points and a smoking 15.0 rebounds per game this past season. This long and explosive insider will crack the top one hundred in our pre-summer update, that for sure and I expect him to make a statement this summer with his play with Team Breakdown…stay tuned for more updates on his recruiting as he moves toward making a decision this summer http://xofan.com/bas...ng-this-spring/
  18. Collins was considerably higher rated and regarded coming out of HS then Davis. Heath would never recruit Davis if Egbunu wasn't part of the package. Like I said earlier the fact that Heath is after so many guards for the 2013 class tells me the he doesn't highly regard Drew as a major contributor for USF. I would not be writing this stuff if USF wasn't trying hard to sign a complete backcourt knowing that Drew is already committed.
  19. That was already mentioned on the 2nd page of this thread. His ranking hasn't changed since. Since he lives with his AAU coach and his son, our other verbal, he appears to be a solid USF verbal. Well as long as USF doesn't pull Drew Davis' scholarship Egbunu will sign and play for USF fall after next. I doubt any other school, except for some Mid to Low majors will except the conditions that USF had to in order to get Egbunu, unless he can improve enough to be recognized as an elite level prospect over the next few months. He is an elite level rebounder already imo. I'm still hoping Drew Davis can prove the skeptics wrong and be an important piece for USF at some point in his career. I know you are unhappy with D Davis, but I'm not sure why. He certainly has been playing with elite competition around the world for several years on US teams and seems to be a very good outside shooter. I do understand that he is not a true point guard. Mama I'm not unhappy with Drew, I'm just looking at the fact that he's not even considered a top 25 prospect in the state of Georgia for the 2013 class. No pro or novice recruiting analyst, outside of the 1 or 2 that Linzy Davis can influence, even has Drew on their list of High Major prospects. Linzy Davis is also the reason why his son gets to play on 1 of the National teams that get to travel the world. However the main reason why I'm such a skeptic is Coach Heath's recruiting of PGs, Combo guards, and SGs for the class of 2013. The USF staff would not be so heavy after those kind of players if they believed Drew Davis is talented enough at this point to get meaningful minutes on the High Major level as a PG or SG. It's looking like USF is going to sign at least 2 more guards for the upcoming class. What Drew has going for him is he can shoot the open three but he's not a great athlete, ball handler, or defender at this point. I said before that he is likely a shorter version of Shaun Noriega. I do hope that myself, those that write about recruiting, and Coach Heath are proven wrong about Drew in the long run. I wasted scholarship is not a good thing.
  20. That was already mentioned on the 2nd page of this thread. His ranking hasn't changed since. 21. They did win 21 games the previous season. The 1 thing that UGA does have is size and talent in the backcourt. They don't have much fire power inside though.
  22. Yes, it should help our recruiting going forward, even though our "style" of play may not be for everybody. Hopefully as we bring more talent on board our style of play can evolve to one that will be able to put more and more points on the scoreboard. We had the talent to put more points on the board last season and certainly have the talent to do so the next couple of seasons. The defense will still be good but not the smart physical style that Anderson and Gus brought. Shot blocking and steals should go way up with the added additions. I'm waiting on the non-conference schedule to be released to see if Heath does indeed add some big name High Major opponents for some home/home series.
  23. Was hoping for Arkansas vs South Florida. Well at least UGA is a very winnable game and will generate a buzz in the state of Georgia with recruits.
  24. Joey Natale â€@Coast2CoastHoop 2012 Arlington Country Day (FL) PF Jordan Goodman has USF, Towson and Memphis recruiting him hardest at this point. Now Mr Goodman has quite the history of committing to schools, G'Town, Rutgers, TTU, and Maryland. Here is a article chronicling his commitments or lack there of. http://aol.sportingn...tb...texas-tech Mr Goodman is a very talented player and from a little research it appears that he has been listening to his handlers which has caused him to drop out the National spotlight and almost become a joke. Top 3 player in the state of Florida 2012 at one time, and easily a top 100 level talent Nationally for 2011. I trust that Heath and staff have done their research before going after Goodman. A couple of Videos from 2010 and 2008
  25. MAJOR CANADY HAS FOUR SCHOOLS STANDING OUT IN RECRUITMENT It's a long article so I'll just list some of the things that were said and the link afterwards will be for those that want to read the whole thing. Major Canady, a powerful and quick point guard measuring 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, from Kiski Prep near Pittsburgh (originally from North Carolina) has had a very good start to the AAU circuit playing with the Ohio Basketball Club. Canady, who counts being a creator on offense and a disruptor on defense as his best traits as a point guard, is beginning to develop a leading group in his recruitment. South Florida, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Tennessee are my favorites,†he said. “I have built great relationships with one or more of the coaches on their staffs and I feel they are genuinely interested in recruiting me. Also, I have always wanted to live in Florida for college so USF also has that going for them.†“My family and I are heavily leaning towards making our decision in August after the July live period,†he said. “The most important factor will be who I feel will provide the best environment for me while attending the school, and also who will best prepare me for life after basketball.†http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0531/major-canady-has-four-schools-standing-out-in-recruitment/
