  1. Makes sense. I graduate in may. Clint graduates in May. I'm going to FSU for grad school in the fall. Clint comes to USF for grad school in the fall. FSU is giving me a free ride. USF will give Clint a free ride. BOOM, even trade! ;)

  2. Nice to see! Don't worry, some negative Nancy will come on here to sour it up. TheBullsPen is full of pessimists and trolls.

Won't be too many re: the softball team.  They are for real.  For whatever reason they got off to a rough start.  But since then they've played very, very well.  Would not be surprised to see them back in the CWS again.  Offense seems a bit more potent this year and pitching is stellar.

Agreed. Softball is legit, no doubt. I think the rough start had to do with Ken figuring out all the new pieces and getting the right combination in the lineup.

And I'll be the Negative Nancy because I can take it.  Making it back to the OKC will be tough this year. The problem is that we will likely end up being sent to Gainesville for regionals again. There's a good chance it could be UF, FSU, USF, and FGCU/UNF/JU. I think it would a crime if that happened because of how strong that region would be, but I wouldn't put anything past the selection committee. I think we might need to run the table and win the BET (which is at USF *shameless plug*) in order to break out and host our own regional.

But as for their ranking, it's well earned and deserved.

    Spot on.

  3. A 3 game sweep over one of the worst teams in the nation really must have convinced the voters. They aren't even receiving votes in any other poll.

They also have Bryant University (#118 in the RPI) as the 30th best team. USF and Bryant have some of the longest winning streaks in the country at this point as well, hmmmm. Yet they don't have Mercer ranked. That's some BS. And I'm serious.

Hopefully they do keep that streak going, though. Need to beat some of the tough competition headed their way.

  4. New Orleans, Tampa, Orlando are better than Memphis

NOLA would prolly be good, but not likely to be much local support from Tulane fans. It'll have to be 90% out-of-towners, I'd guess.

Don't know about Orlando, but Tampa would likely be 80% empty unless we were in it.

And then it'd only be like 50% empty if we were in it! ;)

  5. He has said to me on twitter and has said numerous times that that he wants to be a dual-sport athlete. He wants to play BOTH football and baseball at USF.

Has any player of any significance done that with any success at any university? Wouldn't it pretty much keep him out of any Spring football practicing?

Jameis Winston is doing it at FSU right now... And by all accounts I've seen he won the starting QB job at FSU yesterday.

Winston is an amazing talent. Has potential to do some tremendous things on both teams.

  6. My brother in law (who holds a PhD from USF) grew up in Frankfort, KY and is a die hard Cards fan. Very happy for him and the school. I texted him simply saying "The Ville!" once they had it in hand, and received back "never thought I would see the day". Has to feel great! It's the year of the Cardinal.

  7. It really sucks that most of the posters left here are the one's who sing our dirge before we are dead. Before last years BB it was almost unanimous in here that our BB team sucked. And then, all those guys were first back on the bandwagon when we went dancing. See you in Omaha, boys.

Isn't the fact that I follow USFs crummy baseball program closely proof that I was never off the bandwagon in the first place?

And UL beat USF 10-1 on opening day, so our tar is already running a little low.

No, the fact that you call them "USF's crummy baseball program" , means you are off the bandwagon. So i guess a baseball team that loses it's first game should surrender the season? I guess the fact that Roy Halladay got shellacked this week means he's a "crummy" pitcher. If you knew anything about baseball you would know, "it aint always how you start, it's how you finish". Anybody that judges baseball based on one game or one part of the year, just doesn't understand how the game works.

Oh, and you might want to change your avatar. There is no such thing as BE FB any more.

Ah, yes, I know nothing about baseball! LOL. The fact that we lost on opening day doesn't mean we have a crummy baseball program. The fact that our last regional appearance was when our current best player was 8 years old is.

The only reason I brought up the UL game was because it seemed you didn't know they had already played. My mistake. I couldn't care less what my avatar is.

Anybody that thinks I am a troll is misinterpreting my intent. I am a baseball first guy. I would take a trip to Omaha over a final four basketball appearance 7 days a week. I have seen a lot of neat moments in my short time as a USF baseball fan. Koscsos walk off HR against Pitt in '09 (to secure a sweep against Pitt) and Fontanezs no-hitter in '10, to name a few. The one thing I want more than anything for USF athletics is for baseball to be successful, and I am not seeing that. I am also allowed to vent my frustrations on a public forum. I do not spin things or bait people like other members on here.

  9. Please tell me they didn't pile on last night. A bit premature...

Sorry but you must never have played BB. They scored 3 fricking runs in the bottom of the ninth to win. It happens like twice in your whole career. Pile on, heck I would be picking people up and throwing them. And tonight they scored again in the bottom of the ninth to win over the no. 26 team in the country. You guys really need a hobby if your criticizing a celebration over that. I guess this team doesn't fit the narrative of "we suck at everything" any longer. We are tied for 1st place in the BE with almighty UL. But I guess we suck at everything
Pitt is nothing special, they were ranked off of a gaudy record alone. Their RPI is 96. We are 7-2 in the Big East having played the worst big east teams on our schedule. Also, we are tied with UL but they would beat the tar out of us in 3 games (unless Herget would bring his A game). They proved that literally from day 1 of this season. We are not a bad team, but this program has underachieved a great deal and the scrutiny is warranted. They will rack up wins like last year, but those wins won't mean anything for an at-large bid. The only way this team gets in is with a conference championship.

Edit: don't care about the dog pile too much. A celebration is necessary, but things got a little carried away out there considering the circumstances haha.

  10. This team is Jekyll-Hyde. How do you lose a series to Georgetown, but take a series against a ranked Pitt team?  I still want Prado gone, but I'm starting to get excited because of our conference play.

Because Pitt is not a real ranked team. They were ranked on record alone. RPI at 89, with 3 of 28 games played against teams in the top 100 and the 222nd easiest schedule in the nation. That top 100 team was Towson, who is 14-16 but has played a respectable schedule.

  11. I didn't hear Hawkins give a reason but I was talking to my friend on the team and said "oh yeah, I heard Hawkins may be transferring". And he responded saying its basically definite and he's home sick and wasn't happy with how his play time dropped at the end of the season. We'll see if it works out like that.

  12. d Hawkins hopefully will develop (talented, but in my opinion needs work and a faster tempo to succeed) and you have 6 underclassmen that should contribute - building DEPTH. GO BULLS!

Hawkins is transferring. No link because nothing is official, but that is straight from Javontes mouth, and confirmed by another player on the team that I am friends with.
