  1. I would be fine with Harlan giving him a raise tomorrow if Willie offered to refund a portion of his original deal based on the body of work from his first two seasons. Seems like a fair compromise.

I've always heard that it was fair to give a coach three seasons to get a program back on track.  Right now it appears CWT did it in 2.5 seasons.

  2. Unfortunately November is the best month for her out of town family to attend, and the weather should be nice for an outdoor wedding. I haven't missed a home game since 2006, and she puts up with me and my obsession for USF...so if I have to miss a game I think I'll live. As my dad said "happy wife, happy life"

Your dad sounds like a wise man.  Just remember the green and gold garter.

  3. Anyone worried about their fans though? They are hot headed and some of the worst in cfb. They get to watch their miserable winless season end to USF I just wonder if they will be out for blood.

Exactly - while I love the sign ideas I'm seeing, no way I bring a sign into a rivals stadium!  Maybe one that supports my team, but not one trashing the home team.  Call me chicken or smart, but I just want to go see a good beat down and then get the heck out of there.

  4. Call it bush league, unsportsmanlike, rude, whatever you like, this is a multimillion dollar industry where you're constantly competing against others for resources in players, advertising dollars, sponsorship money, and more. If we have a national forum to completely crush a competitor who essentially shares the same market as us, then we should. For any team in Florida, especially, there is no reason not to absolutely dominate them if given a chance to do so without hurting ourselves. I'm not saying starters need to stay in if we're up by a significant amount, but there's nothing wrong with throwing the ball up by 30 in this circumstance. It's a chance for reserve players to get game experience with these types of plays, and it establishes dominance within the eyes of future recruits, fellow commissioners, bowl representatives, fans, donors, and many more. If we're to stop legitimately playing up by 30, then you should just enact a mercy rule and call the game. If we're up by 30, UCF will still be playing, and therefore so should we.

This isn't a hug factory. No one needs participation medals. These are young men larger than the majority of us with aspirations to play in a multi-billion dollar industry. Let them experience success and defeat and see if this is for them or not. There's nothing wrong with winning and it's a poor lesson to teach that winning by a large margin through legitimate channels and playing by the rules is a bad thing. Try that ish in the real world and see what happens. I say crush them by 70 if the third string is able to do so.

Well said.  Our growth starts with recruiting and we can't get near UF and FSU without ensuring that we've past UCF in that area.  It needs to be very clear to recruits that the future is much brighter at USF.  UCF has done enough on their own this year to make that point, but if we have a chance to put an exclamation point on it, we need to do just that.

So I agree with UCF and any other Florida team that recruits heavily in our area.  Any other team, I say sit the starters, run the ball, and kill the clock if up by 30.

  5. It would actually be the same division record that triggers the head to head comparison. The 3 way tie at 5-3 conference record with Temple looks at head to heads first and since none of the 3 beat both of the others, it then falls to division records and USF and UC both at 4-1 goes back to the head to head.

Thanks for the correction Trip, and I agree with Apis.  Let's just win them both and hope for the best (or worst for Temple).

  6. They are horrible at pretty much every aspect of the game. Looks like a high school football game with all those open bleacher seats.

High school indeed - as I mentioned on another thread, if we ever do get an OCS I hope our lighting is good enough to not have 4 shadows around every player on the field.

  7.

We still have a chance at the conference championship even if we lose Friday. If Temple loses their last 2 games and we win 1, I believe we're in. So yes, root for Memphis, even if we lose to Cincy.

But we would need Cincy to then lose their last game as well since if they would have the same conference record as us with a victory over us.

  8. I seem to remember looking at the student section trying to will them into rushing the field, and then after a pause the first student cleared the wall and looked back at the others as though he had been the butt of a cruel joke. But as the masses began to join him on the field I raised my last inch of warm beer to those down on the turf.  For they had delivered to the players our message loud and clear!

  9. I was on the fence and then calling for his head after he put Bench in and said after the game trying to justify it that he was honoring his word to Bench that he would play that series.

I'm glad no one in the front offices took action, but some of his turn around may be Harlan's doing as well. I don't care - as long as it's working.

I do like CWT, and looking forward to seeing how far he takes this team next year!

    GO BULLS!
