I'm not Matt, but I once stayed at a Holiday Inn Express...(ok, that joke is old)
He was running a version of the spread last year at Texas. The offense doesn't really need to change much at all from a mechanics perspective. If you want to slow it down a bit, slow it down and run the same plays. But part of that answer will come down to whether he keeps any O coaches, and if so which ones.
So let me add an additional Matt question, any hints or rumors about which O coaches may stay or go?
Wawa.... ;-)
Yep. I saw Matt was around recently during bowl game practice, so was just curious what the grumbles were. I think CCS ran a more typical spread at Texas. As I have stated previously, I loved how CWT utlized FL speed to out talented our opponents, but I think he was still far from perfecting his system. If our opponent was able to stop some of the bread and butter plays it could get ugly.

Im sorry guys but Im not sold.
:/
When I was a Gators fan before attending USF he never really convinced me as the DCoordinator and got blown out the only game he was head coach. It was more of Meyers offense rather than the defense that won those titles.
His record at Texas is an eyesore and you can argue that he won at Louisville because of his NFL caliber QB.
Granted he did recruit that QB to play for him at Louisville so theres that.
I dont know. His presser gave me the feeling that he took the job for the money.
I think we wouldve been better off with a HUNGRY head coach like postWKUera CWT. I just dont see it in CCS. Hope im wrong.
:/
Go bulls.
I think a lot of your points are validate....save the money argument. Not only was he going to make an easy 10 mil sitting on his arse if he so chose, its likely he could have made more money going to UO. The Jim got what again??

I perfer Stanford's Stadium. Two thirds of the stadium is under ground, you can use the earth for supports and that would really lower the cost. Exapansion is easy since the lower deck will not need strong supports. An upper deck wold be built like the lower deck of most other stadiums.
Can't tell if serious....FL, @sealevel = underwater
Sry @Buller64 I see other address this...didn't mean to pile on

From what I've heard, Woodie and Strong are pretty close. I'd think he would stay around. He can recruit.
Insider knowledge right there
Hey Matt how did you take CCS comment regarding slowing down the O to help the D? Do you think he plans on changing the run-first spread a bit?

Did anyone hear what he said about asst coaches? I had my kids waking up and jumping on daddy.

I took it as a joke considering he laughed as he said it.
Just bring us a defense that can get the ball back in our hands on O and we can score even more.
Sure he joked about gatorade...when he was talking about how O's are going to score now with the athlete's and QBs that can run and throw...that was the context surrounding the D conversation. He did gaffe on the gatorade and laughed about that.
We will see what happens.

Yeah it probably peaked at 1.3k halfway through and was sustained until the end.

I don't think the tempo thing was a joke. From the context of the presser it sounds like he believes there are so many athletes on O now, that the way you play O is part of D. You need to allow your guys go catch their breath on D and get hydrated.
Not really sure what this means for our O. Hopefully he keeps the uptempo O

Best momens of presser:
Gatorade gaff: CCS mentions getting D some 'gatorade' (crowd murmurs grumbles). CCS realizes what he did quickly states "I mean water they get water"
Shout out to CJL and CWT: Gives high praises and walking around campus with CJL when we were in the trailers. Talks about CWT highly and how hard it was for him to leave father figure and that he will step in and take over.
Players first: Repeatedly mention the great group of guys we have and how they come first. Not just in CFB but as people and getting them ready for life.
On Campus Stadium: ends on a high note and talks about the OCS. Says it makes since so players feel ownership of their house!
Go bulls!!

Flowers is still Flowers. That is all.
Flowers is a rhythm player IMO, I am not so confident that he will come out looking sharp this game after not playing several weeks.

Well they might have a coach in waiting if CWT doesn't work out

Oregon as LB coach where he will learn under Leavitt for a year or two and get another shot at DC then Leavitt gets his over due HC shot again.
In fact, Woodie might have what many consider to be one of the best defensive minds in CFB in CCS. Plenty he can learn if he is offered and decides to stay.
I know his family is here and I think it might be good for his career to do somethings away from CWT.

CWT and Leavitt have always been good friends and they kept in touch with each other frequently when CWT was coaching USF.
This hire seems like a no brainer to me.
They should compliment one another.
Agreed.

Some of his assistance have a similar contract to Strong so we are likely back loading their contracts as well.
Do we have a link for this? Would be awesome if true!

I simply took Brad's topic and rebranded it as my own ;-)
At some point I am going to sit down and figure out what type of CCS defense we should expect to see @ USF. I think it's a pretty safe bet we will see the an up tempo flavored spread for the O.

Brad posted it in its own thread around the same time you did... But yours has posts already so I guess it wins! It was a great article and I think he should definitely jog on the bay every morning, cant think of a better choice.

I particularly like the looks regarding what the O at Texas did under CCS, what it will look like at USF, and the D need for the American in comparison to the Big12.
Please do not paste this article as ANDY STAPLES deserves the traffic. Any local media paying attention ??
(If this is buried in some thread my apologies and feel free to merge mods)

Its very dependent on our OOC schedule. For example if we would have started this year ranked, winning against FSU and Temple might have been enough. But that's running the table which is hard no matter which conference you are in.
Assuming we win our bowl game, we will start off next year rank but our SOS is not so hot...so long shot again.
It's possible all the stars will align one of these years, but for now we need win and show up.

Expecting a 3-4 or 4-3 Defense ?
Either way, I expect a Top 25 D with our schedule.
Some info I found about CCS defense from none other than a Texas forum lol
