  1. LOL that schools not only pay millions to leave the BE, but they'll even pay EXTRA to leave early. Meanwhile Boise State keeps talking to MWC until they HAVE to sack up and decide if they will commit to the BE. BE is hot trash.
  2. The Penn State dome has two "mini" fields. Perfect for getting hundreds of boys out for flag football tourneys followed by a chance to meet the coaches.
  3. If he relents, people will think UCF had dirty hands in this matter. The fact that there was smoke to this fire over a month ago, you're probably right .... because it may be true. Please spare us THAT ********. The blame is squarely on UCF because they can simply rectify this with little or no damage done to them, but instead they're needlessly screwing with a young man's life ... Again, if there weren't some extinuating circumstances here, I wouldn't be that hard headed about it. If you're going to make stupid analogies, at least pick a similar talent .... and be sure to find one that had commited over a year prior to NSD. LOL that the internet tough guy that drags this thread to a halt is a moderator.
  4. If he relents, people will think UCF had dirty hands in this matter. Seriously, this is nothing more than a school's fans and boosters recruiting a kid that has an LOI to another school. Amazed to see the UCF haters rationalize a way to blame UCF for this BS. If this is cool, we might as well call Josh Grady . . . . . because his LOI to Vandy is apparently meaningless.
  5. UCF is in the right. "Friends of the program" in Louisville continue to recruit Smith despite his commitment. For UCF to give a release is to recruit a kid on their roster. The kid needs to put his hopes into the appeal process and the stfu. I would hope USF would do the same as UCF in this case.
  6. They have pulled four star athletes from Kentucky and Colorado. They are either headed to the big east or headed on probation. . . . . . . . my money says BE.
  7. If he were not local, he would be an anonymous hs qb that we were taking as a safety project. It also helps that our class is left without much 11th hour excitement IMO, a kid this soft and aloof may not have what it takes to lay a hit on a 230 lb bcs-level running back
  8. Its been a while. . . . . . Good luck to the young man in the future, wherever he chooses to attend.
  9. Wow. Whether this is true or not, we're gonna be made out to be a bunch of pu$$ies.
  10. If Holtz finds out, comments like those could get Gradys scollie pulled Actually Josh is a free man to do as he pleases. If I were Holtz, I'd think about pulling Matt in for a quick chat about social networking dos and don'ts since he is on the team now. Nothing too heavy, because the kid has yet to stick his foot in his mouth. . . . . but it looks like it might be worth it.
  11. Two more weeks to be the superstar and then Josh picks a school and starts all over again. He transforms back into a freshman that has to work his tail off to get reps. . . . . . seriously Josh, regardless of what the future holds, enjoy the recruiting process, you've earned it.
  12. The guys on this board hating on Smith are weak. . . . . . especially three years after he went pro. Fact is the kid was an excellent college player. . .who's upright running style gave him great vision and camouflaged his speed. USF has never had a running back as good as him. . . . . .don't care what you say about Andre Hall. It is also a fact that he was a productive running back on the worst professional team any of us have seen in our lifetimes (0-16). To continue to pile on after the kid has a career threatening knee injury (being drafted by the Lions was punishment enough) is simply unbecoming. Let it go guys.
  13. Wow, USF coaches look like used car salesmen in that case.
  14. No problem with USF academic standards. I do think we have to go overboard to accomodate these kids with regard to timing. . . . . . which means to put them on notice. Assuming the timing of this is controlled by the fact Thornton just finished his spring semester at hargrave and earned his final marks. . . . . . USF's committee should have the ability to take a kids partial transcripts in Feb. and lay it out to the kid in plain english WHAT HE WILL HAVE TO MAKE IN HIS SPRING MARKS to be able to enroll at USF. Either that, or the USF committee has to offer a final ruling on a kid in Feb. with the use of partial transcripts. . . . . .which really isn't practical because, for all we know, Thornton might have got his LOI in Feb and blew off class for the entire spring semester (what good is a partial transcript then). To do it like Thornton says we did it in this case (I agree there is a chance embarrassment may have him lying about how surprised he is by this) will eventually make our coaches look like snakes in the eyes of recruits.
  15. Actually he seemed like a funny, likable guy. Needs to change the battery in his smoke detector however. Did you hear that thing chirping every 30 seconds or so.
  16. It's foolish to look past anybody. Every USF fan should hope that the team is fired up and we get up big early and get deep into our bench and that we maintain a lead that allows us to (1) never get out of our base defense, (2) never have to blitz, (3) never have to run a trick play, and (4) have a 4 to 1 run/pass ratio . . . Auburn's game film on us will absolutely suck!
  17. I acknowledge this is out in left field, but Brenda Frese (HC of Maryland women) is a heck of a young, dynamic coach. Oh yeah, she's also coached a national champ.
  18. Sadly, our Mens BB problems now run deeper than wins and losses. We need a guy who can (1) resurrect the team and (2) have enough remaining energy to have a presence on campus and around the Bay area to rebuild our team's goodwill (ie. the job Bruce Pearl has done at UT the last two years). We should think about going young and also hiring a guy who is ready for a university that "longer on passion than it is on tradition".
  19. Hey USFMikeB: Two weeks till we WACK Mac. How's that for form?
  20. My take is that we suck with Mac, and if we fire hime, the worst we can do is continue to suck without him. Whether you hate Mac or not, Big East Basketball was WAY DOWN this year . . . and we were still eliminated from the conference tourney with two weeks left in the season. We suck folks. And we've sucked for a while. And we've sucked worse since Mac took over. Coaching is a results business and Mac's gotta go.
  21. Coach Mac got to take the guys to see Touchdown Jesus and the Golden Dome. As far as positives from the box score. . . besides Gransberry, nada.
