  1. MADD uses fear tactics to fiat laws on states. MADD is the reason the drinking age is 21. MADD is the reason the margin for DUI went from .15, to .12, to .10, to .08 in every state. MADD is singlehandedly ripping the rights of states to decide their own laws away from them. I agree that fighting drunk driving is a good thing, but MADD uses tactics of federalism and fear to mandate laws to states, blackmailing them into passing absurd laws in order to keep their access to federal highway funding. ummmm. thats kinda true ya'll. However, if ya'll lost a son or daughter to drunk driving.... not saying that they are right in HOW they go about things - but i understand WHY they go about things in this manner. And I don't see that changing any time soon.... Belle your right on the money. MADD has been trying to change us from a reprenstative republic into a dictatorship over many years. They are only recentlyseeing the fruits of that evil labor. For every kid they think they save, they relegate four times that many into perpetual servitude in which redemption is nonexistent. For shame!- Try and lose a relative or loved one to a drunk driver. Grothe was being irresponsible at the time and deserves some sort of punishment. I am sure he made and honest mistake and there is no need to crack down hard on him, but some of you trivialize the situation and MADD or what have you. Its a self-centered attitude and most people act that way until THEY become the statistic. Apparantely SOME of your fan base are as about mature and responsible as your players. Try not to be so self-centered in inconsiderate. There is a reason for law. Some people dont feel the need to get wasted and jump in the car. Those people die all the time due to people that DO get wasted and jump in cars. Is that fair? Thats why there should be laws to protect them.
  2. By the way. FSU signed 17 4-stars last year and 2 five stars. In order to surpass them you actually have to PLAY them.
  3. Despite what you think, UCF and USF are lumped into the same bucket all over the state. For the mass majority who are not as big football enthusiasts as we are, there is no distinction. Some of you all live in a fairy tale land where USF is this glorious, better school than UCF and you say its reality. Well, its not. ITs not UF, its not FSU, its not UM. Its a commuter school about 10 years older than UCF that has great research programs in a ****** part of temple terrace. UCF is a school that really doesnt have much to brag about but their computer science and engineering. They are both large public universities that will play second fiddle to UF,FSU,UM for a long time. I expect flagrant attacks for saying this and I wouldnt expect anything differnt, but its the truth. UCF has just as much recognition, fan-base, popularity as USF. Asante Samuel, Daunte Culpepper, Travis Fisher, Brandon Marshall (Baby TO who showed everyone up at the College all-star game)Shawn Jefferson, etc. We do have some name recognition. UCF has always been mediocre in all areas, but in the public eye so is USF. THERE IS NO DISTINCTION
  4. Possibly correct, but they should be. Because 1 or 2 of those programs is about to get passed by. In the very near future. Not to mention USF would have beaten UM and FSU in a head to head matchup last year (at least if game was played after first few games). You have to be joking!!! I am not calling you out because your a USF fan, but because you are delusional! Will Louisville or WVU surpass Miami or FSU? Let me explain something to you. You are talking about two programs that put STARS in the NFL. How many players has USF put in the NFL? How many players will USF put in the NFL in the next 5 years in the first round of the draft? FSU and UM had a down year. FSU had it because of bad coordinating and injuries, UM for other reasons. Maybe you should go see how many 4 star athletes those schools nabbed and talk the same way. Is it me or do you all just shoot of the hip and go by the seat of your pants? Werent you 6-6 last year. 1 good year in the Big East and now your going to surpass two of the best programs in recent college football history!!?! Teams that have 4,5, maybe more NCs and years of tradition? BTW, maybe you should look up the term consistency, sustainability, precedence, etc. I am not taking away from what looks to be an amazing team. With Mike Ford you all will kick some serious ass. I dont need to be told how bad UCF sucks because I know. But to think that you will in any way PASS FSU or Miami on a reasonably consistent basis within the next 10-15 years is silly. The Bulls have had alot of good fortune. Try winning games if Grothe goes down! Try winning games if Mike Ford goes down! The depth that FSU and Miami has is sick. You guys are just as delusional as some of our very own UCFers!
  5. Although they may finish strong USF, is right with FSU and UM in recruiting this year. You can go by rankings, and as of the 30th FSU was ranked 49th on scout, but has since moved up. Honestly there are a couple of Miami recruits that are highly overrated. USF's class is fantastic by most standards, and easily by our standards. I would say this is USF's best class by far top to bottom. I usually rate classes by what type of athletes you have in the bottom 3rd, in the past, and understandably so, we've had decent athletes and some fillers. This year especially is loaded with top notch talent, particularly adding in the early enrollees. Hey bullsmania, I always laugh at the ignorant, and I've got lots more adjectives to describe them but I will refrain so Brad won't come down on me, posters that point out flaws and act like we should be doing everything a super program is doing. Then, now here's the laugher, they say they're 'realists' and are not wearing 'green and gold' glasses but others like you and I are the ones wearing the classes. Here's where irony rears it's crazy little head, most of us that recognize and applaud the accomplishments are actually the 'realists', and the ones NOT 'wearing green and gold glasses. Because we REALize the programs capabilities, and abilities, and we REALize that their accomplishments, albeit not the pinnacle of college sports, are very amazing given the REAL circumstances this athletic department is faced with. We REALize, that to build a great program you've got to win, and grow. For example, Gonzaga had to make an NCAA Tournament before fans followed and started donating...no school has ever won a national championship or gone to a BCS game in their first crack. We REALize, even Boise State had to go to 7 straight bowls, get ranked in the top 25 a few times win some, recruit hard, slowly build before they finally were able to crack the top 5. We REALize that Boise State's amazing run, and subsequent top 5 finish was not because of one season, but a culmination of 7 as they slowly built to this point. SO, we REALize you've got to walk before we run, and run before we jump. We're know how difficult it is to achieve even what we've done. Honestly I marvel at how competitive USF is in virtually every sport with such a limited fan and donor base. I don't wear 'green and gold' glasses except for my cheering. Those folks are the ones wearing the 'green and gold' classes and are NOT the REALISTS because they think to much of their alma mater and their capabilities, and through their 'green and gold' glasses they think overachievement is a National Championship. Through their 'green and gold' glasses they think USF can compete in recruiting against anyone in their country. FOLKS I WANT WHAT THOSE GUYS ARE SMOKING AND I WISH I COULD WEAR THEIR GREEN AND GOLD GLASSES BECAUSE THE REALITY IS FAR DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THEY SEE OR KNOW. REALISTs they are not, more like dreamers, or rather purely negative people. As many motivational speakers will tell you in a group usually 20% are negative, 20% are positive and 60% sit on the fence swinging both ways. The 20% that are negative will always be that way and the goal of the 20% positive leaders is to not waste time and energy trying to sway the 20% negative because ultimately you will never do that. Work with the 60% so they don't fall prey to the chicken little mentality. Also wanted to add that BSU's recruiting classes arent that great on paper FWIW. There is something to be said about development
  6. Just something to point out gentleman. The recruiting classes that you claim are close on paper from UCF and USF havent stepped on the field yet for the most part. Here is a trend so at least it makes sense when you talk about it: 2002 7 three stars, 4 four stars (Most JUCOs who had 1 solid year before grade troubles) 2003 9 three stars (coach K's last year, transition period, mostly JUCO/prep 3-star) 2004 1 three star and low two stars (5.0,5.1,5.2) 2005 4 three star ( 3 of them JUCO) 2006 6 three star ( 5 of which are HS) (Most two stars still 5.0/5.1) 2007 7/8 three star, 1 four star (Almost all HS, most two stars 5.3/5,4. Most players who are 3* fringe much like Claude Davis was before he was upgraded) I am just making this point when you are talking recruiting. FWIW, . Again, just remember that the class of 2003/2004/2005 were the worst recruiting years ever for UCF. Our bright spots were Brandon Marshall, Mike Walker, and Kevin Smith THATS IT! Anyhow, I dont think 1 stellar season will impact recruiting as much as you might hope. However, USF should be very good this season and two years of winning really helps I think. I think that the big-3 will be the big-3 for a long time. You have to think, most HS coaches have influence from some of those 3 schools. In addition, USF has only been recruiting football talent for 10+ years! I would say that Ford is huge for you guys.
  7. Its more like 30 mins away. And yes that is another reason USF has done better than us. You dont have one of the best programs in the nation right next door. Of course we have not shown the consistent ability to win so that hasnt helped in the local area.
  8. USF doesnt need an OCS. USFs stadium is close enough for students to make the games. UCF was a different case. UCF needed a stadium closer. UCF needed to make sure IF there was a chance of making it to the BCS that we HAD a CHANCE. As you know facilities play a part. That is the best reasoning for having our OCS. USF has BCS, USF is winning. USF needs to sell more tix before they worry about a OCS. Given the young age of the football program I am sure with winning and age the fan base grows. However, everyone should WANT an OCS. OCS made out of aluminum is better than the best stadium in the country. You cant match the gameday feeling. Its great. Both schools are doing great things. Maybe UCF can do a little more ON the field and USF a little more OFF.
  9. Every time you open your mouth you sound even more dumb. The quality of our football team will only get better and attendance will be plenty. No we wont be as good as USF, but we will be competitive in our conference.
  10. Just as excited as before. We all love our school win or lose and its nice to have something with our name on it (literally). At least we suit up and go for it.
  11. POTD!! Yeah...at Michigan and Notre Dame...the bleachers don't even have BACKS to them!! How do they DO IT? PS. Someone please tell Georgia, Auburn, Bama, LSU, Tennessee, etc...(all of which have 85%-95% bleacher seating in their stadium) that they are STUPID if they don't have a stadium with ONLY individual chairback seats. As the poster above states...NFL is all about AMENITIES...as many fans there could careless about the game...just there to enjoy the club seats, atmosphere, use the free tix they got from a sales rep, etc...whereas COLLEGE Football has all the PASSION in the world...that fans could careless WHERE or WHAT kind of seat they are in....as long as they are IN the Stadium to yell and SCREAM!! Of course it goes without saying that UCF couldn't afford to put individual seats in their new OCS....but then their two dozen fans are used to butt cups. Yes, Plastic chair backs would be a deal-breaker. Chair-backs are about the least expensive thing in the stadium. In fact, due to demand from china BOTH aluminum AND Steel are very expensive right now. What is hilarious to me is that you guys have no clue how much of the intial outlay has already been paid for through sponsorship. That includes a program where you can buy bricks as a student/alum all the way to stadium naming rights.
  12. I couldnt help but think of you. A small chuckle. http://d21c.com/terri1/caroline.swf
  13. keep saying it it become true one day It became true last year? Pitt had one of the top 10 recruiting classes in the nation, we destroyed them. It takes a combo of talent and coaching, which so far we have prooven to be ok at. EXACTLY!! I think people underestimate the power of coaching strategy. Look at Boise State!
  14. After signing day...probably looking pretty good. Come July when kids have to enroll and be totally qualified...maybe not as good. Much like UCiF Fans.... During the offseason...everything looking great. Come Fall, when kids have to make plays against crappy CDOA teams.....maybe not as good. 2005-2006 was our first DECENT class. I dont think any of our classes has really looked good on paper til then. Most of those kids havent even touched the field yet man. Go look at the players in 2003, 2004, 2005. Do they look good on paper? This would explain why we had a bad season and couldnt beat CUSA teams. Not the fact that we look good on paper before signing day .This years class is a little better. Its obvious that USF is better than UCF hands down. I dont think thats even a question. Just keep in mind that the teams you beat are the worst UCF recruiting classes in 10 years. I am not saying that we will ever beat you I mean USF's classes are getting better and better and better than ours. What I am saying is that on Paper UCF is finally getting back to signing the quality of recruits that coach K did. The difference we hope is that these recruits actually qualify and or stay out of trouble. As you know Coach K had some classes with 3 or 4, 4 star players, but that class got into alot of trouble and the whole house of cards collapsed. Its upsetting that you dont acknowledge facts or get your facts straight. Yes UCF sucked last season, but lets be clear why. The recruiting prior to last class has sucked and I would also say we dont have very good gameday coordinators. I mean I can beleive they are keeping Tim Salem OC on board. He is so lame and predictable. I have to say I like the scripting by USF. You guys are going to big things. It pains alot of UCF fans that we missed the boat. I think we will be sucessful and truth be told we dont go after alot of the same recruits so I dont see a big issue there. IF anyhting it would be nice to see our team get better to have real good games. This years game was real good, but Grothe was raw. USF got better and better throughout the season while UCF didnt start to get any better until the final couple of games. Good luck on the rest of the recruiting period and a very classy move by CJL with the funeral.
  15. Hello everyone, I wish this post was to talk some smack. I brings me great remorse it is not. I just wanted to say sorry to the family of Keely Dorsey and the entire USF family. May he rest in peace and god bless everyone.
  16. You have to admit: AT UCF we talk better smack than that. The types of videos and pictures that have gone back and forth between our schools have been pretty hilarious. That was down-right pathetic!! That was the dumbest thing I have ever seen!
  17. Funny, USF signs a big recruit and you cant wait to breathe UCF. With all your success....why? Why even mention us? Congrats on the kid. That kid is scary!!
  18. UCF commits with USF offers Troy Kelly Darin Baldwin Ereck Plancher Mike Greco AJ Johnson UCF prospects with USF offers per rivals (take it for what it is worth): Aaron Gresham. Jeremiah Wright Tyson Butler Ajami Guyton The rest of the homestead HS group that we lost to Rutgers, I believe most of them has USF offers. I got sick of looking this up so I stopped We also compete with Arizona State, NC State, Rutgers, WVU, Pitt, Minnesota, In State Schools. However without BCS, yes we have a harder time. I think we will get one of our decommits back in Josh Linam, a three-star backer 1 spot behind Gresham in national rankings per rivals. Linam is actually higher on our boards than Aaron and we might have hurt ourselves in filling up to early as we may have to leave several 3-stars on the board unless they grey shirt or walk on. Right now Aaron and Josh are lower on the board than 3 of our players because Josh Linam was asked to wait and see. As far as Gresham, here are some quotes from his articles. 1/9/2007 “Gresham, who visited Louisville on Dec. 15, has visits scheduled to UCF and USF in the coming weeks.†10/22/2006 Unofficial visits to Tampa to check out the Bulls have made an impression. "They really like me down (at South Florida) and I've talked to all of their coaches and they are nice guys," Gresham said. "Coach Jim Leavitt seems passionate about the program. Have been down to see their facilities and they do have nice facilities. They were talking that I could come in as freshman and compete for a position." Facilities and a relationship with the coaches have UCF under strong consideration. "It's the same deal as USF where I like all of the coaches," Gresham said. "Their facilities are incredible. UCF has got some of the best facilities that I have seen. I've been to Florida, Alabama and Florida State. They are competing with those schools." 9/12/2006 The Bulls right now, however, are holding an extra card that could make the difference. An all-state catcher, Gresham has been offered the opportunity to make USF's baseball team if he signs with the Bulls. In addition to spending time with defensive coordinator Wally Burnham and former Lafayette teammate WR Marcus Edwards, Gresham met with new Bulls baseball coach Lelo Prado on Saturday. "I just want the chance to make the team. If I'm not good enough to do it, that's fine, but they're willing to give me that opportunity," he said. "I don't know about the other schools except UCF, which told me flat out that I wouldn't be able to play baseball. Coach (George) O'Leary doesn't want his players focused on anything but football."
  19. Looking at these numbers, you should definitely get out of the UCF game ASAP!
  20. ummm..of course. You always route for your conference, but that doesnt exactly make us cheerleaders for ECU. We know that the state of Florida has more talent than that craphole and ultimately we feel this will be a blowout. Temper down your EGO a bit. I respect your program, but if I had oen qualm it would be your ego. Sure we are jealous of your BCS status and the fact that you leapfrogged us in a conference bid, but that doesnt deem you god. To be honest, we will be spending more time unraveling who will be taking over our DC and most likely OC jobs this upcoming season. Good luck to you and that was a huge accomplishment against WVU, congratS!
  21. So let me get this straight, I come on your board, take my hat off to a team that beat a #7 team and you claim that our school is playing a ploy on this topic. Some of you are truly crazy. Look man, you have lurkers on our boards all the time stiring up ****, but I dont think any of us have a problem making the post ourself. That is just some ECU fan making a claim! Good luck in your bowl, I will be watching it from home lol
  22. UCF had 29 votes last year when we dominated a questionable conference. USF beat us both years and took down top 10 teams and you dont deserve some votes? This is just another example of how the ranking systems in college football are totally inconsistent and flawed. That to me gets you at least a dozen votes! I have always said you guys get no love. Maybe you should go 0-17 and then 8-3. That will get you pub. Though a good accomplishment it is amazing how screwed up publicity and rankings are. I for one will take it. Thats the good thing about doing bad. When you do something good you get all the love in the world. Kind of like a marriage!
  23. Trust me, our team is attrocious this year and our defense was stuffing ECU
