  1. I think at some point somebody else will have an opportunity to start for no other reason than our OL is still bad I can see McCloud getting heavily dinged up. Also McCloud will have to build on the bright spots he had last game. As it stands now though he could be the most comfortable mentally in the offense. Which is what I think it is. I think the other guys may not be seeing the field real well and throw a bunch of picks in practice. McCloud doesn't throw a ton of Ints so that is probably a big factor.

We don't know because he has not given nearly 1/10 of the time to do nothing as McCloud.

Nothing about this stats says passer or duel threat QB of the future to me. If you added up all three games it is still  a terrible  game

    9/12/2020 The Citadel 11 16 0 68.8% 68 1td  14 3 3 0 7 0 0 0 0
    9/19/2020 at Notre Dame 8 14 0 57.1% 64 0 14 5 21 0 14 0 0 0 0
    10/2/2020 at Cincinnati 12 21 2int 57.1% 137 0 28 4 -18 0

Never said he's the future he could just be the least bad of what we have in the stable.

As for Fortin if he's so good you'd think he'd be able to easily best McCloud. High school stars and a college highlight "film" (its more of a tik tok, or maybe a Vine) only get you so far

Terrible past performances and 17 points vs ECU gets you filled in as a starter at USF. Fortin and Johnson better be complete trash in practice because I really can't get over the fact that we arent interested in seeing them get a half of a game.

One isn't a factor in the race the other is more erratic throwing the ball than McCloud....

So he is the starter until he isn't...got it..

Correct that's how being a starting QB works. Definitely means something for CJS to give him the job publicly like that. I'm not surprised as the others on the roster are either too inexperienced or more erratic throwing the ball. The hope is the young guys develop as they do have higher ceilings imo. I've heard Fortin has not looked at all like what people here expected....

Add the entire right side of the defense.

Also, I would add, this team appears to be extremely slow and weak.

Covid also took away a big chunk of the off season S&C. Considering we all watched our athleticism decline under CCS we needed all the time we could get to start working back from that. We have a big hill to climb

Not to that degree...there were too many wr wide open (hence his stat line)...he is very conservative...I would mix coverages in and blitz occasionally...he will simply hold the ball a second or two long and he will get sacked or throw the ball away...that is all you have to do with this guy. ..

The other guys have to be considerably worse if they can't take the job from him...

not to mention we lost our leading receiver and leading RB from last years team

And the only two defensive linemen that can generate a pass rush, the only LB we had that can consistently take on and get off blocks, and two offensive linemen while not great but are a major upgrade over what we have in their spots. Plus all the other guys CCS chased of that were basically a whole recruiting class worth of players. As usual the nuance of roster management and player development are lost on many of the loudest voices here.

Wait till next week when  Temple doesn't blitz every player 80% of the time and wr aren't wide open and they disguise coverages...I guess then it will be back to McCloud sucks again....actually it might not be that becaue he will be confused and hold the ball to long...then it will be...its not his fault our Oline sucks...so I'm not sure how the board will react...

With this offensive line and the film that's out there a DC would be a fool to not blitz their face off until we show we can pick it up and our WRs show they can consistently win off the line in 1 on 1 situations.
