  1. All of those teams, excpet for FSU, are traditional bottom-feeders in their league. Is that what we are because we got lucky against FIU?
  2. If the coaching staff could get three of there best players from smokin' then we wouldn't need to see walk-on RB's as much... Walk-ons are walk-ons because no one wants to burn a scholorship on them...period.
  3. Grothe will struggle, but he is already better than PJ! Give this kid time and he will develop into a servicable quarterback... Yes the play calling doesn't help him out...don't get me started on Rod! How he has managed to keep his job is amazing.
  4. You are right...CJL has done an awesome job getting the team this far in such a short timeframe. Maybe we have been spoiled by our quick success and should anticipate a few years of sliding back in order to take that next step. Having said that, I don't think I have ever seen this coaching staff so out of touch with the game. I think the losses of some our assistant coaches is beginning to show.
  5. I think in 2 games (albeit against weak competition) we have seen enough of him to think he can grow into a good quarterback. In the past this is all this team has needed. Unfortunately, I don't think I remember this many questionmarks in other areas.
  6. Pitt and Rutgers look solid. WVU and Louisville by far are the class of the league. The Big East is improved. Out best chance for wins the remainder of the year may be Cincy abd Syracuse. After that its questionable.
  7. I really like this kid's moxie. Just imagine if had anything that resembled a running game...right now he is his own running game...He should only get better. Nice to see someone get the ball to our talented receivers. Hopefully one of the backs will emerage at some point this season.
  8. Why would I compare us to FSU??? We are closer to Kansas than FSU as a football program, regardless of the outcome... Don't get hung up on the score and the fact that we won...this act will not play in the Big East.
  9. Been a board "watcher" for years...live in Tampa...probably coming off too negative after tonight, but I just expect more from our Bulls. I have this aweful feeling that as an athletic department we are sliding backwards. Do not like some of the things I am seeing, especially off the field.
  10. Bad teams also get lucky! You mean the bad news is that we are talking about penalties...always an issue with the program. Now add to it no running game, weak pass rush, horrid special teams and a coaching staff that look lost!
  11. FSU also beat Miami...trap game...they get the benefit of the doubt...also, Kansas is a mid-level team in the Big 12 at best. Don't get caught up on the score, if you saw the game you'll know that we lucked-out. We have major issues this season.
  12. I am not worried about Grothe...he will take his lumps and help this program in the future, but let's face it this is a rebuilding year... Too many holes and questions.
  13. I don't think those teams took their opponents for granted...look at who you named, they are all bottom-of-the-rung teams in their conference. All of them are bad teams. Is that who we are comparing ourselves to? If so, the standards have fallen quickly around here.
  14. Exactly, the program stepping up in class means the coaches need to as well. CJL's act is startuing to wear thin. I think tnight's performance plus his routine lately with the media is a bad combo...
  15. After seeing tonight's results, there is more of a gap between the "Big 3" and the rest of the state. FSU's performance was a joke, but they certainly get the benefit of the doubt after beating UM. Great teams crush weaker opponents and playstrong, if not win, the majority of their big games. 'Nuff said.
  16. Yes a win is a win, and we are more talented than FIU. But we were outcoached tonight and we are going to run into more taklented teams the remainder of the year. Eliminate your mistakes, prepare your team better and let's see how the season unfolds... anyone still think we are going to start the season 10-0?
  17. The only positive from tonight was... 1. the win 2. seeing Grother grow a little more in crunch time If we play like this the rest of the year, we will be lucky to win 3 more games. This is where I look to see CJL earn his $1 million salary and prepare his team better and eliminate the mistakes. I can accept that we may not be as talentd as in years past, but clean up your fundamentals and many of your issues can be masked.
  18. First, Akron doesn't win if NCST doesn't have a celebration penalty; CSU beat a Colorado team that lost to Montana State the week before... Bottom line is this, if you expect to be an upper-tier D-I team (or part of the mythical "Big 4") you cannot beat FIU by 1. Look beyond the score...no running game, awful special teams, and a head coach who was outcoached tonight. If you want to be a lower D-I program then I guess you are right, a win is a win...but look beyond the score...we have serious issues.
  19. agreed...give FIU credit though, they were a very game opponent tonight, bit still...if we are as good as half of us think we are this cannot happen... DON'T DRINK THE KOOL-AID!!!
  20. Tonight has been an eye-opener...I think Grothe will continue to grow and be solid, but we have nothing close to a replacement for Hall and special teams are a JOKE!!! If CJL thinks the media has been tough lately, just wait until tomorrow! This time when answers "I don't know" to a question in a press conference I think I may just believe him! Based on what I have seen tonight, I say 4-8 regardless of the FIU outcome. The rest of the Big East is improved. There is no way a BCS school should lose to a Sun Belt team, not if it has any aspirations of being a solid program.
  21. ...bar none. Bulls fans are in for a rude awakening...we have so many issues and not all are on the field!
