Having black uniforms would be such a 180 from the "no black" trend they've been pushing towards. The American Flag Helmet is a fan favorite at this point and I doubt they replace it.

The American flag helmet is quite basic. It needs serious improvement.

The University of Memphis is one of "six to eight" schools on the Big 12's "preferred list" of expansion candidates according to a TMGcollegesports.com story Tuesday written by former Boston Globe columnist Mark Blaudschun.

Blaudschun tempers the report with "word has it" that invitations have been sent to Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, UConn, South Florida and Central Florida from the American Athletic Conference, along with football independent BYU and two other AAC schools.

This part makes zero sense. UConn's value is not in football.

"Blaudschun wrote there was some talk about football-only invitations, a move "that would be easiest for BYU and UConn." He said UConn "presumably has a landing spot for its other sports in the Big East" if a Big 12 football invitation is made."

Interestingly enough, JK apparently either doesn't care if we don't make it or already has another job lined up if they don't make it and decide to give up on covering USF altogether. I mean, at least PRETEND you care about the school you're covering - I see tons of national and regional writers that went to school elsewhere that at least try to cover better.

Joey Knight simply doesn't take pride in his work. Take Greg Auman for example. He is a UF grad and worked his butt off covering the USF beat. He was eventually rewarded with a promotion to the Bucs beat where he's also doing an excellent job. I can see him eventually elevating his career to the national level. Joey is content with doing the bare minimum, and will have a very hard time progressing from where is now. He should consider himself lucky to still be where he is.

  4. It would probably help us overall because we are a run first team and they are a pass first team, but we are already having issues with receivers droppings balls, and the rain won't help.

Rain favors pass offense. Receivers typically know their routes and don't have to quickly make adjustments while often backpedaling like defensive backs do, which leads to slipping.

  5. Watching a D1 game and the QB has our family name. Most likely related but I'd have to go back to around 1800 to find the connection, my family came to America in the 1600s but not many with our name. So he being the QB, his name is called often, my wife comes through the room and just stops and stares at the tv with a surprised look.

MTSU's right? He's a good young QB. Wish we had one of those.

  6. I don't think we'll see many AAC teams go on prolonged runs due to coaching turnover. Temple, Houston, and Memphis will all lose their coaches to P5 programs in the next 1-3 years. UCF is on a downswing, but losing O'Leary to retirement won't help unless they hire a big name (which will be unlikely if he's promoted to AD and Key promoted to head coach). Chad Morris won't be at SMU long if he sees success. But If Tuberville is content at Cincy, maybe they end up dominating the league for a few years.

We improved 6 spots and are now ranked #156. FSU went from 95 to 96.

Can we catch FSU in the next 10 years? We were 183 in the 2011 rankings.

We are definitely on pace to do that. We already have a lower acceptance rate, higher average gpa, and our SAT/ACT scores are almost identical. We seem to be ascending while they are treading water.

We need to elect more USF legislators into positions in Tallahassee.

Their law school is really what is keeping them afloat. Flip that and I think we'd be ahead by now.
