  1. I think that those of us that donate on an annual basis should earmark our checks to softball until a shovel gets put in the ground. They may not be the largest checks, but if enough do it, a message will be sent.
  2. No surprise on your son. He wouldn't dare do any less. If you want to discuss whom I pray to, I'd be glad to meet you over on the board that is set up for any topic. Its too bad that your perspective on CJL is so clouded. He was the best hire 11 years ago by far, he has grown into the position better than could have been hoped for and he has been loyal to a fault in spite of being consistently underpaid.
  3. smazza, you obviuosly have no clue about what it takes to achieve success consistently when the bar is being yanked considerably higher every year. What CJL has accomplished is nothing short of incredible and he shows no sign of stopping the upward climb. I only pray that you don't have a son.
  4. sbien sees the glass half full smazza sees it half empty. I'd rather hang with sbien.
  5. I'll grant you that TS, but consider what the alternatives were to spend your sports dollar on. Wrestling at Fort Homer Hesterly Armory, Golden Gate Speedway or the Dog track.
  6. Bein, Great analysis of the time frame and logistics involved before an OCS can be a realistic item for discussion. The other reason that I want the OCS plan pushed soon is that if the Glazers think its a realistic option, they will likely sweeten the TSA split for the Bulls at Ray Jay. Currently we get nada, zip, nothing from concessions, parking, etc. You're also right on that any future UCF contracts need to be 2 for 1s. I hope that our AD will get a 2 for 1 with a c-DOA team soon just to set the precedent.
  7. I thought fans were supposed to be a little delusional (sp?) about 'their' team and players. The crazy thing is that USF has achieved just about every inconcievable goal they could in their short history, which just feeds the 'anything is possible' attitude. We didn't have a freaking kicking tee 9 years ago!
  8. Call an ambulance for smazza. He's not himself. No, cancel the ambulance and hope this is the new, kinder and positive smazza.
  9. Take it from an old guy, USF football attendance is ahead of schedule. I was a regular at University of Tampa games in the old Sombrero before the bowl-ends were put in. 20K was a big crowd. If the program continues on its successful path, the fans will come. The final piece of the puzzle has to be an OCS for several previously stated reasons and the sooner this conversation is started by the powers-that-be, the better.
  10. Seems that I recall that the folks at Alabama just recently thought he might be someone to follow in the footsteps of Bear Bryant. CJL was the perfect hire (we miss you Paul Griffin) for the first ten years and will likely do quite well in the second decade.
  11. They just did along with a contract extention.
  12. "but going to bowls like meinekemean little" Tell that to 60 teams sitting at home.
  13. Which is exactly what they have done and will continue to do.
  14. Swept perinial top 25 DePaul and are likely headed back to the NCAAs. Again! They are USF's most consistent NCAA post-season participants.
  15. If Urbanik comes back healthy, leadership will probably come from the pitchers next year. Don't know where the power will come from?
  16. USF graduates six off the softball team. Who is the biggest loss and why?
  17. Velcro, this has been "in the works" for years. What's the currently expected start-of-construction date? Let me know when a shovel hits the dirt.
  18. EC is likely headed out the door, but if they can't provide a BE-quality (The Red would be second-class in the Div. II Sunshine conf.) environment, his replacement won't fare much better. Need a big donor. Are you listening, GS?
  19. CJL's coaching looks even better when seen through the perspective he led a team without one draftworthy senior on it to a bowl game. And don't even start about 'recruiting' because five years ago when most of this class was being wooed the coaches were in trailers and not only was C-DOA not a current home, but the BE/BCS wasn't a pipedream. The Bulls have a very bright future!
  20. When is this team going to get a stadium worthy of their effort and results??!!!
  21. Marinatto or Carparelli. I hope you'll post any response you get.
  22. I thought the folks at BE headquarters were supposed to be marketing greats. You have one school in sunny FL and you don't send any northern teams down there after Nov. 15th?! At least put the Syracuse game down here late and give those folks a 'bowl game' experience this year. Great for both schools and the league as well as endearing USF to the local tourism industry. If we would work to fill their hotel rooms in a typically slow time for them, then maybe they'd throw a little of the bed tax money our way when its time for an OCS.
