  1. From Ft. Myers News Press: Anthony Henry, entering his sixth season in the NFL and his second with the Dallas Cowboys, returned to his roots Thursday night, speaking to the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The 1997 graduate of Estero High hopes to raise money  $450 covers the cost for one child  so that Lee County student-athletes can attend FCA summer camps. To help Henry's cause, you can send a check of any amount to: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 3000 Orange Blossom Dr., Naples, FL 34109. "The whole point of this is to raise money so that kids can experience something different," Henry told the crowd at First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Myers. Before the Outback Steakhouse dinner, Henry talked to The News-Press. What are your thoughts on the outspoken Terrell Owens joining the Cowboys? I've met him before. I like him. He brings a different aspect to our team, to the caliber of our offense. He's going to bring some fans. His attitude has been great the whole time. How come you're not in the news like he is? I don't make enough noise. What's it like playing for coach Bill Parcells? He's great. He challenges you. He works to get the best out of you. The good thing about it for me was playing for coach (Joe) Hampton, and coach (Lee) Peters in basketball, in high school and then having coach (Jim) Leavitt at college (the University of South Florida). They're all like that, too. Coach Parcells has coached Hall-of-Fame guys. He's been to Super Bowls. He's won Super Bowls. We've had good conversations about what's expected out of me. You're a cornerback. Who are the toughest wide receivers to cover? Chad Johnson. Of course, Terrell Owens. Steve Smith. Terry Glenn. And although I didn't match up with him, Marvin Harrison. Those are the guys who stick out in my mind the most. Doesn't Chad Johnson talk a lot out there? Yeah, but he does it in a fun way. I love all that stuff. Those celebrations are fun. And he's not disrespectful to the players. Last season, you returned an interception for your first touchdown as a Cowboy. Why no wild celebration then? (The highlight video showed Henry pointing up toward the heavens and then running to the sideline.) I don't have any kind of structure to my celebrations. How big of a highlight was that interception return? The funny thing is, I gave up a touchdown in the same game to (Cardinals wide receiver) Anquan Boldin. It wasn't in my mind that I had to make up for that. And then, later in the game, I pulled my groin and had to miss four games. Talk about going from low to high to low. This offseason, I worked as hard as I've ever worked. You tied a team rookie record with 10 interceptions in 2001 while playing for the Cleveland Browns. Does that still stick with you as a highlight? For me it does, because I feel like I was part of something special. That year, we led the league in interceptions
  2. Usually longer than this instant gratification society desires.
  3. They have been before (see Bobby Paschal era) and they will be again.
  4. You don't show your best cards until you have to. Last season was a perfect example; part of how we hit the Cards so hard was we hadn't shown much before then. This is also reason to expect we will win the UCF game because we didn't use but about 60% of the offense in last year's game. You can be sure CJL will use as much as he needs to so that he has a lifelong career mark of 2-0 vs this C-DOA foe.
  5. Plancher There's no film on him and they won't use him much until they have to, but come the meat of the schedule, he'll be the man.
  6. The defense: If #1 happens, then local monied sports fans will purchase season tix simply to have the seats for the 1 or 2 must-see games each year. This is why NFL stadiums are smaller than colleges and why major league baseball's newest fields generally replace with fewer seats. Econ 101 - supply & demand. If you can't build the demand, then shrink the supply and cause a shortage: see OPEC.
  7. Its a shame, but it doesn't look good for EC. We may never know how well he could do recruiting with a Div. I facility.
  8. An OCS with 40K cap would change everything. 1. Instant shortage of tix for BIG games 2. Greatly increase the status as a 'must do' among students 3. Double season tix sales (as well as no-shows)
  9. BBB You made my point exactly that because of the size of RJS relative to our solid fan base, we must attact the "Spences" of the area. Sellouts, and thus a shortage of ticket availability, are the quickest way to build the season ticket sales. I, like you, cannot wait for the day we have 65K rabid Bulls fans, but for the forseeable future, it is what it is.
  10. Spence, You are exactly the kind of individual that the program must attract if it wishes to grow. NOBODY should think that they have an obligation to support the Bulls or any other sports team. Thanks for stating your position so clearly.
  11. Dallas Cowboy Anthony Henry will be a featured speaker at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Scholarship dinner this Thursday evening at 6:30 First United Methodist Church of Ft. Myers. RSVPs supposed to be in by today (Friday), but they may take some Monday. 239-936-2885 Support a Bull alum and a good cause.
  12. BE must get to nine teams with 12 game schedule.  Who is the best bet to be the school that will come on board for BCS football only?  I gotta go with Memphis.
  13. He has great hands and it appears that Amarri has benefited from the friendly competition. Is he back 100% from his injury, and if not, how far back would you say he is?
  14. After the spring game, running back looks to be well staffed, esp. if Moises is as good as advertised.
  15. Any ideas on why USF's recruiting has fallen on hard times in the Sarasota/Bradenton area?  This region is strong in HS football and the Bulls should do very well.  Instead, its been slim pickins' esp. at Booker High.
  16. For me, its a great excuse to get together again with people I enjoy having a relationship with.
  17. CJL wants somebody to take the QB spot from PJ. If they have a lick of talent, it will happen.
