  4. To All USF Fans, The Herd of Thunder is proud to announce that we now have our own message board where fans can comment on our performances, make stand tune suggestions, field show suggestions, or just plain support our efforts. Without your fan feedback, we cannot maximize our main mission of supporting USF Athletics and creating a fun and energetic atmosphere for the fan. The message board link is http://herdofthunder.proboards102.com We look forward to your positive and constructive involvement in making the Herd of Thunder the best marching unit in the Big East and hopefully in the NCAA! GO BULLS!!! Sincerely, Scott D. Barrish and Erin Kennedy H.O.T. Promotions Officers 2006/07 http://band.arts.usf.edu
  5. LOL at Wild_Wild_West....In retrospect, I would have liked to have been at the Men's game for 2 reasons, 1) First Big East win 2) Upset of a top 20 team. However, I've been having a blast here in Hartford supporting the Lady Bulls. Although they came up short, the team and spirit squads represented USF with respect. Sincerely, HOTMello2005
  6. To be more accurate, Tampa Bay resident...or....St. Pete resident.
  7. The rest of the saying is the best and you forgot to type it!!! "Opinions are like a#$hole%, everyone has one and most of them stink!"
  8. I got thinking more about this and here's what I've come up with (For the suggestion box collection): 1) It's as alomst like they're trying to make their place into another Leroy Selmon's in the worst possible location. 2) Absolutely correct, the wait staff needs to be replaced with a younger crowd.  Also they need to be a littel bit more experienced in the hospitality industry (get your mind out of the gutter smazza!).  The girls that were there the other day were somewhat clueless. 3) For being open a short period of time, it would be the best interest of the owners and exec. chef to come out and survey the customers while they're "enjoying" their dinning experience.  At least have a survey on the tabletops to get immediate feedback. 4) I realize now that a lot of money has been dumped intot he place to repair it from the previous store, but if you are going to advertise yourself as the Bull Ring, then make sure there is plenty of Green and Gold inside before opening your doors. Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  9. I went there today for lunch.  I was not that impressed with the place. 1) Not very much in terms of USF decorations both color scheme and wall hangings other than the Bulls Country kit they most likely received from the University 2) The menu looked more like they are trying to attract the corporate customer rather than the University population.  First, the prices were borderline expensive for someone on a student's budget.  Second, the menu choices reflected more of a white tablecloth dinning experience than a sports bar.  Finally, the food I tried was not all that good.  I had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich with onion rings.  The breading on the fish filet was so thick that I barely tasted the fish.  Plus the bread for the sandwich was extremely thick and had absolutely no flavor.  Also, the onion rings were extremely bland with again, too much breading. 3) The strengths of this place is that it's a huge lot and very close to the campus (5 minutes).  It has the potential to tweak its menu and decor to attract the University population and be a prime sports bar on Fowler Ave. I will revisit the Bull Ring from time to time to see if there are improvements.  I hope this is so because the owners can capitalize on a market that’s not even to barely tapped in the Greater Tampa area. IMO, the marketing has missed the mark on this one. I feel if they don't make changes to this place to attract more of the University population that they will go out of business real soon. Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  10. USFSam, You play an instrument?  Come and join the Herd of Thunder and be able to go to all football home games, some away games, and all home basketball games and make $$$ while showing off your school pride! Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  11. Actually, that would be a Jack Russell Terrier...They are like furry nuclear power plants high on crack!
  12. Bull Fans, I want to say thank you guys for the wonderful comments about H.O.T..  For me personally, this is my reason for being a member of H.O.T.; to represent the university, to entertain the crowd, and to cheer on the football team to victory. During the off-season, we need you guys to keep talking about the Herd, buy a CD or two when it comes out, keep supporting us, and keep giving us feedback during next season. If you know of anyone currently enrolled at USF or will be an incoming new student in the Fall and they have an interest in the Marching and Pep bands, have them visit the following link: http://band.arts.usf.edu/signup.htm Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone (Hint: I was the Mello on the jumbotron during halftime!) P.S. I'm off to Key Biscayne for a week of relaxation. See you guys at the basketball games.

  14. #44 Jones is horrible. Of all the games I've been to, for some reason I am able to pick him out for the following reasons: 1)Indecisive 2)Poor conditioning 3)"No, no, don't give me the ball!" 4)Unaware of where players are on the court At the Mich game, I just cringed when I saw Mich players sneak behind him going baseline while he was looking the other way. Also, how many times before the Coach saw that Mich's Brown was pickin' our guys to block them for the three point play. Everytime I saw it start to develop I would say, "Here we go again." Gotta do better job switchin' up the defense and recognizing certain plays; especially when they run it like 10-15 times in the first half!!! Finally, it shouldn't matter how outmatched we are, we still need to be aggressive with the ball. I could count on one hand how many times we drove the ball to the hoop. Even if you don't make the shot, at least you'll have an opportunity to draw a foul! Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Pep Band 2005, Mellophone
  15. Either Finish Line, Champs, or Footlocker at University Square Mall had some really nice USF stuff too. Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  16. BandGuy, I could not agree with you more. The job of the Herd, SunDolls, and Cheerleaders are to energize the crowd to energize and cheer on the football team to victory. You shoudl be assured that the H.O.T. does have perspective on their role, but what's the harm in tyring to generate support for OUR activity during the times when we are in the spotlight? As a H.O.T. alumnus, you should be proud of H.O.T. and do as much as possible to support the Herd; especially during gameday when we are performing our shows. I've seen a couple of posts and talked with some alumni of USF (not H.O.T.) about the bands traveling to away games...How are we to raise money to go on these trips if there's no PR. H.O.T. is in a totally new dynasty of our young history. GO BULLS!!! KICK SOME WOLFPACK ARSE!!! Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone P.S. Power of Who?....Couldn't hear over the HERD!!!
  17. Now I do feel that the stigma of being a "commuter" University is a tough one to shake.  And possibly buying out University Square Mall property and building a state-of-the-art football stadium might just be what USF needs to shake the current stigma and be a major competitor with the FL big 3. But look at it this way...USF IS a top University.  It has doubled in enrollment over the past decade to ~40,000.  It is the largest (enrollment) of any of the Big East schools.  We've earned the highest rating for research.  Our College of Education is ranked in the top third in the nation!  I could go on and on about the greatness of our wonderful University, ALL without a football stadium on campus. Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  18. At the Cincy game, we saw a couple of people with signs cheering on the band.  At Charlotte, let's see how many Herd of Thunder signs are flying during our pregame and halftime shows!!! Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  19. LMAO....His S/N is HOTMr_B....LMAO! I do agree with you about your feedback. Next year I hope to be apart of student leadership for the duration of my H.O.T. tenure as a student to help make H.O.T. the best **** college marching band in the South while having fun (milk and cookie parties included) at the same time!!! My feelings about the staff that is with us right now is by far some of the best people in the marching activity dedicated to USF and H.O.T.. Wait in a couple of years and see our progress compared to today. I get goosebumps just thinking about playing for 50,000+ each game and, my God, the tailgate and standstill show before pre-game is by far the most fun I have at any game!!! Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  20. Having marched Drum Corps (Sr./DCA, Reading Buccaneers) for five years and in the marching activity since high school (90-94), I've enjoyed my time with H.O.T. this year.  I've definately learned all about the genre of college marching band. Having read some of the feedback (since I think constructive criticism is too harsh for my vocab.), I thank everyone, especially LittleDrummerBoy, so that H.O.T. may get better and build its own traditions for the future. Our Director said it best in our last rehearsal, "When you hear tailgaters play the CD, you can say that's literally you playing.  When new H.O.T. members talk about going to another bowl game, you can say you were the first to go."  This is the start of somthing H.O.T. (pardon the pun....LOL!) I look forward to the Power Sound of the South's performance as I hope they look forward to ours.  If there's one observation I've noticed in college sports, football to be more specific, fans hate the other school's football team, but all fans love the bands, no matter what school they're from! FINISH STRONG! Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  21. It's pretty cool. All it is as in many intro's like that is a simple Macromedia Flash movie. Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
  22. Katie, We love ya! You gals do an awesome job. Do you like our count-offs for ya at the b-ball games?..."5, 6, 5-6-7-8!" hehehe Sincerely, Herd of Thunder Marching Band 2005, Mellophone
