  1. No one is taking him away from us after this year even if we finish 8-4. What he's done this 3rd year has been awesome, but he would obviously only leave for a better job. What P5 program is going to be able to sell their fans on Taggart who has a career record of 28-42 and 0 conference titles and 0 bowl wins at least as of right now.

I did preface my statement by saying if we win the American championship, which would put us at 9 wins.  You have to understand that other programs that look for a coach don't really go through the day to day emotions that we do.  What they see is we sucked when he took over and then the progression 2-10, 4-8, and then in this scenario, 9-4 winning the first conference championship in school history.

I'm not saying any of this happens, just under this scenario, he make a lot of sense at Miami where they can fill a lot of positional coaches with former players (on the cheap) for even further recruiting prowess.  Also, Butch Davis and others do as well.

This is the biggest mid-season job market for college football that I remember, which means several programs have had lots of time for due diligence.

  2. Thanks for that, I never knew the origin other than coming from Taggart. He just hasn't proven himself yet, in my opinion, to the types of schools that can afford to pay him a couple more million. USF is a fantastic job that pays too well sometimes. He can dominate the state where he grew up in recruiting and fight to become the state's top team someday. I couldn't imagine a top tier team stealing him away. He'll have exactly what he wants in Tampa by the time he's truly proven himself to big time programs.

Yeah, I mean I agree with you.  But man, if he won a championship game, I would want him if I was the Miami AD.  There are no rumors for this whatsoever and I understand that, and they are looking for Butch Davis or Mario Cristobal.  Taggart can recruit Florida and Miami needs someone that doesn't command a huge salary, and they would get someone that turned around a 3 win program to a possible 10 or 11 in year 3.

I still think we might get a reality check on Friday and then beat UCF for 7-5 and the St. Pete Bowl.  I'm just very appreciative of the staff's energy to get us from terrible to a bowl team in 3 years.  2016 is bright regardless.

  3. I, for one,  am a huge USF fan and Alumni, I'm also a high school football coach for a team that's 11-0, state and nationally ranked and happen to have a regional championship game on Friday night. Ironically, our school (CCC) also happens to have 3 guys USF is highly interested in that would of gone to the game otherwise. One of the three happens to be one of the top Juniors in America, CJ Cotman. Point is, you're correct- USF fans should show up; however, there's some high profile high school games being played and that will make a dent in the amount of casuals (aka, the people USF is trying to attract) that show up.

Also for the fact that some high school football players and their families that would attend the USF game can't and won't show up.

  4. "Who's got it better than us? ...Nobody." -CWT as the head coach of USF.

He's at home,  close to his family and he's having success and being paid well.  He's not going anywhere... well, except for the fact he said the same 1 liner at WKU.

But still,  he's close to friends and family.  I don't think he'll go anywhere unless he's ever fired.

If he wins out he'll have 8 wins this season.

Season 1: 2 wins. Then a 100% increase to season 2 with 4 wins. Then a 100% increase to season 3 with 8 wins. Can't have any more 100% increases, but I'll be willing to accept an undefeated season of 11 or 12 wins :)

It's a Harbaugh quote.  He's still at home, but if he somehow wins the conference and somebody offers him a couple more million, I could see him leaving.

  5. You guys are to rough on him.....seemed like he was pretty reasonable to me.......just sayen

We actually aren't trying to be rough on him, just wanting him to show back up and eat some crow, then he could probably post here long term with people being nice to him.  He took enough shots at our team, but now he is nowhere to be found?  They got their *** handed to them after a week of running his mouth.  Just come back and say you were wrong and we're good.

We were the "fourth or fifth best team" Temple has played is the one that sticks out in my head.

  6.

First and foremost for all intents and purposes you are a troll to me. You show up here only to *****, never seen a positive post from you so I'm not so sure you are a USF fan.

You can think he is a bad coach all you want and that is your opinion. Just as it is my oppinion that Taggart walked into one of the biggest dumpster fires in college football. Anyone who thought we'd be anything special before next season is insane. My expectation this year was a Bowl and we will get that. If you can't see the mess that Taggart was left with then I'm sorry but there is a spot for you on the LaTech Bandwagon with the man you should really hate. This program wasn't going to do anything until ALL of Holtz players are gone.

And as far as my degree I'll put my Marketing Degree to use Monday through Friday and relax on the weekends like I'm accustomed to.

    hahaha Cambodia MIA now lol

  7. Well, i used to set up cones at the USF practice field so I KNOW FOOTBALL BETTER THAN ALL WHO GAZE UPON ME.

You know nothing more than anyone else on here. Yeah he's showing signs of improvement, I mean when all you do for 2+ seasons is take dump after dump on the field, anything resembling average football looks better. But it still is bad.

If you have been starving to death and someone hands you a can of spam, you'll eat it and maybe think it's great, but its not. I hope he can still get better coaching, he's 39. The point is he isn't very good to begin with.

He's in over his head. Maybe he'd be more comfortable at some sun belt.school, or getting back to sniffing Jim Harbaugh's pickle full time.

Those cones looked straight and that spam tasted good this weekend.

  8. I hear you, but I think the toughest of the three things we need to happen is on friday night vs. Cincy.  If we win that game, thebullspen should turn into a Memphis Tigers message board for a day as I'll never be rooting harder for another college football team.

  9. Penn State's losses have all been to ranked teams, while they've also beaten three above-.500 teams and a Maryland team that beat USF.

Cincinnati will be decided soon. Keep in mind, their loss to Temple was at home. Over the past five seasons, Cincinnati has lost 5 home games, to:

    • 2011: a ranked West Virginia team that won 10 games and went to the Orange Bowl
    • 2012: a ranked Rutgers team that won 9 games
    • 2013: a ranked Louisville team that won 12 games
    • 2014: a ranked Memphis team that won 10 games
    • 2015: Temple

Besides a 2 TD loss at 7-2 BYU, Cincinnati has lost by 7 at Memphis and 3 at Houston. Cincinnati is pretty good.

Funny how you decided to cut it off at 2011 because we won at Nippert in 2010.  You guys are having really good season, but you really aren't that special for winning in Cincy.
