  1. I disagree Smazza, I will guarentee that even if he doesn't get offered the K-State job he will want to renegociate. He's severly underpaid 4th lowest of the BCS schools, and 170k lower than GOL. He might go Coach K and use another job as leverage, but will definitly want to reup, regardless if he wants to stay or not...
  2. The Sun Dome could be a great environment...no offense but your clueless... Florida's O'Dome is considered to be almost an exact copy (they do not have replay boards and the lower level is all bleachers. Yet it is considered to be a 10 ten hardest place to play. This is college sports its not about where you play, but the environment you play in. When it was suggested that Florida build a new arena to big alumni and Billy Donovan they scoffed, they love the environment the O'Dome offers. PS - Did you forget we had Texas come in a few years ago...what about Colorado...It's hard to get teams in you own house. Big East play will bring in PLENTY of quality opponents
  3. I wouldn't throw FSU and UF under the bus just yet, both teams will probably be top 5 recruiting classes this year, in fact they say that the 3 Florida schools could be top 5 in the recruiting rankings. Lets not get ahead of our selves, USF needs to beat one of these schools before we can go discussing Big 4/5...
  4. If this game is what it could be it won't be at 7pm. The Big East is in a television contract, and if ABC/ESPN picks up the game under their contract, the game must be televised at the time they want (they won't put it on opposite the ACC Championship), or it will be a total blackout (even locally)
  5. ET, I kinda disagree, the national media bringing up CJL's name is gonna make the local media start questioning him directly about a possible change in scenery. This is the main stretch of our season, the last thing we need is CJL worrying about what questions the media is going to ask him. According to most sources (ESPN confirming) now its CJL and Brent Venebles of Oklahoma for the job and Synder is included in the process.
  6. I have to agree, Rome said the same thing about Meyer to UF the day zook was fired. Meyer told Utah fans many times that he was staying, but we saw what happened. I still believe that unless Synder asks himself, CJL will stick around (but will get a raise)
  7. If it makes you feel better the poster misspelled Venables too... Mandel just put this up, Leavitt, who in nine years has taken South Florida's program from infancy to BCS contention, should be at the top of the list. He's rejected major-conference overtures in the past, but he has a personal attachment to this one. Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables is another former Snyder protégé. And TCU coach Gary Patterson, whose team just finished 8-0 in the Mountain West Conference and locked up its third 10-win campaign in four years, once served as a graduate assistant at K-State, though long before Snyder's arrival.
  8. underpay...smazza do you know what your talking about? Yes a coach can win a national championship, and I don;t believe CJL is leaving, but he is going to want to get his market value like anyone else would want...
  9. I believe the only way CJL takes the job is is Synder asks him to. Following a legend (as Synder was for KSU football) is really hard to do. CJL will get a raise this offseason regardless I believe.
  10. toolio, I'll have to agree, with FSU/Bowden in their twighlight UF went out and got a very good young coach to counter the down time that will come after Bobby leaves FSU. I'm sure fans are sweating now, but I believe it will pay off in the long run. I thought Chris Leak was very clutch in thee SC game (as he was in Tennessee) I forsee him being very very good QB next year, seems like the offense is comming to him.
  11. I agree that the other sports deserve raises...but, you gotta take care of the revenue sports first...
  12. Coach...Coach...then coach...thereinafter, we could always find places to spend it
  13. Sorry shoulda listed them Gary Patterson Head Coach at TCU Jim Leavitt Head Coach at Southern Florida Brent Venerables Defensive Coordinator at Oklahoma This was from the Omaha newspaper apparently
  14. He's one of 3 leading candiates according to the KSU board on Rivals... :-/
  15. A lot of talk about the Bucs game and Spurrier beating UF... I'm sure as the weekend draws near the topic will come put of the woodwork.
  16. We shall see, 2 more seasons like this in Gville will get him on the street. That being said I don't believe Spurrier makes it 6 years at South Carolina, he's 61 and has said in the past that coaching past 65 doesn't appeal to him.
  17. 6-1 USC has won 3 Oregon State beat a TERRIBLE ND team Oregon beat a decent Colorado team who else am I missing...
  18. Chris Capko could fill in well, he did go against some tough guards in practices at UF...the same type of player's we'll see nightly in the BE That said, 3-13 would be GREAT in league play, give us a few years...
  19. Not that I have seen...I didn't read teh Oracle though...
  20. Bulls96....I disagree one of the main jobs of a college coach is to TEACH the players how to play the game. You can give anyone great recruiting class after great recruiting class and not be a good program. Zook did a bad job of developing those players. Now on Saturday Meyer was outcoached, I watched the games with some friends at a bar staurday, and although i didn't see much Spurrier was able to make the plays that Gators couldn't. In the immortal words or Vince Lombardi, "Winning is a habit, you have to learn how to win, before you do so." I wouldn't count out any of the Big 3 until they cannot pull in recruiting classes and don't have the funds comming in. Remember FSU and UF are two of the largest booster backed sports programs in the country.
  21. we'll see early idications have a lot of students going home for the holiday early... I'll be there, and I'm sure we'll get at least 6,000
  22. Haha, how bout this ESPN poll Florida 20, South Carolina 21...it all evens out in the end...
