  1. Wow, so many things just came to mind to post, but I'd better not.  :-X
  2. How does something like that happen? You would think a responsible journalist would look at that score, and say, "wow, USF got beat that bad by KY Wesleyan? That doesn't sound right, let me check that out." It is just common sense. Although the words journalist, responsible, and the term, common sense often don't belong in the same sentence.
  3. How cool would it be if this became a nationally-known tradition someday?  We could tell our grandchildren that we played a part in starting it!  They might even name the OCS after you Griggsy! ÂÂ
  4. I have to admit, when I first read the post, I was thinking "wow that's pretty corny." But after thinking about it, it might be something that turned into a really cool tradition, something that someday would be covered on ESPN Gameday. Maybe a bunch of people meet up at the school a couple of hours before the game (to allow plenty of time for good tailgating) and then have a massive procession down 275 South to either Dale Mabry or possibly MLK/Hillsborough. Kind of brings to mind when a huge biker gang rides past you and it seems like the procession never ends. The logistics of getting this many people together may be tough.......I think it would have to be one of those grassroots efforts, possibly started by the members of this board, then hope that it grows with time.
  5. We have a home and home agreement w/ Miami, so they have to come here at some point. Could it be our first RJ sellout?
  6. Looks like USF has been the top draw for the 'Canes at 58K and change.  Think we'll get that many when they visit Ray Jay?
  7. Horrible, just horrible. PLEASE CJL, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T DO IT!!!!!
  8. I found this interesting: From NCAA website (as of 10/30/2005) http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/Internet/attendance/IA_AVGATTENDANCE.pdf #49 Miami (FL) Avg attendance 45117 (4 games) #56 USF Avg Attendance 40616 (3 games) I have to think if we were the #5 ranked team in the country, we would have RJS sold out.............I wish I would have had this little tidbit of knowledge when I was at the Orange Bowl, and all of the "students" in the student section were telling me what great fans Miami has.
  9. I like what McCullum is doing.  I will have to say that I don't pay as much attention to basketball as I do football these days, but I always thought that the Bulls basketball team in the past has been an undisciplined bunch on the court.  When McCullum came it seemed like he was cleaning house, with all kinds of players bolting.  It may take a few years, but I think that he is going to be running a tight ship, and it will pay off in the form of a well-disciplined, competitive team.  Anybody ever see the movie "Hoosiers"? ÂÂ
  10. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it absolutely painful to listen to those guys.  They are horrible.  One of them sounds like he has a permanent sinus condition or something........not exactly good for radio. ÂÂ
  11. I know, it just sucks.  I remember when the Pitt game was rescheduled last year, it was actually a pretty nice day out (in Tampa anyway).  But obviously there is no way we could possibly know this ahead of time.  I wonder if 110mph winds might actually help Jul-missed's accuracy ÂÂ
  12. Who wants to bet we'll be sitting around Saturday in perfect weather?
  13. http://www.sptimes.com/2005/10/15/Sports/Packers_get_a_big_kic.shtml Packers get a big kick, 23-20 A 38-yard field goal by Will Sever caps Largo's comeback. By BRANDON WRIGHT Published October 15, 2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LARGO - Poised to attempt a 38-yard field goal to break a 20-20 tie in the final seconds, Largo wide receiver Will Sever was concerned, to say the least. "I can't even tell you how nervous I was," Sever said. Sever connected for his first career high-school field goal for the as the Packers came from behind in the final 1:43 to beat visiting Seminole 23-20. "Our kicker (Louis Marroquin) hurt his back two weeks ago," Largo coach Rick Rodriguez said. "Sever had kicked some in practice and we decided to go with him tonight." Sever, whose only prior experience kicking was in soccer, booted four extra points in Largo's 28-0 win against Palm Harbor last week. The pressure here was somewhat greater given the distance, the consequences and the time left on the clock: eight seconds. "I've watched him kick in practice, so I had faith in him," Largo running back Dexter McCluster said. It was McCluster (203 yards rushing, 3 TDs) who put Sever in position, first taking a punt back 56 yards with about a minute and a half left that tied the game at 20-20. "I couldn't believe (Seminole) kicked it to him," Rodriguez said. "I thought they were going to kick it in the stands or something." Largo's (5-2) defense forced a three and out on Seminole's (4-3) next possession and got the ball at its 43 with 44 seconds left. Quarterback Leonard Johnson then found McCluster streaking down the sideline for a 41-yard gain. "I saw they were in a cover two and I scrambled to my right to buy some time," Johnson said. "But I didn't make the play, the team made that play happen." Largo spiked the ball to stop the clock and ran one more play before Sever's field goal landed about 15 yards past the goalpost. 203 yds on the ground, 3 TD's for McCluster. Not bad. He does need to belly up to the buffet though. I love beating Seminhole. GO PACKERS!!!
  14. Going w/ 3 or 4 others.  Any USF get-togethers anywhere down there at a bar, etc to watch the early games?
