Were you able to discern what their rooting interests were? I mean, the local team is UTEP and they really have no room to criticize. Even a Skippy led team trounced them.
Most of the locals around us at that game ended up rolling down the stands in alcohol fueled fights. LOL

Coastal's coach gets paid $900k.
We pay $2.5m.
doesn't seem lateral to me.
Point taken, but from a prestige perspective, it's lateral at best right now. If he's on the market, there likely will be plenty of schools offering as much or more than we will. I'd love to see him here though, for sure. If you can get the kind of results he's gotten in Conway, South Carolina, I'd have to think he'd be able to do some damage in Tampa

I'd love to see a Chadwell or Prime Time come to USF, but honestly I just don't see the draw to come here for either of them. Coastal to USF is lateral at best, and Deion's next move will be to a P5.

I can walk to East Lake High to see a better brand of football

I don't want to out anyone but before the season, someone in Athletics made a defeatist comment to me about this season, basically indicating expecting success was a stretch. Sorry for being vague, I want to respect that person and their role in the dept.
Compare this with a Leavitt/LRS attitude about where we belong, what we can do, and who we are at the core.
I didn't see this until that ECU game but there is a losing culture in the ranks. Shrugs and chuckles all around. No one wants to even say the word "win", it's all "compete, compete".
Again, great people and hard workers I'm sure. We just do not see eye to eye on who USF should be.
This makes me sick - I wish I could doubt what you're saying is true, but the actions / results that we see on and off the field fully support it. What has happened to football is inexcusable, but my perception is that the remaining fans are the only ones expecting excellence.

2:20 2:21; whatever it takes.... for USF to win
Solid movie quote........very underrated
I vote as early as possible, 11am preferably. Bloody Mary / breakfast tailgate, get a head start on the holiday weekend, and don't give their fans a chance to get even more obnoxious.

I am on the record and was on the record with members of the Bulls Club that firing Jim Leavitt at that juncture for any reason was the wrong thing to do (if you cared about the program). It was not hard at all to see. You simply had to understand the status of the program. However I will say I got a lot of help from an Auburn/USF fan who said sooner or later the school will destroy this and he was right. Luckily the idiocy was after we beat Auburn.
I'm curious as to the reasoning he had at the time for this? Was it something going on that was USF - specific, or more of a general statement/prediction?

Taking my young kids to the game today, good luck finding any USF gear for an 8 and 6 year old around here without going to the bookstore. Side note: traveling to Louisville a few weeks ago, I stopped in the little TB Sports shop in the main terminal at TPA, surprised to not see ANY USF gear there. Thought that would be a great place to get the brand out there. Big fail in my opinion.

This is embarrassing. Hope this is not the mentality of the coaching staff / athletics dept, but based on some of the recent post games, I'm afraid it might be.

Nice drive! I thought I saw some lightning off in the distance, I think they should call the game. Too dangerous to continue play

I wanted The Jim back this past hiring cycle...
Me too. There seemed to be a lot more opposition to it back then.

Should they be called something like a "Watch Wake"?

His explanation of USF at Florida was really good and just reminded all of us of how he looked at every game - that you don’t have to be a better team. He said that USF is not a better team than Florida, but that night they had a chance to beat them.
When at the helm, he manufactured a lot of those chances.
Oh and you could almost taste how much he hated losing. Almost as much as @Outlaw
Also didn't seem to think much of moral victories based on his analysis of the UF game. I know we were all (or most of us) thought we had turned some sort of corner with that game. He emphasized that, at the end of the day, it was still a loss - gotta win those games when they are there for the taking. Not saying that CJS didn't also have it, but I love that mentality.

Watched the Youtube video. I believe he's genuinely disgusted with what's going on with USF.

A serious question, will any of us be sad or disappointed when we lose this weekend.
Nope. You know what's even worse, it won't even be embarrassing when we lose by 40. I have UCF "friends" that don't even give me **** anymore about it. Even UCF'ers have become apathetic to USF football.

That is the problem, I used to look forward to these games and I scheduled my weekend around the game. Now I will watch them if it is an early afternoon game but know that I don’t need to commit for the whole game because we suck, evening game I could care less, watch plus or not, one win in over 1k days against Temple has delivered apathy at a level we have never seen in our short history. We are in the death spiral just not sure how far down we are or if any of us even care anymore.
I remember when a USF loss used to put my week into a tailspin. Now it's to be expected and but a minor setback in my Saturday. Apathy is the correct word, and it's dangerous territory when your die-hard base becomes apathetic.

Since the topic of the thread is "it appears we are not better off than we were in 2019," I thought I'd drop this here. Sagarin ratings by year, so one way of looking at each coach's relative performance. T the 2022 number is through the current week, so not final, but I can't see it changing much unless we go on a tear.
This graph shows Leavitt's overall upward trajectory of the program nicely - I know we had our letdown games, but it sure would've been nice to see where that line could've gone. Also, the Taggart circle should have a picture of QF in it as well.

Mostly because I wanted to hear the tone in the questions and answers. The exchanges are intensifying which I appreciate and CJS seemed a bit shocked to be getting his first push back. It is not healthy for anyone to feel this comfortable while producing at this level.
Good to hear that the press is starting to do their job. Unfortunately, even with many of the remaining die-hards, I think certain level of apathy has set in.
