  1. It was funny seeing Marching bands streaming past Max's grille where there are Ferraris waiting for valet and diners eating $100 steaks a couple feet from a tuba player going by...quite a scene. Have great video of it all but sizes are too big to add.
  2. MC of rally said to bands at the end, you are marching bands right. Well the mayor here is going to shut down Mizner park so you can March. USF started "Homecoming parade" formation and started going South and then turned around and came back to amphitheater and to their busses. HOT played the entire time while it seemed Syracuse was mostly percussion. Would say HOT had 80% of full band while Syracuse was probably 50 to 60%....if not they got a small band.
  3. Syracuse interim coach came out and spoke about their great recruiting class and thanked everybody. Mike Kelly spoke for us and mentioned best aac and group of 5 class today. Bands are running out of songs to play. Still haven't played our fight song....opened with Ocho or the bull whatever it is called.
  4. Not starting on time but the bands have assembled and now coming from like 20 busses
  5. Lots of bulls already in Calaveras restaurant at Mizner
  6. And just like that, 2 tds and up by 8. As said leading up to our game with them that they were really good.
  7. Down by 6 in second half but if successful, there only loss would be us on the season.
  8. CAG definitely said they are taking the bus down here....makes sense as there is not much of a time difference if you consider pre and post flight time and no transfer of baggage. Same bus will take them straight to Mariott at Boca Center. He also mentioned they are practicing at Boca Raton High School which is 5 mins from their hotel and right across the street from FAU campus. It is an artificial turf which is probably best as the high school grass fields down here are rough. Syracuse folks mentioned that USF HOT band is sitting in section 130 and their band is in 110-112 sections.
  9. Please answer questions or provide any information that will help others. Good thing this week was not bowl week as it has been terrible down here. Rain for 5 days and 50mph gusts. Next week is supposed to be really nice once cold front goes through on Sunday. Events | Boca Bowl ROOFCLAIMBOCARATONBOWL.COM Sunday December 17th Afternoon Airport arrivals at Palm Beach International We know Syracuse will be flying down but is USF flying or taking a bus for the 4 hour drive? If they are flying down, does anybody know approximate time and is it all at tarmac to bus? Airport is 10 mins from me and I could put some flags on car when the buses go by down to their hotel in Boca. Team Hotel Both the team and the HOT band hotels are within a couple hundred yards of each other and probably less than 3 miles from the stadium. Syracuse hotel in West Palm is like 30 minute drive for them on gameday. Hotels | Boca Bowl ROOFCLAIMBOCARATONBOWL.COM Monday December 18th Bowl Team Beach Parties Assuming this is a somewhat open event for others outside of the team but not sure? First team at 12PM, second team at 3PM. Anybody know what time is for USF? Tuesday December 19th Team Entertainment I believe the website once had the plans but then took it off the website because they probably didn't want people outside of the team showing up. South Team - assume hotel location (USF) was going to Pinball Museum in Delray Beach North Team - Syracuse was going to Top Golf near PBI airport. Wednesday December 20th Kickoff Luncheon Palm Beach County Convention Center - assume this a closed event. Dual Team Pep Rally Mizner Park Amphitheater 6PM - would plan on trying to seat by 4:30 if you are going to any of the restaurants in Mizner or just to the South. Thursday December 21st Gameday Parking lots open at 3PM Parking | Boca Bowl ROOFCLAIMBOCARATONBOWL.COM Alumni Tailgate said it was South of stadium in grass area so I assume is the area I have circled in Green below. I will be trying to setup tailgate in Gold area I have circled in Gold below. 8PM - Start the beatdown of the Orange.....no excuses....for now, this IS our Superbowl.
  10. Yeah, she texted me the link as I still have not received any email.........127 Row F.
  11. https://am.ticketmaster.com/bocaratonbowl/my-events is what Halee sent to me and it worked
  12. We are visitors on the East Side opposite of the press box...assume the red and blue sections for the $57 ticket and based on your priority points closer to the 50:
  13. At the game, Bulls look impressive so far. Up 24-17 with 6:35 left...and should have bigger lead....getting multiple layups blocked.
  14. There will likely be 9 of us. Live down here so it is 30 minute drive to stadium. Still trying to find out when FAU parking lots open. The Boca Bowl still has old times and there is no way to contact them. Left messages with FAU's parking contractor but no reply. Would anybody at USF know? Will try to park where we did for last year's ECU moved game in the red below:
  15. Understood on Tuesday that there would be concrete layer on the stands but if you are going to put that much weight on the steel was it that much more to do concrete support as well. Assume our design is the Stadia image....design should be the @LAFC image......was it really $20, 30, 50 million more to do it right?
  16. Are you thinking about FSU which is steel structure with layer of cement or is there some part of Ben Hill Griffin expansion or press box area I have never seen? As you can see in pic, most major areas are built with reinforced concrete. Fun fact, Raymond James did not do circular ramps like here and in Hard Rock Stadium because they were like double the cost of what was actually built (rectangle back and forth). Was not expecting a Ben Hill Griffin for $300 million (it would likely cost triple that to build) but for only 35K seats I would expect something like a mini-rayjay.
  17. Disclaimer: Have been Bulls Club football donor since 1995 (they were taking donations two years before football games actually started) and only want the best for USF. UCF - 2007 - $73.9 Million 45K Seating FAU - 2010 - $70 Million 30K Seating USF - 2027 - $300 Million 35K Seating (assuming $40 million is being used for the TGH center for athletic excellence) Only difference in the design and look between these (+FIU) that I can tell from our renderings, is that we are going to have some green and heard we may put a thin layer of concrete on the stands like FSU has done. The thought all these years was that it would be best to do it right or don't do it at all and not put the same erector set steel beam structure that every high school stadium (along with FIU, FAU and UCF) in Florida has done for the last 30 years. Why was "no erector set steel support structure" not the first design rule given to Populous? (translation: no bounce house) Exhibit A (FAU Stadium) You will notice that our rendering shows the same type of steel support beams going down into the middle of those buildings. It is a horrible look for the $70 million that it costs FAU 13 years ago but it is inconceivable that we are doing the same for $300 million! Exhibit B: (UCF Stadium - "Bounce House") Renderings revealed on Tuesday show the same design (steel beam support structure) Expect to have similar corrosion issues over time. From the renderings shown: Both North (blimp view) and South (practice field view) stands show steel support structure. Fact 1: This is a bounce house and will feel unstable just like UCFs. Fact 2: This will have corrosion problems just like UCFs 10 years down the road. Fact 3: Reluctance of donors/corporations to give as much as they could when they see the renderings of something that should cost no more than $150-200 million actually cost $300 million. Fact 4: Renderings show a stadium (even if you tripled the cost of FAU and UCF for inflation) that should not cost more than $200 million. Was the design to bury a $100 million worth of gold at midfield to come up with the $300 million total. I have been in FIU, FAU and UCF stadiums enough times to know that we don't want that same thing. Those of us going to the Boca Bowl in two weeks should take note walking into and under that Stadium of what we are going to get three years from now at four times the cost. Only hope is that our USF folks approving the stadium design come up with the same conclusion: "300 million for this, get populous on the phone". Is this why contractor was fired? Were the renderings correct?...pretty sure graphic designer would not replace concrete structure with steel support just to get drawings out. Mike Weatherford said we don't want a Bounce House, we want something better.........well the renderings show a Bounce House, plain and simple.......very disappointing.....correct it before it is too late or we will have to keep putting lipstick on the pig for twenty years like UCF is doing now.
  18. He is not in helicopter. It appears to be that old Cessna citation or similar that someone donated its use many years ago. Same one they took to aac days in Texas couple of years ago.
  19. So you win the PowerBall tomorrow and plan on donating $50 million to the stadium fund. With the new 2027 date, there should be some time/room for improvements. What would you recommend to the design team based off what we have seen/heard? Thought we were going to get a mini RayJay (or some version of the Baylor/CSU stadiums) that seats 35K for $300 million, but the renderings show an FIU/FAU structure with a layer of concrete on metal stands. Orientation - Was originally against anything not North/South but East/West is fine especially with the walkway going in. The upper 10 rows of the Club section will be premium as they may be in the shade even in Noon games. Structure - Worse part of the renderings for me is the FAU/FIU/UCF/FSU structure. 300million, only 35K seats and thought for sure it would be concrete throughout. UNT did mostly concrete for a third the price. You will think you are at FAU/FIU/UCF when entering stadium and standing at concessions. I hope admin sees in two weeks as they approach FAU stadium for Boca Bowl how bad this looks and something changes. You go under the stands at FSU and it looks like a high school stadium too....they just put the same layer of concrete on the stands as I guess we are planning to do. They also put the nice facade of brick on the outside to hide the highschool look. Southside - The rendering from the practice field looks really good. One worry here is that any type of club area on the South stands gets taken up by the TGH "lockerrooms". Sycamore Drive - Would transplant the existing buildings to a different location. With some of the other PowerBall winnings build a mixuse parking/restaurant facility. Likely two garages, mini Yuengling Beer Garden and some other sports bar. On South Side near IPF, I would have reserve tailgate parking (all grass). 50th Street - 4 laned with multiple turn lanes on Fletcher and Fowler to get to I-75 Stands - South, East and North stands should be continuous on lower level.....make a horseshoe and keep West disconnected for expansion (rendering does show this may be continuous on East side....so that is good.....just make it all concrete. Tailgating - The Grove look on the North Side is kinda cool but I want to be next to my vehicle and not do an rent a tent type of thingy....give me a grass spot under the trees on Sycamore. Entryways - Someone said only three entrances. Mainly because operation center will take up entire South Side. Do not like the look of the segmented buildings under the North Side under the erector set....need some type of continuous look.....dang it is going to look like the bounce house from below even though Weatherford said we wanted something better....it is not. Did we fire construction firm because of two things....delaying the project by a year and charging concrete structure prices for steel erector set design instead?
