  2. Need for a 9th Big East team by the 2006 season. Big East spring meetings are coming up, it will be interesting to see what happens. Scheduling 5 OOC games is going to be really tough.
  3. The BE is losing the Gator, so picking up the Liberty would not be bad, but reading the Memphis board, the Liberty is looking for the 3rd or 4th place ACC or SEC team vs. a C-USA team. The provision was added in case a Rice wins the C-USA championship, the Liberty could pick the higher profile school such as a Memphis, ECU, Southern Miss, or Marshall.
  4. Our frontcourt will come up big against the likes of BE powers like Rutgers, Notre Dame and UConn. I can't wait.
  5. In some ways, I don't see what the problem is with the article. The guy has an ECU bias and just states that the new C-USA will be stronger with 12 all sports teams and the football quality will increase with high profile coaches and improving teams. He thinks those new C-USA teams are better than us and Cincy, that is his beef. I just don't see how Utep, Marshall, Tulsa, SMU, Rice, and Central Community College are better than us and the Bearcats, but that is up for debate since Utep turned the corner with Price and Marshall has some tradition. I think the Big East will look to the C-USA for future expansion. Looking at the projected revenues and outcomes for Big East football, we will need to expand, especially if the 12 game season is approved. Compared to other BCS teams, BE teams stand to lose up to 3 million per football school without an extra home game and over 6 million per school for not having a championship game. I can now understand why Miami had problems in their budget though they had BCS money. BE football needs to be stable, there was even some talk from some Bearcat fans that they may not end up with as much money as they thought. But at least they will have a chance to play for a national championship. It is also hard to judge the on-campus response to the BE move on campus, I know many students are excited, but I wonder if we will start going to all the games. It seems as if the FAMU and Central Community are the only games I hear talked about on-campus.
  6. This could be a good thing and a bad thing. Not a good idea for getting the students that don't give a $%$@ about our basketbulls to come to the game. This past season for the Cincy game I brought three other students with me that had never attended a basketball game in their entire 3 years here. They had a lot of fun at the game and attended the last few games with me. Moving games may be good to get more fans (non-students and traditionally non-bull supporters) so that is the only good side I see with this. It would also appeal to some recruits to play in such a large arena with large crowd for big games. St. John's, UConn, Nova, Georgetown, Seton Hall, and other programs do this often.
  7. How about college basketball players and college baseball players.... ??? They miss more class time than football players. It is not about academics, it is about the move towards a playoff and true championship game.
  8. Traditionally the BE has only received one or two NCAA bids each year while C-USA normally sends 5 to 6 teams.  It will depend on the level of competetion in the BE.  Cincy's stadium is pretty nice, but if we were to model one, how about ECU's brand new stadium, that place looks awesome from the pics.
  9. I hate to say it, but next year will be ugly. :'(
  10. ^0-11, now they have to play Steve Spurrier the first game of the season and get killed on national TV.... Wouldn't the C-USA game count as an OOC game?  Finding 3 OOC games a year is still a challenge.  UConn, Rutgers, UofL, Cincy, Pitt (will play Youngstown State), and now WVU (thanks CF) are having trouble finding one D-1A opponent. Also, what about the other Big East schools?  Since they don't play a C-USA school, they would have to find another opponent, meaning they would have to look for 4 or 5 OOC games.  I am just trying to understand the logic of having an 8 member league.  I just don't see how we could schedule schools in the ACC, SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 since they only have to fill 2 or 3 OOC games depending on the season. ÂÂ
  11. We only play 7 Big East games a year = 4 OOC games during 11 game seasons and 5 during 12 game seasons.
  12. Will other BE teams like WVU and Pitt have to play C-USA teams too? I just checked on the UConn board, and it seems as if they will not play any C-USA teams and will have to fill 4 or 5 OOC games. Some guys over there believe that the deal to play C-USA schools was only for USF, Cincy, and UofL and for basketball reasons more so than football reasons. Also, since we will play a C-USA school, meaing 8 games already full, that would mean we would need 3 OOC games during 11 game years, and 4 OOC games during 12 game years. Just a thought, but will it be hard to find 3 or 4 OOC games a year?
  13. I think ECU would be a good choice. They had some really good years just a few years ago and were the kings of their state for a while. I don't see Notre Dame joining any conference for football. I also don't see Penn State leaving the Big 10. UMass would be the only other team I would consider. I don't like the idea of Memphis or UAB, but ECU seems as if they are the best fit.
  14. S.A.D.D..... Students Against Drunk Driving 0% Graduation I believe they have a player named Jihad Bin Ladin....
  15. More than likely FAMU - 38,000 (lots of in state interest) UCF - 40,000 (lots of in state interest) WVU - 35,000 (if ranked, larger turnout, if not, smaller turnout) UL - 32,000 (if ranked, larger turnout, if not, smaller turnout) UC - 17,000 (I really don't see any hype for this game unless they are ranked)
  16. Very Loud Bull Sh!t chants when the refs blow calls. I like the Hey idea too, but we should say We are gonna stomp the hell out of you, and you and you. The other cheer is too much like Maryland and other schools. When a player from the other team does something stupid, let's chant Ass Clown.
  17. True, very true. If we can stay together wihtout any off the court problems and stay healthy, then we have a great shot at the NIT.
  18. Maybe NIT, not the NCAAs. ECU has been down this season, mainly becuase they play five freshman, two second year players and one senior. We will see in weeks to come how good we really are playing against more experienced teams.
  19. We're getting the benefits of all the calls/no calls, why say it is horrible? It seems as if the refs are screwing ECU.
