In some ways, I don't see what the problem is with the article. The guy has an ECU bias and just states that the new C-USA will be stronger with 12 all sports teams and the football quality will increase with high profile coaches and improving teams. He thinks those new C-USA teams are better than us and Cincy, that is his beef. I just don't see how Utep, Marshall, Tulsa, SMU, Rice, and Central Community College are better than us and the Bearcats, but that is up for debate since Utep turned the corner with Price and Marshall has some tradition. I think the Big East will look to the C-USA for future expansion. Looking at the projected revenues and outcomes for Big East football, we will need to expand, especially if the 12 game season is approved. Compared to other BCS teams, BE teams stand to lose up to 3 million per football school without an extra home game and over 6 million per school for not having a championship game. I can now understand why Miami had problems in their budget though they had BCS money. BE football needs to be stable, there was even some talk from some Bearcat fans that they may not end up with as much money as they thought. But at least they will have a chance to play for a national championship. It is also hard to judge the on-campus response to the BE move on campus, I know many students are excited, but I wonder if we will start going to all the games. It seems as if the FAMU and Central Community are the only games I hear talked about on-campus.
