  1. Oh yeah, and in the past four years that you HAVEN'T won the World Series, your payroll has escalated from $100M to $190M.  I'm sure Steinbrenner is really happy about investing that extra roughly $200M over the four years to watch the Red Sox do the Tango on the Yankee Stadium pitcher's mound.  ;D
  2. Cubs championship drought - 97 years White sox drought - 87 years Red Sox drought - 86 years and DONE Not quite the "biggest choke ever over history" but I wouldn't expect a Yankee fan to know facts. No, they were the biggest single-season choke of all time in any major professional sport that's ever been played in the United States of America. Funny how the Yankees won the AL East and had the 2nd best record in Major League Baseball but their FANS still considered themselves underdogs, even with a 3-0 series lead.  Whatever helps you sleep better, choker.  ;D Ahh, the old 26 championships drivel, or as Bill Simmons likes to call it, Plan G.  Yankees fans, the "good old days" ended in 2000 for you.  Red Sox fans are living in them right now. Face it.  You couldn't close the deal in 2001 against Arizona, you couldn't get close to a deal in 2002 against Anaheim, you couldn't get the job done in 2003 against the Wild Card Marlins, and now you just got bitchslapped by the Wild Card Red Sox, who had the biggest party to that date in the past 86 years on YOUR FIELD with STEINBRENNER and his wallet watching.  ;D Year 2000! Year 2000! Year 2000!
  3. It's funny, because my wife and I were discussing this very item not two days ago. It's still very impressive, and you'll note the absence of many a notable team on there. I didn't go to the parade, although I was in the south shore that day. It was such a miserable day and I couldn't see subjecting my kid to hours of being outside in the cold and drizzle. We ended up watching the coverage on all the news stations and taking the Fenway Park Tour first thing Sunday morning. It was sweet!
  4. I am from Braintree, a suburb about 10 minutes south of Boston. And yeah, sports are a religion up north. It sucks down here.
  5. Pavano came up with the Sox and was sent to Montreal as part of the Pedro deal. How sweet would it be if he came back home in his prime?
  6. Actually, KR, it's not the first time it's ever happened in baseball. Link "The Sox have sold out every home game since May 15, 2003. They are set to become the fourth team in Major League history to sell out every home game, joining Cleveland Indians (1996-2000), the Colorado Rockies (1996) and the San Francisco Giants (2000). "
  7. ChiTown had a woody when Clemens was headhunting for the Yanks though. What'd you think about that Piazza beaning and the bat incident in, Chi?
  8. Because the fans are SO much more important than the actual OWNERSHIP of the team. Ask Ortiz, Yaz, Williams, and Fisk about how the Red Sox treat their stars, current and former.  And, if you think Buckner was actually a "star" in Boston, you're ignorant.  By the way, nice choke job.
  9. FYI, Manny grabbed the sign from a fan and carried it the length of the parade. They interviewed the fan who made it. Lighten up. You choked, you lost. The fact that you keep whining about Manny, Pedro, etc. just shows what a bitter little loser you are. ;D Year Two Thou-Sand! Year Two Thou-Sand! ;D
  10. Said George Steinbrenner to Dave Winfield...
  11. Yeah, THAT'LL teach Pedro to go out and win a World Series!  I mean, gosh!  What was he thinking?  : : :
  12. Between the Red Sox winning the World Series and Bonds being exposed for a roiding-up freak cheater, Smazza has been pretty scarce around these parts lately. ;D
  13. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/story/240670p-206418c.html Pavano strikes out N.Y. The Yankees and Mets can scratch Carl Pavano off their free agent lists. Pavano, who fired his previous agents at IMG and is said to be shifting to Ron Simon, has privately told friends he has no interest in pitching in New York. He is said to favor staying in Florida (if the Marlins get a stadium deal approved) or, failing that, staying east (as in the Orioles or Red Sox). Pavano is perhaps the best free agent pitcher out there. ******************* Hmm... I guess the ever-diminishing luster of playing in NYC is really going to attract those free agents, eh? He wants to play for the SOX and not the Yanks? I wonder why? It couldn't be because of an ownership that respects it's players and the chance to be part of a TEAM or anything, could it? ;D ;D ;D
  14. I'm flying out of Tampa via JetBlue tonight at 7.
  15. A side note... my grandfather went to a game in 1987 with his buddy, Jake, and wasn't happy with his seats. He bribed an usher with a 10-spot for better seats, and the usher gladly obliged. "The people who own these seats NEVER show up in the middle of the week" he was told. Ten minutes later, my grandpa was tapped on the shoulder and asked to please vacate those seats by their rightful owner, Stephen King.
  16. "The planned cover of the upcoming book "Faithful," by horror writer Stephen King and Stewart O'Nan, is shown in this image released by the publisher, Charles Scribner's Sons. The two, both Red Sox fans, are collaborating on a book that chronicles the 2004 season as the Sox seek to reverse the "Curse of the Bambino" and win their first World Series since 1918."
  17. Either way, I'll be there, so I don't care as long as it's before Monday AM
  18. "It was just reported that the stadium opened the gates in the 7th inning for the red sox fans outside the stadium so they could come in and watch the end of the game and celebrate with their team." All we ever hear of is the "Class" of the Yankees. However, I cannot ever imagine the Yankees (or even the Red Sox for that matter) doing something like this. The Cardinals are my new favorite NL team. Classiest gesture I've ever heard of. Major kudos.
  19. Parade will "probably" be Saturday, according to Boston's Mayor. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  20. Typical Yankee smack talk... only it doesn't sound so intimidating now for some reason. Blah blah blah! Year Two Thou-Sand! Year Two Thou-Sand! Worst Choke Ev-Er! Worst Choke Ev-Er! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  21. Suspence:  You're right. And so are you KR.  Yanks are in deep doo-doo if Steiney overreacts again.  But he will.
  22. Nine-Teen Fif-Ty-Four! Nine-Teen Fif-Ty-Four! CLAP!  CLAP!  CLAP-CLAP-CLAP!
