  1. Exactly. Every week, it's a challenge to think of a few questions to ask Jim that will give a little insight into the mindset of the team going into the upcoming game, knowing he won't reveal any of his cards. If you want blunt honesty from the coaching staff, catch them in the media room after the game. That's the only time you can expect to hear the truth from them. The rest is pretty much throw-away answers with a few nuggets of wisdom mixed in occasionally. If you're expecting anything else, you won't get it. Matt
  2. It's the Gulf Coast offense... where all your wideouts use canes and walkers. BW
  3. What has Howard done at FAU? He's beaten Hawaii, a middle of the road WAC team, and nobody else of value in D1-A. Middle Tenn State? North Texas? Come on, Smazza, I understand being disappointed in the offense, but crowning FAU the next Miami is a bit premature. Let's not forget that USF dusted FAU off a short two years ago by an embarassing margin. While FAU is on the right track, they've beaten nobody. Let THEM play a SC (or even a Louisville or Cincinnati) and see how they end up. Short order... our offense blows right now. But if you think FAU is better than us because they beat MTSU and North Texas, it's time to turn in the USF badge and move on. BW
  4. I asked Coach about Pat's knee, and I got a pretty terse "he's fine" response. So I'm guessing things are A-OK with Pat, or at least not serious enough to stop him.
  5. For those who hadn't seen them yet. Big Matt is in the Box - Matt Richardson Down Incognito - Yours Truly Enjoy! BullWriter
  6. Hot off the presses from the mouth of Coach Leavitt himself... Pat Julimiste is the starter on Saturday. Full recap of Leavitt's comments and the Conference USA Coaches Conference Call this evening when "Around the Conference" is published. Matt
  7. http://www.killerfrogs.com/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=13&MMN_position=26:26 South Florida Bulls (1-1): The Bulls have struggled this season only beating a 1AA team in Tennessee Tech by a 21-7 score. South Florida then lost big to South Carolina this past Saturday by a 34-3 score. South Florida has a good defense who struggles last Saturday. I do not think the USF defense can stop the Frogs offense and I do not think they USF offense has the ability to score. The Bulls scored 3 points on a South Carolina team that is not known for having a good defense. South Florida also scored a low 21 points against a 1AA team. South Florida is great at home, but away from Tampa, I would not pick the Bulls to win many games. Cowtown is a very powerful place for the Frogs as they do not lose in Fort Worth. TCU has not lost a home game since 2001. The Bulls had 191 total yards against South Carolina and gave up a whopping 530 yards. Both the TCU and USF defense are horrible and it will show this week. The fact is, USF just has no offense or defense. At least TCU has an offense but nothing else. WATCH OUT FOR - Quarterback Ronnie Banks is the best player on this South Florida team.  (HUH?)Against the Frogs he may not do too much, I look for Banks to have around 150 yards passing and the whole USF team to have less than 300 total yards. Key Game Notes: The South Florida offense will not score many points and their defense will not stop the Frogs. TCU is going to be back and ready to take on anyone as they try to get over the embarrassment they suffered on Saturday. POSITION EDGES: Quarterbacks: TCU Runningbacks: TCU Wide Receivers: TCU Offensive Line: TCU Defensive Line: TCU Defensive Secondary: USF  (huh?) Linebackers: TCU Special Teams: USF My opinion? TCU is not the only team with something to prove. If they think that Banks is our weapon and that our secondary is the best feature of our team, then I think that bodes well for our gameplan. Internet columnists... sheesh! ;D BW
  8. No, that would be CENTRAL FLORIDA, who plays them (and loses to them) in the MAC every year.  You're on the SOUTH FLORIDA board. We've never played Miami, OH. Good God, man, at least do your homework before you come talk smack.  Oh yeah, that's right, homework isn't a priority at FSU. Now be a good boy and go stock up on Halls Mentholyptus Cough Drops so you can prepare for next year's choke against Miami.
  9. Early morning brain fart, sorry. For some reason, my mind was registering 31-3 instead of 34-3. Math skills aren't terrible, but morning skills are. ;D BW
  10. uscken was right on.  Unfortunately, he wasn't a member. Mr Johnstone was off by 4 total pts (35-3)... lotsabull was off by 3 (31-6). Now, I know you're an SC fan, but three is closer than four. Regardless, neither of the USC fans who were close were registered members, so they're out.
  11. Julmiste WAS moving the offense vs TTU. Then the injury. Bringing him in in the 2nd half once the game is starting to get out of reach isn't the best way to get a barometer of where he's at. I'd rather win or lose with PJ as our #1 to get him ready for the BE than have to suffer through a season of Banks doing the same old Banks.
  12. I hear ya.  ;D If you want bad, go read Brett McMurphy this morning.  I'm sure he's tickled pink that he gets to trash the Bulls again. I do have a story to share for Down Incognito this week that relates to something I mentioned in last week's column.
  13. I'm thinking about it, but quite honestly, aside from the rude ramblings of that rgh dude, there wasn't a whole lot of stuff to write on. A lot of Banks bashing, but I don't want to go there with my columns. I'm trying to focus on the positives, not the negatives. ;D
  14. Maine hadn't played a 1-A team since 1991 and upset an SEC team. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=242620344 Just thought this might make us feel a bit better =)
  15. Well, I was half right. They picked on Jenkins/Williams all day in the secondary. However, they ran it down our throats too.
  16. Something to be positive about... we went up against a DL that was much larger than our OL, and we only gave up a single sack. Hey, gotta find a silver lining somewhere.
  17. There will be highlights beamed via satellite on Monday by USC for their press conferences.  I read it somewhere. The feed is available Mondays from 3:45-4:15 PM on C-Band, Telstar C5, Transponder 16, uplink 6245 vertical, downlink 4020M horizontal. Whatever that means  ;D Bullwriter
  18. Let's not forget we were up on Bama by quite a bit, and the crowd was all but out of the game. We LET them back in, the crowd got back into the game, and the momentum (and our lack of conditioning) just steamrolled us. If we can strike first and take out the crowd, we've got a chance. If not... it could get dicey.
  19. Good point, VG. Quentin Griffin of OU (the starting back for the Broncos now, I believe) couldn't get jack against us. It's not the run game I worry about in this one. It's whether or not they pick on Jenkins/Williams all day in the secondary.
  20. According to gousfbulls.com, all 11 games are broadcast on the radio this year. http://gobulls.usf.edu/admin/tv-radio.htm 570 AM. Also, you SHOULD be able to listen to it live over the web at: http://broadcastmonsters.com/Southflorida/Football/usf091804.asx Link not active yet. Bullwriter
  21. Believe me, if USF could televise this game, it would. Unfortunately, the broadcast rights for the game belong to USC and the SEC, and they aren't allowing it (or faciliating it, at least). In the future, maybe it's possible to include broadcast rights in the contracts we sign? Matt
