  1. So what if that's all you're allotted (allegedly).  That means you can't still come to the game?  Have ucf fans ever been to a college football game before?  There are tickets for sale everywhere outside the stadium.

Are you stupid or something?  The game was  a sellout.  If we did have fans come up and buy from scalpers how in the hell are we supposed to track that?  Have you ever been to a college football game besides a USF home game?

  2. I htink you're going to get a good interested bystander walk up crowd for the FAMU game.  But do I think FAMU is gonna come out in force personally?  I don't know.

You'll be pleasantly surprised by teh boost you'll get from UCF attendance for our match.  I can guarantee you that it will be larger than any other walk up/ visiting crowd outside of FAMU.  Also, our attendance help will be consistent year after year, whereas, the FAMU attendance boost is going to be a one shot deal.  The novelty will wear off after this single game.

  3. 1200 fans to the USC game?  The rumor perpetuated on the Unmoderated board is they bring so many more to away games than USF.  Looks like maybe 200 more last week to a drivable road game.

    Another myth shot down.

You know that was all USC alloted to us right?  So we sold out and had to turn away a lot of interested buyers.  Can you say "Insert foot in mouth"?  Geez Brad you're taking a nose dive lately.

  4. No but honestly ET.  You are probably the guy with the worst case of green and gold glasses.  I know you're not being malicious.  But UCF is much better than last year.  Steve Spurrier commented that Moffet was better than many SEC quarterbacks that USC would face this year.  So I'm pleased with our progress.  I know that USF isn't just going to roll over for us, but I can't wait to see where Vegas puts the line.  I'll bet they put us ahead by a couple of points.

  5. Give UCF some credit.  They were able to do some nice things against South Carolina.  I thought after it was 14-0 that it would turn into a blowout, but to my surprise, they hung tough.  I thought O'Leary made some bad coaching moves in that fourth quarter, but the kids played tough.

Corso commented after the game that he could see an upset by UCF in two weeks at.....South Florida.  Hope that doesn't happen.  I know alot of this board bashes UCF, but after last nights performance give credit where credit is due.

    Thank you.

  6. For example, how about the cheap shot your coach took at Dennis King- said he transfered to BCC because he didn't want to be scout team...yet now we're reading that the coaches are struggling to find DE's that aren't freshmen.  Maybe it's that type of attitude that keeps the other transfers away.

HEY STK, I can tell you what's the difference between a JC star, and another that transfers from a 1-A school with two years left to play.  Talent, and intelligence.  The 1-A transfer has proven they are capable of handling the rigors of a four year academic institution, and furthermore they usually have the experience and knowledge of at least going against similar 1-A talent in practice- JC's have neither advantage.

First point.  Classic spin and lies.  The actual quote from George O'Leary was that Dennis King felt in his own mind that he would be a scout player.  That is not what O'Leary thought of him.  The quote sounds like GOL tried to encourage him to stay but that Dennis King didn't think he was going to make the two deep.  You need to cut out the misquoting bullsh!t.

What's the difference between a JC and a D1A transfer?  The JC's are better athletically than the 1A transfer.  Lookat Andre Hall.

Patrick Carter is so good that he was cut by the Gators.  Oh that's talent.  Vince Wilson was so good that USF couldn't even find a scholarship for him coming out of high school.

It is much more likely that you will have success athletically with a JUCO transfer but they are riskier academically.

However, I'm not stating that these transfers are detrimental to USF.  USF has a very high washout rate among their signing classes, so these transfers help balance the upper to lower classmen ratios.  USF always holds a schollie open just for this case.  It's part of their strategy at present.

Call me crazy but I'd much rather have instant access to a player than to have to wait a year.

  7. Transfers worked out extremely well for USF early on.  I think it had to do with their 1AA transitional status.  The 1A transfers didn't have to sit.  You could get the best transfer athletes and you got to use them for an extra year than the normal.  Now they're getting stung by the fact that those players aren't available.  USF also has more room for transfers most years because they have a somewhat high attrition rate in their recruiting classes.  They take chances and make up for losses later by accepting transfers.  So their overall numbers remain relatively stable.  The only deficiency is that you have a guy like Amp Hill who would blow away the rest of their receivers but he's got to sit.

  8. UCF wil bring 5,000 at the most they have lost many games and have no passion for their team... Except for UCF fans that are on this board they do have passion...

I don't have definite numbers but on the UCF Dungeon, a lot of people have bought tickets in blocks of 10 or more.  We'll bring greater than 5,000.  Question, do you have our visiting tickets all in one section or did you sprinkle them in?

  9. Penn State has a decent running game.  They had no real pass attack last year.  But if Morelli the wonder boy takes over, I expect that to change.  And Robinson may actually turn it around.  The guy is a heckuva athlete and has an arm.  Watch out for PSU.  I wouldn't doubt this is a breakout year for them.  Nothing against the Bulls.  But when I saw UCF play them last year, and I saw PSU play Iowa... I saw a lot of potential there.  They just shot themselves in the foot a lot.  And they signed a couple of five stars in the last recruiting class.  They may continue to shoot themselves.  But if their QB situation is resolved, they have enough talent to defintely be considered a contender for Big 10 champs.

  10. A buddy of mine was over there recently taking his daughter to softball camp. He was impressed with the wokr our guys are putting in out there-- really busting ass every morning in voluntary workouts-- 50+ guys out there at 7:30am running their asses off.

He's a big Georgia fan but has coached area kids for years. His daughter-- a promising 8th grader -- is set on going to USF. He told me that he recently tried to coax one of his former guys from making the mistake of going somewhere besides USF (a school to the east of us). That made me smile.

Was the kid a student or a scholarship athlete?

  11. No I thought your LBs last year were good and that this year is gonna be a solid crew.

You really disliked Javon Camon that much?

I guess Johnnie Jones at safety will change that a lot.

So this year you expect to have Tim Jones back, and he's one of your better players at the DT spot right?  Better than whomever you had manning the spot last year?

  12. True, that's part of the equation as well. But other schools like Louisville have recruited in Florida for ages, and it didn't hurt the Big Three in the late 80s-early 90s.

What was the timing of the scholarship reductions?  If the fact that the big three could only keep 85 scholarship players on roster coincides with the drop off in supremacy, then I think the original article has prove its point.

  13. My guess is conference play reality has set in for UCF.  Bowls are tied in based on conference standings and not based on high quality OOC wins.   I certainly would like to see us take on big name opponents.  However, we've got to get return games.  The NC State series was one I wish we would have kept.  The Georgia series I could care less about.

  14. Just to chime in.  PSU was a good defense last year and not a lot of O.  They seemed to be very unprepared.  Robinson was getting baptised by fire.  They couldn't even handle the snap.  However, they did have some horses on the offense, and their new OC was trying to slowly bring them along.  Robinson is one heckuva an athlete with a good arm.  He makes brash decisions, he doesn't get that deer in the headlights look you see on Julmiste.  If he's really got it together, they will be awesome.  Especially considering the two "five star" prospects they picked up this february.  If Robinson doesn't come out slinging they got this guy named Morelli waiting in the wings and that kid is no slouch either.  I think PSU is going to have a great year, and unfortunately you guys have to be their first opponent.
