  1. I agree with Smazz.  It's not going to be a good bang for the buck.  They're going to break away if they hit 10K.  Sorry for putting the screws to you over commuter college stereotyping.  Who cares if someone got their degree at a commuter college?  As long as that school has accreditation, and the students are being taught what they're supposed to know, then it's all good.  But I think Hitt would have put his money into the main campus.  The satelite locations that UCF maintains aren't much to holler at.  I've seen their course listings and heard them over the Closed Circuit TV network.  A lot of times they're just attending class remotely or going through FEEDS.  But all it does is give them another semester or two before they have to move out to our main campus.

  2. They are satelite offices where we use space generally from a community college.  It's not a full fledged 10K student endeavor which may break away.  I knew that we offered those things, and I know that UF does as well.  Heck I think we still run the engineering department for UNF.  But none of those locations have 515 acres of land.  It's not a pot and kettle thing.  However, here's the rub.  Adding 10K students from one of the worst performing regions of Florida is not gonna be conducive to your selectivity ratings.  Especially when it is 10K students who couldn't be bothered to change their locales to get a college education.  With all that said, I think that USF opening a campus out there will be a service to that community.  If USF wouldn't have stepped up to do it, then I would hope that UCF would have filled in.  But as it stands I think that Hitt wouldn't have approached it.  The emphasis is on enlarging our main campus, and getting an upper echelon of students.  But our goal should also be to serve the community and if USF hadn't undertaken this then maybe Hitt should have looked at it.

  3. In my opinion... he will end up at UCF if it becomes between us and them. New coach with a new system. O'Leary will get a transfer better than what they have starting now... he will learn O'Leary's system during the summer and watch the other QB go down in flames during the fall... their current QB really isn't all that IMO. Others might disagree, but after watching the kid, I don't personally think he could lead UCF to sand if we left him in a desert. O'Leary will recruit a good QB that he can redshirt with Rascati at the helm during the 2005 season. Rascati will win the battle at QB during the spring of 2005. He will give us fits when we play them, but we take care of business in the first edition of the "War on I-4".

Sheriff is a forward thinking kind of guy.  But I think he's gonna end up with you.  Moffet was more highly regarded coming out of high school.  We could probably use more depth at that position.  But I think Rascatti has got to like the chances of taking out a starter at USF.  Then Jim may not be interested because he thinks he can hold out and grab a HS qb next year, and it would help to get a better hs qb if he doesn't pick up a new QB on the depth chart.  Is jim hot in talks with any area QBs of promise?
