    The issue with relegation...

Would it only apply to Football? Or would it apply to the entire Athletics department?

Because, a team can be great in football and garbage in basketball (and vice versa - e.g. UCONN). How do we weigh this?

It would likely only work if football was on their own when it comes to conferences.  Conceptually, it would be similar to how NCAA hockey looks, except on a grander scale.

This statement is true, but you are mixing up the groups.

Tampa Bay Sports Commission (headed by Rob Higgins) bids to bring in events to Tampa. Michael Kelly and Rob are friends and work well together.

Tampa Sports Authority runs the opperations of Raymond James Stadium and a couple golf courses. (USF is good with them too)

Slip of the tongue, thanks for the clarification.

  3. The NCAA and the Tampa Sports Authority are very much friendly with each other.  Tampa has hosted the Frozen Four 3 times, the Women's Final Four 3 times (4th time in 2025), and last years volleyball national championship, among other events.  I'd have to say Tampa has a good chance at hosting the FCS title game for a few years.  Frisco, TX has hosted for 14 years so far, so it could be a lucrative relationship.

I noticed the Canes sponsor. I had Canes when I was out in Phoenix. Good chicken fingers. Think they have been expanding east & have eventually made it to Florida

Closest location to campus are two in Clearwater, then two in Orlando area.  Hopefully more soon.

Back from the game.  Other than the team's play and the great victory, this lower-level bowl absolutely sucked from a fan's perspective.

Absolutely no pre-kickoff activity of interest on the field.  The bands did not appear, all of a sudden the first parachuter appeared under the lights and hit the ground 2 seconds later.  The PA announcer sounded surprised people were dropping in when he said and that was so and so Navy seal.  NO ONE knew they were in the sky on their way down.  There was zero in-game fan cams, dance cams, etc.  Also, not the bowl's fault I guess, but the bands were on same side of the stadium as their fans.  If you weren't sitting in the section next to them or behind them, you couldn't hear them at all.  We were in 125 and could only hear the Syracuse band as they were facing us.

Now, what we need to learn from FAU's stadium.  It was an okay facility, but you could not hear the PA announcer if you were on the other side of the 50 away from the video screen where the only speakers were.  The wifi and cell coverage was awful.  Parking was a super mess with really bad signage and no one helping with the flow into the lots.  People were kind of on their own making a bunch of U-turns and trying to find the entrance to the cash lot.  After waiting in a long, long line around 6:15, we made it to the entry and there were only 2 guys taking the cash.  We were with some friends who go to all the FAU home games and they said they have none of these issues when FAU is in control.  Many of the concessions were closed and there were really long lines at the bars.  They ran out of a lot of food at half time.

Bottom line is these made-for-tv ESPN bowls not in NFL stadiums care little about the fan experience.  They only want to sell ads and that's it.  All that being, said we had a GREAT time and the victory was super sweet.  It's been a while.

    GO BULLS!

I can concur with all of this.  I had a great time, but the fan experience points @79 Bull stated about the band location (should have had the bands in the endzones), the cell signal, the parking operations/logistics. Stadium audio was awful too, being limited to just some speakers around the tiny video board.

One note that I ran into that maybe some of you also did, but I had my tickets in my Apple wallet and upon arrival to the gate the attendant was very confused and looked for the barcode.  Apple wallet tickets usually dont have barcodes.  It took a good couple minutes until a supervisor with another scanning device figured it out and we were let in.

All in all, the game was great but the fan experience could have been a little better.

It's a legit email if you proof the links included.  Did everyone who received it go to the FSU basketball game?  We had to go through the OB portal to claim the tickets similar to the Boca Bowl.  I wonder if ticketmaster has some auto settings to generate these emails and if you've received an email from the OB in the past regarding tickets, it just spit them out in error??

I have not gone to the Orange Bowl basketball games, but I did see somewhere that the Orange Bowl organization is affiliated with the Boca Bowl somehow.  I can't find the page now, but I know I saw it somewhere.

Edit: this is from 2015, but likely still something thats in effect. https://www.southdadenewsleader.com/sports/orange-bowl-and-boca-raton-bowl-team-up-again/article_1f506646-7447-11e5-8200-7f9fd766187d.html

The Marmot Boca Raton Bowl and Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) will join forces for a second year in which the OBC will expand its operational and media relations assistance and now provide ticket sales and operations support.

Wonder how Syracuse is doing on their sales. Have to think there are more than a few New Yorkers that live in the area. How many support the Orange enough to go to the game, plus travelers? If this bowl is nearly sold out, that will be super cool.

There are still seats available for general sale on the bowl website, and who knows how many of the currently unavailable seats arent going to be sold.  Here's the listed attendance for their previous games.

    I'm guessing 5K.

Doing some quick math on the bowl Ticketmaster site, our lower sideline seating from sections 121-130 seats between 2500-2600 and its all mostly unavailable (minus a few resale tickets).  I was assigned about halfway up 224, so we definitely have a solid chunk in the 200s as well, and the blocked off parts of the 200s have more rows.  We could be pushing 7500-8000 down there, maybe more.

He also mentioned they are practicing at Boca Raton High School which is 5 mins from their hotel and right across the street from FAU campus. It is an artificial turf which is probably best as the high school grass fields down here are rough.

HOT Band also has said they have a public rehearsal at Boca Raton HS on Wednesday 12/20 from 1230-4pm

Thanks for posting the Boca Bowl portal website. I saw all the messages from people who received emails from USF, but I received nothing. My 15 digital tickets were there on the portal site though. Originally these were promised for Tuesday. There must have been issues getting them out, and further problems communicating with customers. But I'm happy I follow this board and finally figured it out.

I never saw a "promise" date, just the week of the 11th.

I didn't get an email with the link.  Checked my USF and ticketmaster accounts and the tickets are not there.  Can someone post the link or is it personalized?

    GO BULLS!

It's not in the USF portal, it appears to be in the official bowl games portal.  You use the same login.  Not sure if the link is personalized or not.

The subject line was "One Week Until The Boca Raton Bowl!" and was sent around 2:30PM ET.

I think the ticket manager site is https://am.ticketmaster.com/bocaratonbowl/.  Use your usual USF tickets/Ticketmaster login and see if they're there.
