  1. I have 3 letters for you BCS. Closer to the top 3.
  2. Believe it or not we aren't completly helpless in our negotiation. We do have another venue in the area we can use. Back in the day TSA tried to stick it to us and we turned around and drew up plans to play at Tropicana. A football filed does fit at a slight angle to the main stands. Now most of this was done as a negotiation tool but we did heavly consider this in the early days. The biggest reason for this raising the rent is TSAs cost have gone up and they need to recoup some of their cost. We have always had a good relationship with them. Just remember we almost played at Tropicana.
  3. Turn over on a college team is normal and it doesn't sound like volleyball isn't loosing anyone steller. I think they brought Castelamare in on an acedemic schol. till they have one open next year. To answer the previous question. BN I started USF in 90 and I'm the original reaper. Perhaps that helps . What are yours?
  4. My guess is C Hill. He's a big athletic kid who was just lost out their this year. I would have red shirted him but their may be more going on their. I have you seen Grothe he's not very big. I saw him on the side lines and he's shorter than me and I'm a tad under 6 ft. Hill for his age is a monster. Grothe may have an arm I'm not sure. I only saw him at practice once. PJ has gotten bigger but still throws a low ball or a lob. Their seems to be very little velocity on his passes and his accurcy even with 5 to 10 yrds is suspect at best.
  5. We of couse only secured our first bowl this year. But bowl money is split among the confrence members. Confrence USA bowls are usually loosers in terms of money. So your split is lower especially among 12 members. If UCON had gotten the Mein Car Care and we would have gone to an at large like Motor City the confrence makes more money. As for basketball no we don't have a great track record but we usually finish middle of the pack making us look like the Lakers compared to UCF. As for Memphis it has a nice market great basketball, nice airport for travel, and ok football. Their biggest knock is its not known as a great academic school.
  6. Ahh...The good ol days Death Row days. It was pretty fun game. Only two of us were there and we sat about a foot from the Bench and blasted their players. They were pissed. I thought this big girl on the end of the bench was going to pound us after I made a comment about getting her panties in a wad. They then tried to kick us out of that game. The refs threw us out of that game but Ron Masko the asst. AD got us back in after having a confrence with our coach, their coach and the refs. That was the last time we were allowed to use the cones thought. They found some rule in the confrence handbook that said no noise makers. Big bummer, those things used to drive them nuts. By the way the team we played was Louisville. The funny thing is the following year my darn cousin became the asst. coach for Louisville and my Dad said he would kick my ass if I caused any problems. Darn I miss those cones. Back to the topic, Perry was a great coach but the the AD was left with no choice after some allegations surfaced.
  7. I believe the five years was in refrence to the TV contract and the impact a break up would have on this revenue. Confrence break ups seem to happen around those times.
  8. To answer your question the SunDome is owned like the rest of the University by the State of Florida. SunDome Inc. runs the building and day to day operations. This was done for liablity issues and to encourage the SunDome Inc to make money and lower University cost.
  9. Sorry UCF needs to look elseware. Their is no way the Big East will add them. If the Big East Splits up into 2 confrences look for the Big East to add one team Memphis and stay a 9 team confrence. Adding teams that don't make money bowls or who don't excel in Baskeball is a waste of time. Marshall is a remedial school and ECU sits in the sticks with no TV market (not to mention it sucks in B-ball as bad as we do). Why split your money with school with no upside. UCF has done some good things as of late and seem to be moving in the right direction. Hopefully O'Leary stays and doesn't get sucked up by a bigger program. UCF may one day be their but they aren't close yet. As for who would be invited if they went to 12 Memphis, TCU, UAB, Southern Miss. Don't count on that thought.
  10. I appreciate your opion but their are factors at play beyond wins and losses. Mac will be here at least till after next season. If he has another season like this one he will get bounced. Believe it or not people who know basketball respect USF and Mac and while our record is competely horrid the team as shown spunk and promise.
  11. Cardieri is a good coach and a great guy. Basball recruiting is an interesting animal unlike other sports you directly compete with Magor League Basball for players. Eddie targets great players in recruting and loose out to MLB. Its a hard sell. The reason the baseball field hasn't seen any upgrades even though we have a good chunk of money, is because the Softball staidum needs an update and their are Title IX concerns. As for question who's going to be fired I think you really need to rephrase whos going to resign.
  12. That sucks you just missed the first year we won the Sunbelt and went to the NCAA's
  13. I happen to agree with Mike B. While Mac's record is horrid, he does runs a clean program and he bouces the thugs off the team. Some of the factors Mike is talking about ; Seth left this team a wreck, as a school we don't have a strong basketball history, Florida is not the strongest basketball state, (both those issues hurt recruiting.) the move from C-USA where we would have won some games to the Big East (probably the strongest basketball confrence ever) hurt us. I'm sure he will be back next year but if he has another year like this one he will be gone. On a side note dump the tags, each one of your post takes half a page and it sucks to have to scroll past that to get to the next post.
  14. No, I missed it. I haven't done the Louisville thing in a while but plan to make it up their when we play UofL.
  15. I can't believe someone dug up info on St X . Most of my family went to St X. Hell the basketball gym is named after my uncle (and if you don't think thats a big deal you don't know how much people in Kentucky and southern Indiana love their basketball). I of course bucked the trend and started at Trinity the cross town rival. You don't understand alumni support till you see what those schools put together.
  16. When Paul Griffen took over the athletic dept we were big time in the red to the point that the athletic dept was talking to the University about a bail out. Paul was forced to make some hard decsions and cut some of our most sucessful programs to get us back into the black. He made some hard decsions and took alot of flack to set the foudation of good athletic program. As for you comment about plenty of money look where we stand finacialy among BCS schools and all of that money we get doesn't look so big.
  17. I thinks its great way to expose USF to other area and the more people that experience the Bay area the better.
  18. Thank you Mike. It looks like Shoop doesn't understand the concept of branding. While I agree if we don't use the shield it will go away I think the U is far more marketable than the shield.
  19. Its nice that you spent the time designing a new floor but their are a few problems with your design. 1st The U's on the end of the court while nice need to be replaced by South Florida or USF. Putting South Florida in the green area means you can't see it. And its all about TV. So away they go. 2nd The shield while cool looking doesn't seem to match what any of the teams are using, meaning we loose our indentity. It's all about TV. Away it goes. 3rd Since the Sundome owns the floor you have to have their name on it. It's all about TV. 4th Theirs has always been talk that we should put Tampa somewhere on the court to est. an idenity. It's all about TV. 5th Have you tried to get gold paint. Its horribly expensive if you can find it and trying to paint it on wood is a major headache. It's also all about money. A little history on the current floor. It was a demo floor that Robbins sold us at a discount (about 80,000)sometime in the late 80's. It was a replacement from when the original Sundome floor that got warped from rain when the roof caved in. That floor was sold and sent somewhere up North in the mid 90's. The current floor has been fully repainted 3 times and had the confrence logo changed 3 times (not counting the last major repaint for the Big East) It has been refinshed numerous times and has two pieces replaced due to damage. Its been set up in 3 other venues (the Trop, Ice Palace, and Lakeland). The dead spots are normal for portable floors although ours seems to have a few more due to its age and the number of times its taken apart. Go bulls.
  20. I'm usually a lurker on the boards but I decided to stick my nose into this one. I think I can help you with getting tech support for this girl. Velcro is corrrect Dragon Naturally Speaking is the best program out there for this girl to use and if you give me a call, in the district at X42932, I will see if I can get a copy of it to, give to this girl. Go bulls!
