  1. Fulmer was my number one choice last time. Dude always had Tennessee with 10 wins a year. Good recruiter too. My second was Tubs. With his FL ties I thought he would be a good fit. Skip was way down on my list. My theory was why would we want a Coach that we destroyed in a Bowl Game. Look it up, we killed ECU in the Pizza Bowl that one year. Put up 24 points quick and then Grothe went down with an injury. We would have put up 40 on them that day with a healthy Grothe. And their offense couldn't do squat (which looks alot like ours now at times).

Wow this sounds awfully familiar like I've seen it somewhere before. hmmm.......

  2. USF won't buy Holtz out and he won't be fired.

This is USF, not FSU, UF, or a similar big time school. I doubt USF has the alumni like those other schools to really run a coach out of town.

The best thing Woolard and company can do it is to take the defensive coordinator decision out of Holtz's hands.

  3. Thats what I think of everytime I hear or read this....

"We had an inside play called initially," he (HOLTZ) said. "We had been having some success up the middle. It wasn't half a yard. It was a yard and a half, a little bit longer. We felt as much as we had gone inside, Coach Fitch mentioned we could get on the perimeter with the Big T, which I thought really was a good idea. As much as we had run quarterback sneaks and fullback bellies and things like that up inside, we didn't execute. We ran right by one defender. Again, I don't think it's as much the play call as the job we did executing the play. They did have the middle of it loaded."

"But the school could be on the hook for about $8-$10 million if it decides in the next few years Holtz is the wrong person to run its football program."

"Temple made a nice rebound since joining the Mid-American Conference, but doesn't figure to pose a threat in '12. In the last three years, it has not beaten a MAC team with a winning record and has the fewest returning starters in the Big East "

You should be able to pencil in Temple and Syracuse as victories for USF, which means all Holtz has to do is win two of his other five conference games to have a winning record in the Big East and a few more might give the Bulls that elusive title."

  5. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/video-holtz-talks-after-usf-loss-temple#comments

This is the first time I have seen him sit down during an interview. He looks dejected

    Comments:

    • 1st Video: On the 15 yard personal foul penalty by shaw which moved the ball to the 23 yard line was rather insignificant because temple drove down the field and scored on that drive. (IMO USF just took 15 yards off the drive)
    • 2nd Video: Holtz is claiming that the team is ready for a break due to summer camp and the games played
    • 2nd Video: He basically saying that the defense it out of whack but will not come out and say it. (Good Job Auman calling out the facts at 1:49 mark saying Temple punted 2 times in 6 drives in the 2nd half)
    • 3rd Video: This just sad to hear between the 0:56 mark and the 1:53 mark. essentially said the call was good the execution was bad

    Overall:

    • Too much coach speak not stating what needs to happen to improve.

  6. SKIP

    get out of

    TOWN!

I only thought that was funny. I actually feel sorry for the guy. I did not think this job would be over his head. If he gets fired from USF it will really impact his coaching career. Then he will need to build it back up. Maybe once Gus Malzahn takes a bigger job after Arkansas State he can go back to his home state of Arkansas and coach up the ASU Red Wolves..

  7. Jay Gruden: (signed a 3 year $1.2M/yr contract with the Bengels in 2012)

    Phillip Fulmer (Not Currently Coaching)

If USF goes on the search this year they will be competing with

    1. Auburn

    2. Arkansas

    3. Kentucky

Also whoever is chosen will need to bring in a staff that is able to hit the ground running.

  8. Woulard and company will have their work cut out for them over the next couple of days and weeks. First something needs to happen to show how the importance of USF football to restore some confidence back to the donors, season ticket holders and fans. Then they have to figure out how to reverse the trend to prevent USF from becoming a toxic program that no one wants to touch.

But then again I can be wrong. maybe the revenue they get just by showing up for the games is enough.

  9. Ridiculous. All talk. You aren't and nobody on here is really going to start collecting $$ for a buyout and IF you did I bet you would fall short of $1000. Everybody understandably is talking based on emotion any true reaction will NOT occur in such a manner.

I don't think it is a matter of people not willing to contribute. It is a matter of not trusting someone to maintain and take ownership of the trust.
