  1. Now that you have been relegated to the transient conference, you should be expected to win many conference championships I am not so sure it was all Skip's fault. I think Jim Leavitt had a way of getting more from his players than others, and that was a big reason for some success. I think USF also required Skip to have higher academic standards than Leavitt, which hurt some of the recruiting. But these are just casual observations, I don't know much about the inner workings of the Bulls' program. As for your analogy you also forgot part. The new workers all paid a fee to join the house and sign the agreement and left their other employment to join this one because it had a better clientel. Afterwards All the best and most profitable ladies left to go work for Guido the killer pimp and the best clients went with them. To compensate the house for taking the clients with them and to help them keep the house open until they could build the clientel up again, the ladies that left had to pay a fee. Now the existing ladies want to spend all that money on plastic sugery for themselves in hopes that they too can go work for Guido. The new members want to pay the rent, buy beds and keep the house open so they can build up the clientel because they know that they will likely be there for a while. Neither one "earned" the money on their backs. They just have different agendas. Which one is based upon greed?
  2. Too bad this thread has disintigrated into the usual UCF/USF banter. It started out as a discussion about what should be done with the exit fee money. From reading the paper today it seems that the decision will be made by a panel of representatives of 6 schools. UC, Uconn, USF, UCF, Memphis and SMU. With three old members and three new members there will have to be some compromise. It will be interesting to see how this power play ends up.
  3. Actually if you look through this thread, my comments were only in response to the usual "UCF sucks commentary". Until then I pretty much stayed on the topic of the money distribution. It was the USF fans (like you) that lowered the bar. As for your comments, meh, it is a new day. I get that you are bitter that you squandered your advantage and chance to improve your program with years of BCS money and recruiting pitches. I get that despite what you have been fed from the university you finally have a dose of reality that USF has no real national pull or following (hey look! another sleeping giant!), I get that in the great money grab that is conference affiliation that despite many years in a BCS conference a program like USF has to sit back and hope that the stars align and someone has an empty roster spot and that there is no other alternative. it is something that I came to grips with about UCF years ago. Yes UCF wanted to be where USF has been over the last 7-8 years and just when we thought we would be, the Big East crashes and burns taking you down with it. I get that you are more than upset that you are now at an equal level with lowly UCF. I get that your claim to fame is to beat a good program and then lose three consecutive games to various lower ranked teams. I understand that USF has absolutely tooled UCF on the football field and that most UCF fans are bitter about that, but I also understand that in the grand scheme of things it all starts fresh this year in a new conference. I get that you could never compete for a championship of any kind because you were too inconsistent and lost games you should have won (if you really had that good of a team to begin with). Get used to the fact that for the foreseeable future you are exactly the same as UCF. Nothing is going to hit the fan in Orlando because as you say, UCF has nowhere to go but up.
  4. at least we have aspirations of grandeur and have been part of the haves and have $30 million to show for it. It far exceeds your aspirations of being us and your constant cellar dwelling. Yes you will be a wealthy cellar dwelling mid major. Like I said. We will see how far that gets you now that you no longer have the advantages that conference affilation brought you. It should be an interesting few years.
  5. I have posted on and off here for about 6-7 years. Just when I find the time and topic that is interesting and worth discussion. When USF and UCF stopped playing each other I did not come here. Now that we will be conference buddies (sarcasm intended) I thought I would stop by once again.
  6. . it's not ideal that's for sure but it certainly is a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. If anything we should be owed more for having to hangout with you losers but as you pointed out $30 million dollars and bag of **** seems like our best option at this point. Rest assured we aren't happy about it and want to minimize our time in this "league" as you can't play with **** without getting some on you. You are a joke, we don't care about goodwill, we don't want to make friends we want to leave you behind and wish you nothing but the worst, it's our money, we earned it and we would just as soon set it on fire before sharing it with your undserving Johnny come latelies that have further devalued our brand (something we once thought to be impossible). Well I guess we will see how it all pans out for you since this probably the last time you will get to pretend that you are anything more than a mid-major program with aspirations of grandeur. Welcome back.
  7. I can only give you the long explanation....by my convoluted process...Actually documented....but don't ask for link... A couple had 20 close friends. and they were low income and co-misserated their economic situation...They played the Lottery won MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.....and since it was UN-EARNED windfall the other 20 close friends wanted/demanded/expected some of the cash... The couple did not do this to their friends demands.. ...one by one communication stopped and friendships lost...In the end there were no friends left..Hence --the money did not bring the happiness expexted.. The old three are like the couple and the Lottery winning --money from the BE breakup...The friends the NEW conference teams.... Its a no win situation for the old 3....Damned if we give money,,Damned if we don't its a NO WIN Thats my take on the present situation...The jealousy will kill this conference .....before it gets started...each member going after their own interest and no common good will....... SORRY TO EXPRESS THIS DOOM AND GLOOM Go Bulls You forgot to add that the unhappy couple had promised their reprebate friends an interest in any potential lotto proceeds if they moved closer to them and so the friends all sold their houses to move to be with their new friends just in case they might win. When they won the unhappy couple decided that they were not going to share. The friends asked at least for the costs in moving to to their new homes, as they did rely upon their promisees but that unhappy couple did not see why they should be responsible for their friends stupid decisions. They should just be glad they moved and were closer to their rich friends. false you are getting exactly what you were promised a conference with the big east leftovers as well as a bigger tv contract than you were receiving in conference USA. On top of that you are getting a million dollar bonus. This **** house is exactly what you signed up for and the only reason you and your band of misfits are even here is because the conference is in such embarrassing disrepair. We don't care if you are mad, we don't like you, we didn't choose you, you have nowhere else to go, we are embarrassed to be seen with you, $30 million hardly makes the embarrassment worth it and we can't wait to get on one of the last lifeboats and leave you to drown. Now sit down and shut up you will get nothing and like it because its your only choice. No we are not getting what we were promised (See I can argue like you too). Heck, even if UCF had said no to the Big East, the A12 would be knocking on the door again now because the conference needs us. Just like USF needs us. I understand your butt hurt and all but guess what? You have no place to go either. USF brings the exact same thing to the table that UCF does, which by itself is very little. From all I read the only lifeboat you have was made for two and the only way you get on is with us in tow. I can only imagine how that must frustrate you. But just maybe you will learn to live with us. the important diference between us is that where ever we end up we are going to have 30 million more dollars than you will and we aren't sharing. Why you may ask? Because **** you that's why. Glad that makes you feel better about being stuck with us.
  8. When a merger happens, generally one side does not get to sell the name and goodwill after the deal is inked. But really, you cannot say that the conference UCF is joining now is the same it thought it was joining before. I guess you guys should have spent as much on the lawyers you paid to work on your Big East contract as you did on the ones working diligently to **** the Plancher family out of their money. Who says they didn't? The neogitations are not over yet.

  10. It's not that we are missing the feeble argument that you are trying to make. IT'S JUST WE DON"T GIVE A ****!!!!! We want our money and we want out. And that means out w/o you. We are not some half-baked expansion partner of FCKU's. That idea began in Orlando and is as is as big a fantasy as anything found at Disneyland. Every conference you join becomes mediocre by the mere addition of The Kannigits. Go away, we are not your big brother. we will call you if we need you. Oh now your feelings are hurt...sorry about that but more than likely you are stuck with us. So it is time you started to care. You have been demoted and the reality has set in that you were never really a big player to begin with. If you were, you would not be stuck in purgatory with your most loved program. Getting all mad and ranting will not make us go away so try not to end every discussion you have with a mindless insult. I know it will be hard for you. Getting rid of FCKU is like having a dog humping your leg. You really can't convince him that you don't want it somehow. You may as well start to like it because the humping is not ending in any foreseeable future.

  14. Again I think you are all missing the point of my argument. UCF IS NOT JOINING THE BIG EAST. They were supposed to join the Big East, but that conference does not exist any more. Now we are joining an alliance of teams in a new conference. Pay back UCF for the entrance fee for joining the Big East, pay the CUSA exit fees from the money you get. Then everyone (including USF) pays an entry fee to fund the new conference. You get to keep everything that is left which should still be 10 or 12 million. That ends any question of greed. Or let the new teams "join" the A12 or whatever without any entry fee. But you can't have it both ways. That is greed.
  15. Of course we suffered damages. We paid CUSA and forfieted TV revenues to "join the Big East" which no longer exists. When UCF signed on the dotted line they had a vested interest in the value of that conference. They just did not have a say on how that interest would be protected. Now the existing three are making a money grab by selling the name and liquidating any value that conference might still have so that they can get paid. As long as you insist that some conference still exists and we joined it then we also suffered damages. Your argument should be that we did not suffer as big of damages as USF did to which I say you also bear a portion of the blame. The BE leadership should have been proactive a long time ago to protect its interests. Instead they took a myopic self-centered view of thier priorities. Especially the USF leadership. We joined the Big East, but now that name and all the goodwill that goes with it has been sold, so what are we joining? Nothing. The remaining three teams have nothing on their own. You are nothig without the new members. So take your money, and join the "new conference". But can we stop the "joining the Big east conference" BS?
  16. Posted this earlier but it bears repeating as an argument .... Biggest reason is that the 3 remaining were, I assume, making financial decisions years in advance banking on a certain level of revenue. The exit money will give them time to transition to that lower revenue stream. Don't have a big problem, though, with spreading out the money and forfeiting if invited to better conference ... My guess is that they cannot make this arguement because there is likley a clause somewhere that says if the league disbands then there is no exit fees.
  17. If not for the other schools bailing out, UCF wouldn't be in the Big East America 12. Sorry to burst your bubble. (Not really) " How is this bursting my bubble? I never said anything to the contrary. The reality is that at the moment nobody in the A12 brings anything special to the table. If we are going to continue to pretend that anyone has invited anyone to an existing conference then the money needs to be shared for everyone's loss. If we are going to look at it as it really exists then nobody is joining a conference. We are just a bunch of leftovers forming a new alliance. Therefore all obligations to the BE from new schools are wiped out, entry fees paid (if any) are paid back, and USF, UC and Uconn get to keep whatever is left of the Big East. But USF cannot do this because if the conference is dead, then the obligations to pay exit fees are dead as well. So call it what you want, someone is going to be labled greedy no matter what.
  18. Really no skin off my teeth, this is a discussion on a message board so I thought I might contribute to show that this is percieved as a money grab on both sides of the table. I personally think it is sad that USF is back in the minors.
  19. I admit that USF is not "driving" the value of the media deal. Hell, the media deal is so lousy that i wouldn't want us to take responsibility for it, LOL. Fact is, none of the football programs have any TV value worth mentioning, and only UConn, Cincy, Memphis, and arguably Temple basketball do, and evidently they aren't worth all that much either. So i do not claim that USF is responsible for more of those media dollars than is UCF. That said, a 90/10 split of the $100 million in Big East legacy money is eminently fair, as who should get those dollars has nothing to do with current media value. It has to do with who participated in the conference during the time those exit, entry, and basketball credit fees were earned, and that means it should go to USF, Cincy, and UConn. Because that's how it works in every conference: Schools get conference money that is "earned" if they are members of the conference when it is earned. So really, the actual split should be 100/0 in our favor. We are entitled to all of it. Thus, a 90/10 split already represents us giving the newbies something they don't deserve. It is a nice good-will gesture on our part, a welcoming gift. But instead of being thanked for giving you free money, we are getting called "greedy". That takes a big nut-sack, pal. Very ungrateful. First of all all of this is predicated on the beleif that the new teams are actuall "joining a conference" If that is the case then all of the schools joined a conference that consisted of various schools. Each of those school brought value to the conference. So when they agreed to join there was a certain value they thought they were buying into with the entry fee. That value was based upon the existing teams and revenue streams including Rutgers etc., and the current and potential value of media money. When those teams left they pay exit fees to compensate THE CONFERENCE for the future loss in value their departure causes, not the value of already paid and earned TV revenue. This is revenue above and beyond what is already earned and owed under existing deals. It compensates for future losses not past value. Therefore that money should be paid to the conference to help offset everyone's loss.. Obviously UCF believed they were buying into a conference where the yearly TV revenue would be "x". They bargained for "x". after the deal the value for everyone who is now in the conference is "x-departing school". The money being recieved from exiting schools are liquidated damages for "x-departing school". Thats why they have them in the agreements, because of the harm that exiting the conference does to the media contracts going forward. The only arguement I see the existing schools having is that "hey the big east is dead, this is our money as the remaining members of the Big East". Since there is a new conference everyone starts over fresh. I get that. If that is the case however, then the 100 mil should be used in part to pay back any entry fee the new schools have made to join the Big East. Then everyone should have to pony up some $$ to start the new conference. Probably the best thing to do anyway. Under that scenario then the three teams are entitled to the cash. Not sure everyone would stay in the conference if that were the case.
  20. "But the TV contract would be significantly lower without the Big 3." BWaaaaahaaaaaa..... I like this Oh yes the USF, Uconn and UC market are really driving the negotiations. No, the A12 is basically CUSA+. The deal is only slightly better than CUSA is getting now. The real issue is that all the A12 teams need each other. No one team is going to make or break the conference at this point. The new teams all thought that they were joining a conference with Rutgers, Lousiville etc.. Now they are stuck with a completely different animal. Why should they not be compensated as well? this money belongs to the conference,Everyone got screwed on this deal. Time to be conference equals or nothing at all. Someone had another good suggestion. Allow the 3 teams to have the money, but paid out over 5 years. If they leave to go to another conference in that time period they forfiet those funds. That way they do not bankrupt the conference and then leave with the cash.
  21. UCF's is not inflatable. It's a pre-engineered metal oven. fixed it Solar Oven??? Are they leading in this research area? Jealousy is a terrible thing. ""When" you build something, then you can compare and be critical. Until then you are just being USF green.
  22. Oh my God imagine how terrible it would be if their student section somehow was primarily USF students. Overpowering every chant? Standing while they've sat down and given up? It would kind of look like the Sundome looked earlier this year.
  23. It wouldn't be USF unless the OCS thread included a reference to an "erector set stadium".
