  1. Welcome to TheBullsPen.com's Game 7 South Florida Bulls (3-3, 2-1) vs FAU Owls (2-3, 1-0) October 14, 2023 3:30 PM EST- ESPN2 HOMECOMING Presented by: Tampa General Hospital Raymond James Stadium Tampa, FL Link to prediction contest This will serve as our official in game thread for in game discussions and commentary. Stand alone topics should still be posted in a new thread. The board functions work well on mobile phone, tablet or desktop. The BullsChat chat room is also available. GAME DAY vs. FAU Owls Returning home for the first time in three weeks, USF will seek its first Homecoming win since a 2019 victory over BYU (27-23) and to end a three-game Homecoming skid. The Bulls will face FAU for the fifth time overall and first since the Owls came to Tampa in 2013 and posted a 28-10 in Willie Taggart’s first season leading USF. Taggart would end up leading FAU for three seasons (2020-22) after stops at Oregon and Florida State following his four-season run at USF. For the third-straight week, the game will pit coaches in their first season at AAC programs. FAU head coach Tom Herman joined the Owls this year. He previously led AAC program Houston (2015-16), but did not face USF during that span as it coincided with a two-year break in the series. OWLS X 3: USF will be facing an Owl mascot for the second of three scheduled dates in Raymond James Stadium on the season. The Bulls downed the Rice Owls (42-9) and will take on the Temple Owls on Nov. 11. FAU CONNECTIONS: USF defensive coordinator Todd Orlando spent one season (2022) and defensive tackles coach Kevin Patrick three (2020-22) at FAU under head coach Willie Taggart, who led the USF program from 2013-17. USF linebacker Jamie Pettway played for that FAU defense, playing in 10 games and making 51 tackles, before transferring to USF. Due to Hurricane Ian, USF opened its 2022 AAC season in Boca Raton at FAU Stadium, falling to ECU (48-28) in the first game ever moved off site in program history. HOMECOMING: USF is celebrating Homecoming with events all week including a lip sync battle, step show, cardboard boat race (St. Petersburg campus), concert, Carni-Bull (midway), and the Running The Bulls Parade on the Tampa campus. USF is 14-12 all-time in Homecoming games, but had a five-game win streak snapped in 2020 with a loss to ECU and has not won a Homecoming game since a 27-23 victory over BYU in 2019. USF fell to Tulane, 45-31, in last year’s Homecoming game. SERIES: USF leads, 3-1 IN TAMPA: USF leads, 2-1 IN BOCA RATON: USF leads, 1-0 LAST TIME: FAU won 28-10 in 2013 in Tampa VS. 6. Welcome to TheBullsPen.com's Game 6 South Florida Bulls (3-2, 2-0) vs UAB Blazers (1-4, 0-1) October 7, 2023 4:00 PM EST- ESPN2 Protective Stadium Birmingham, Ala Link to prediction contest This will serve as our official in game thread for in game discussions and commentary. Stand alone topics should still be posted in a new thread. The board functions work well on mobile phone, tablet or desktop. The BullsChat chat room is also available. GAME DAY vs. UAB Blazers Having posted back-to-back 40-plus point scoring games for the first time since September of 2017, the team’s first 2-0 start in conference play since 2018, and back-to-back wins for the first time since 2019, USF will look to win back-to back road games for the first time since wins at UMass and Tulsa in 2018 and back-to-back AAC road victories since consecutive wins at ECU, Tulane and UConn in 2017 when USF returns to UAB for the first time since a 45-20 win between then Conference USA foes in 2004. For the second straight week, the game will pit first-time head coaches. I win would provide the first three-game winning streak for USF since 2018 when the Bulls started 7-0 and the first in AAC games since the 2017 season when USF won four straight and finished 6-2 in the conference. WHAT BROWN CAN DO FOR YOU: Quarterback Byrum Brown turned 19 last Friday and the following day delivered USF’s first road win since 2019 and first-ever win in Annapolis with a 338-yard, three touchdown day at Navy. The redshirt freshman leads the AAC in total offense (309.4 ypg) and points responsible for per game (17.2). Honored by the AAC for the third straight week on Monday (2nd Honor Roll, POW last week), after two AAC games Brown ranks in the conference only statistics: No. 1 in completions (48), yards (773), yards per game (386.5), touchdown passes (5), interceptions (0) and total offense (414 ypg); No. 2 in pass efficiency (205.4), No. 3 in completion percentage going 48-of-63 (76.19%). His 21 TDs responsible for in seven starts (2 in 2022) are the most-ever for a USF QB through seven starts. DEFENSIVE PRESSURE: USF’s new defense under coordinator Todd Orlando has dialed up the pressure as USF ranks No. 9 nationally in TFL (8.2 tpg) and No. 29 in sacks. The Bulls have posted three games with 4 or more sacks, their 14 on the year equal the team’s total in 2022 and are the most for a USF team since 2019. The Bulls gained their second AAC Defensive Player of the Week on the season with Tramel Logan earning the honor this week (joining Daquan Evans in Week 3), after USF did not have a defensive player earn the honor since 2017. SERIES: TIed, 1-1 IN TAMPA: UAB leads, 1-0 IN BIRMINGHAM: USF leads, 1-0 LAST TIME: USF won, 45-20, in 2004 at UAB VS.
