supposedly Sternberg is thinking about it, but I don't see any major name change happening. They've already got that "under construction" campaign with the TB and the ray under it. They'd have to scrap the whole thing if they changed to the tampa bay anglers or something. I think he's just gonna make official what's been unofficial for teh past couple years and get rid of the "devil" in devil rays.

for real. I did not know this. I thought he was going to be the next great qb. I don't know, but it seems like a waste to me. To put such a highly touted recruit in a role like that. A reciever, even a great one, can't have nearly the impact a qb can (especially when he's dropped every ball thrown to him). Maybe Leavitt told him he wasn't going to start at qb ahead of Pat, so Hill requested to be a reciever.

I heard it a couple times in the 3rd level. P.S. Pat Julmiste sucks. A halfway decent quarterback would have led the bulls to victory. Why not put in Carlton Hill? Everyone knows Julmiste can't pass, our recievers won't catch everything, and Hall is the main weapon on this team. Might as well give Hill a shot, he can't be any worse than Julmiste or Denson.

zoomer...sorry to inform you of this fact but college football games, like college basketball games, are driven by college students. Why do you think students get discounted and free tickets. And as far as this "class" is concerned, throw it out the window when the pregame clock starts counting down. I hate when people bring that up, like that oracle columnist when the students chanted "wifebeater" at the basketball game. And there is nothing classless about "over rated", it may be stupid but it's not classless. Students are supposed to be rude, loud, and obnoxious, that's why they have thier own section. How about this chant, "Good showing! Good showing!" And we could all use english accents to give it that little bit of extra class!

you must have been sitting at the very right of the student section. This is the way the student section works. There's the crazy right side that stands and cheers the whole game. Then theres the middle, a few less people standing. Then the section and a half before the corner section, everybody sits down and leaves early. Then the left corner section (my section, (I'm the one in the last row yelling ""Insert opponent school here" is not a real school!"), where pockets of people stand, and the rest sit down.

does anyone know who is announcing the game? I turned it on midway through the first quarter and the play-by-play guy sounds a lot like todd kalas.

I gotta agree with Duemig here. While I wouldn't go as far as calling the recievers "chicken pu$$ies", they did drop some very catchable balls. But it was no different than last season. So either the recievers are "chicken pu$$ies" and are scared of every defense, or they simply can't catch most balls thrown they're way. (I'm sure having Julmiste as the QB and never knowing if the ball is going to be short, long, low, behind, in front, perfect, high, or rifled in at 100 mph doesn't help either.) On a side note, I heard a commercial on the radio today advertising basically, come see FAMU's band vs. USF's band. While it's no question who would win that battle, the commercial reminded me of the many Rays commercials I despise, "Come see A-Rod and the New York Yankees take on the Rays", "Don't miss Barry Bonds and the San Fransisco Giants when they vist Tropicana Field". Hopefully USF won't have to stoop to that level. Imagine it, "Come see Urban Meyer coach his Gators at Raymond James, Don't miss it!" Anyway, GO BULLS!!! I can't wait to see FAMU's band!

Vince Naimoli obviously told Lou some things that convinced him to come here. And it is obvious that he lied. Pinella came here to be home, near his dad, and because he thought he could turn this team around and cement his place as a top manager in the game. Now that his dad has passed and there is no hope of turning this team around as long as Naimoli is in charge, he wants out. But how bout that 474 foot walk off shot by Jonny Gomes!!!!!! At least there's one player on the team that hasn't given up.

actually nomo's replacement, orvella a AA pitcher, gave up 1 run in 2 1/3 innings.  the guy after him, nunez a AAA pitcher, started the rally.  then theres harper who shouldn't even be in the majors.  Harper hasn't had one good outing all season! Wow, I just heard on the radio that if the rays had kept 80% of the leads they had, they'd be in first place in the AL East. They have had the lead after 5 innings in 43 or so games!!!!! The Orioles are in first place with freaking 42 wins!!!!! If they had just 1 proven ace starter and some quality bullpen they would be unstoppable.

exactly, the team cares about winning. and if there is any punk on the team that doesn't and is only here to get ABs, cough cough alex sanchez, they should be gone. The ownership is what could care less. The rays could be the worst run franchise in sports right now. They do this family fun coupon that gives away a hotdog, soda, and crackerjacks every sunday. and the past three sunday's I've gone they've run out of hot dogs! Today they also ran out of cracker jacks! And were running out of ice and the ice machine was broken! IT'S FREAKING RIDICULOUS! And, as most everyone knows, there is plenty of other stories of poor fan relations out there. It just seems to get worse and worse every year.

total agreement there shiznitz, but they should keep Gomes too.  Watching these most recent road trip games on tv has been one of the most painful things I've ever done.  Especially tonights game (though, somehow, even after having a 5 run lead in the seventh I knew they'd blow it). Knowing the rays orginization track record though, I have a feeling how the trades are going to go.  Every other team in MLB will be trading and the rays will sit back and do nothing (maybe trade Upton or some other guy they brought up too early to ruin his confidence), win 50-some games and wait until the offseason to pick up some veteran on his last legs for cheap. Near the top of the league in most every hitting category, and dead last in pitching.  They need more than new pitchers, they need a new pitching coach now!  When not one pitcher on the team can throw strikes consistently and two are insane, something needs to change.  I'm even beginning to think Lou needs to go, and some young firey guy needs to be brought in who won't put up with this losing mindset. GO RAYS!  STRAIGHT TO 53 WINS!!!

It's useless. The team is not getting any better. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. Nobody cares anymore, the fans don't care, the players don't care, Lou doesn't care, the owner certainly doesn't care. Lou should leave the pitchers in to take thier lumps instead of taking them out in the 5th or 6th inning every game, which causes them to quit pitching and look to the bullpen after the 5th inning. All they need is one more bat to score one more run a game, but they are not going to get it.
