  1. Did you have to send that @#$%^@ storm up here (SE Virginia) to screw up my weekend?  After I scored the company's 5th row tickets to the Tides (AAA baseball).

We needed the rain as my grass was taking on the color and consistency of corn flakes, but a TS/Hurricane? Please keep those things down there.

My forcast is that all this years storms are to go to the Mid Atlantic State.   Why should we get all the joy.  :)

  2. Football teams can be a lot like a hurricane.  When we played Louisville things came together and we were like a cat 3 or 4.

Hurricanes are fluke storms.  Cat 3 and 4 storms happen a couple times a year.  Not the entire hurricane season.

Um that Cat 1 Storm that hit Miami later became the storm of the century that wrecked havoc on the Gulf coast...   The big bad storm everyone was so worried about this week is now a big thunderstorm, but it still could end up causing great damage in the Carolinas.   A football team can have the same consistency and last year that was our team.  When we played Louisville we were that good unfortunately later we were not.

I thought you guys would like the hurricane analogy since you are so good at sandbagging.   ;)

  3. 1. McNeese State  While McNeese State finished the 2005 season with a 5-4 record, the Cowboys' returning roster and easier-than-usual schedule make them a solid pick to win the SLC title. McNeese has two Division I-A opponents on its schedule, but South Florida and Toledo are munchkins compared to the I-A opposition other SLC teams have scheduled. Not only will the Cowboys  the highest-ranked SLC team at No. 12 in the Sports Network Preseason Top 25  have a shot at scoring upsets against these I-A foes, it's highly unlikely these opponents will run up an embarrassing score the way Texas will against Sam Houston State and Texas Tech against Southeastern Louisiana. Schedule aside, the Cowboys have 53 returning lettermen, with the majority being experienced skill position players. That's huge when you consider the toll injuries can take on a team

    Fifty-three returning Letterman....    :o

  4. We could be BE champs at 11-1 and that would be worthy of a BCS bowl.   Not likely to happen and that does not get us close to the championship game, but it is possible.   That is why they play the games.   No one knows what is going to happen and that funny looking ball can do some strange bounces.

Overall at this point I feel better about this team than last years.   It will be nice if that is still true at the end of the season.

  5. The good is that this program has really gave the university the exposure that it needed. You cant put a price on the exposure for our school due to having a up and coming football program. To have highlights on ESPN after we beat some top 25 teams just does wonders.

The bad is that there are many fans that get down on our program when things are not going well. Fans need to realise how fast we have come up in just about 10 years. Sure there are some bumps on the way, but I have faith in this program. We need to stop all this trashing on some of our players because these are students that are trying their best. It is really an honor to have these players represent our university. Lets never trash these kids because we are all human.

    GO BULLS!!!

For some reason we have always had a significant group of students and alum eager to trash the University.   Hopefully, this is something that we will out grow with time.

  6. The Ville's passing attack is easier to shut down then West Virginia's ground game.  One of our most likely weaknesses will be at DT.  Without depth on the d-line the pounding from West Virginia will be tough.

Everything is going to go back to how good our offense can be this year.  If they can put up points we have a chance with the Errs.   For Louisville the offense is not as important.   If our defense can  shut down the passing attack the Cards will self destruct.

We have alot of time until we play these teams.   If we can get to them healthy and the offense jells, learning from the early games, we could be a big surprise for these guys.

That said I don't think we have any sure wins.   Every game is up for grabs and we are likely to blow one that leaves us shaking our heads.

  7. before we put a mature team on the field.  It seems like the past few years we have remained a young team.   We must have a tremendous turnover in players, but I would guess it is due to the jump to 1A followed by the jump to CUSA and the junp to the Big East with BCS status.

Are we at a peak now and it is only a short time until our team is loaded with upper classmen or do we still face several years in which our talent level keeps getting higher as the team grows in prominence?

  8. It all depends on the time span.   With only ten years of football and we are in a BCS conference with a winning record.  Who would have thought...

The last few years with our offensive woes following on the heals on the great success we had with MB.

    Who would have thought...

With any luck we are on the verge of our next overachieving phase!

But in any case we have little to complain about.   We have come a long way and are rich with possibilities.   Just that we have a team at all is huge.

IT IS GREAT TO BE A USF BULL.
