  1. It would be great to have him as a Bull, but hopefully he gets what he wants.   The money could still be pretty nice and I'm sure he would still be a Bull at heart.   One of my HS buddies played in the minors.   He was a pitcher in the Giants organization and later developed problems with his arm, but made some decent money and had a great experiance for several years.  The signing bonus was only enough to get a nice car, but that ain't all bad.

Best wishes R.J. no mater what decision you make.

  2. My guess is that playing U Conn at the end of the season and giving our team time to jell outweighs playing in the cold.   If the team grows during the season like I expect we will be pretty solid at the end of the year.

Last year the team just seemed to give up about half way through the season.   It would be nice to see more maturity this year and I think we will.    Not expecting much middle ground I see us being either pretty good or a repeat of the last couple years which have been pretty bad.

  3. Nothing new here... At least they are talking about the game.  Before our first Pitt game they didn't talk down about us.   They ignored us.   The buzz on the Pitt board was all about Penn State's recent difficulties.   There was no thought of USF until after the game.

Right now everyone sees us as a cupcake.   Until we get back to winning they will continue to view us as an easy win.

We could be a huge surprise with some semi decent QB play and a little of our D from '01.   We have a great running back.   With any passing attack at all our offense does a 180, but my gut tells me we are still a year away.   Too bad the convergence of our stud QB's and Hall isn't over a little longer time frame.

This year I will be happy with a season that gets over five hundred.   This should be very doable since we have one or two cupcakes of our own.

  4. Spending $29 million on the Sun Dome isn't exactly chump change...   This is great news.   A lot can be done with the Sun Dome using that kind of money.   Not changing the operating budget is not that big of a deal at this point.   We have and are making major strides in upgrading facilities.   That is right where the focus belongs.   The operating budget will also increase with time.

  5. It looked like a pretty good crowd to me.   While I had anticipated low attendance due to the lack of coverage this spring, I was surprised to see at least three or four thousand people at the game.   After the half the crowd seemed to thin pretty fast, but there was a nice crowd at kick off.   With these comments about attendance I wonder if this guy was even there.   In any case, it is no big deal, it is after all a spring game.   It is a chance to see some of the players, but only a fool would expect much more than a glorified scrimage.    Unless you are a die hard the spring game is hardly must see and gives the casual fan little indication of how well the team is doing.

  6. Hell with the neighbors.  Don't buy a house next door to a growing University.  I bet (imo only) there are more students driving by every day than there will be on those 5 or 6 saturdays per year.

You are right.   These people have nothing to complain about.   When it was built, UCF could not have been built in a much more remote area.   If you decide to move out to where the University is then you have decided to be close to everything the University produces like traffic.   If you do not want to put up with that stuff you should make a different decision.   It is not reasonable for the University to retard its development in an effort to appease people that have chosen to put themselves in the proximity of the University.

  7. Some of the things I did at 18 were reprehensible compared to the way I do things now (but that was part of the growing up process).

Awe gee Eddie, you were always so polite to Mrs. Clever it is hard to believe you could be reprehensible.   A full roster would certainly be a thing of beauty after the last couple seasons.

  8. to see us as the bottom feeders of the Big East in football and basketball next year.   How do you guys rank us for conference play next year?   What kind of chance do you feel we have of bowling next year?   Do we get to make the trip to MSG?

My ranking for football would be about forth with a fifty-fifty shot at going to a bowl.   Basketball will be tough.   It would be nice to know who will be playing on our team.   Given what I know right now, my guess is that we have about a thirty percent chance of making it to MSG.   Hard to belive we will be above five hundred in basketball, so an NIT bid seems unlikely and the NCAA's look like the impossible dream.

  9. My guess is that our next NIT trip will be for more than One and Done.   To have the required record in the Big East is much different than getting an invite as a member of CUSA.   It is similar to UCF going to the dance this year vs. a CUSA team making it.   Same goal, but a much different road.

The only problem is our next NIT invite may be some time off.   Our goal right now should be to make it to MSG at the end of the season.   That would put us ahead of four Big East teams.

  10. A quick fix has a lot of appeal, but PJ could still be the best quarterback we have when the season starts next year.   He is the only experienced quarterback we have right now and while he has faults, he has always been a worker and I would expect some improvement.   Someone else may be the starter, but if CJL feels he is the man...

As for whom we can or can not beat.   There is no one on our schedule that is not beatable.   As an example, Miami is extremely deep and should be heavily favored, but they have had a tendency to play down to the level of the team they are playing.   Miami has been in a few tight games with the less than stellar.

Lastly, we are not all at the same level of sports knowledge and I enjoy reading what many of you who know far more than me have to say, but ESPN is not exactly hungry for any of our analysis.   Let’s restrain ourselves from the name calling or at least save it for the low life fans of other schools.   ;D

  11. This run should help bring talent in.   We have a coach that can take a team short of players and beat top twenty-five teams at the end of the season when everything is on the line.  We are going into the top basketball conference in the country and our campus is in a great city in Florida where most of the coutry would love to live.

Come here, we can help you get better, be a winner on a national stage and live large!

  12. For football we have a shot at being strong out of the gate against teams that while not world beaters are much stronger than our token AA's.   If the team takes care of business early the attendance should be great and we should have a crowd for A&M and UCF, regardless.

For basketball the Big East does not have any USM's or UAB's.   It would not seem likely that we do not draw better than the past couple years considering every conference game will be a team that is well known.

Next question:  How much do our tickets go up next year?    ;)

  13. Lord Vader how are you handling your light saber minus two hands.   Maybe it is time to escape the dark side before it is too late.   That invite to the tournament is closer every day and the crash of the death star is just a matter of time.  Besides the Jedi master has given young Leather the word.  Go with the force young Leather, "be the Beast."

  14. If Severino were at all halfway decent we would have seen him this year.

CJL does not keep people around without a reason.   I have not seen Kranky have you.   CJL must see something in him or he would be gone and CJL would not be bringing him up in public.   No one kicks a dead horse unless they think it might still have some life.
