  1. Hill was still pretty green as a QB at USF.   He had the talent here, but he needed some playing time to get to the D1 level.   We might be singing his praises if he had been able to stay.   It sure would be nice to still have both Carlton and Matt.   There would be a lot of uses for Carlton even if he wasn't the starting QB.    At this point I am glad he is having success at Pearl and wish him the best wherever he ends up at next.

  2. There have been similar problems in Tampa for decades.   This is nothing new.    Cops are human and they make mistakes and sometimes some Cops are a little heavy handed.   I saw people get clubbed for getting to close to the wall at the old Tampa Stadium when LeRoy was playing.

RJS is owned by the community, so yes it is our stadium.  The Glazers are just tenants in our stadium.

  3. RU is in the upper level for traveling fans.   Pitt, WV and the Ville all travel pretty well.  UConn is having a down year.  They have traveled better in the past.   We played them a couple times before having any Big East connection.   There were also a lot of UConn fans that were not in the visitors section.

  4. If UCF falls too much they will just be replaced by FIU or FAU.   They are a Florida team and I would like them to play well and represent us well to the rest of the nation.

At this point people without a connection to one of the schools have a hard time telling us apart.  If they are too ugly that hurts us.

We need to continue to get better.   UCF is in the rearview mirror.   As long as we keep getting better their success only means fewer Florida players will be available for our out of state rivals.    8-)

  5. WE ARE ALL MATT GROTHE.

If this kid were in the 6' 3" to 6' 5" category they would be touting him as the next coming of _____ (fill in the blank).  The most heart attacking player in USF's short history.  Potential is out of this world.

Aw come on everyone knows he is 6'8" 420, runs the forty in 3.2 and can complete a pass from endzone to endzone on his knees.

  6. 13-15 since 2004

mikeg alot of what you say is true but other likemyself are tired of the same mistakes, the same drops and the same penalties

we want to win and compete

our offensive scheme is embarassing.we cant run from it

why did rutgers improve from last year and not usf

our defense is a joke.we cant tackle and our corners cant play press coverage.we give way too much cushions

we have a field goal kicker that cant make a field goal

we have receivers that cant catch

    and runners that cant run

    and tacklers that cant tackle

we have a personal foul penaly on the first play

    we lost.

for the second game on a row our coaches were out coached second half by opposing staff

alot of usf fans are thirlled to be playign regardless of result

my philosophy is if you arent competing for a conference championship why bother

in cusa and be usf was never a player for conference championship

We have improved since last year when we couldn't complete a pass to save our lives, but spent the whole season riding the back of our stud running back.   Last year we had a weak QB and this year we have one other teams would like to trade for.   Our receivers have been making some amazing catches this year and we never seem to be totally out of a game.   Unfortunately, while our passing game is 180 degrees from last year the rushing attack has vanished.   Not much you can do to prevent losing your top two running backs.  (Three if Chad Simson is included)   There also is hope this team, with the returning players, will be much stronger in the second half of the season.

The deal is that in college football you never have the same team year to year.   You always get stronger somewhere or weaker somewhere else.  The good news is we have a young team and the chance to grow stronger with some of the same players for a couple years.   As a team new to the BCS level I expect our depth to continue to get better over the next few seasons, but it is not realistic to expect us to become Big East Champs yet.   We just went toe to toe and lost a heartbreaker to a top twenty-five team.   That is pretty heady stuff for a ten year old program.  Now we just need to beat UConn, so I'm in a good mood during my drive to UNC.

  7. These guys are young players and we have been spoiled by a history of being very deep in the kicking positions.   When you force a guy that is more of a kickoff specialist than a punter to kick out of the back of the end zone you are asking for trouble.   There were a lot of miscues that put us in that position and the poor punter was left in the cumulative position of attempting to bail us out.

We gave RU great field position much of the night, but it was the other miscues and failure to move the ball offensively that were the primary cause not the kicking game.

  8. No team. Sucks. Got a team. Awesome. Division II. Cool. Division I. Better. C-USA. Okay. Big East. Better. Great strides.

USF never played as a division II team.   You have us confused with the gnats.  USF started as a 1AA team.

Being 6'5" is great, but hopefully you never meet MikeG because having all of your teeth is rather nice too.   Although, I guess you can still drink beer without teeth.   Does your girlfriend go for the distressed look?

Worse comes to worse there are always implants.   Not as good as natural teeth, but better than a bridge or dentures.
