NOw the bad news their student section looks a lot better than ours.

Yep... ASU is AAA LA IMO. Tempe/Scottsdale is a single man's heaven - especially if you have a little bit of coin in your pocket.

ASU grooms them girls for four years and guys like #smazza bring them to the big leagues in Los Angeles for some very meaningful relationships until they turn 30 (and then he trades them in for another 22-year old fresh out of Tempe/Scottsdale).

  2. Looks great for the future athletes. Where will the tailgating happen? Where are the parking facilities? Trying to look at this big picture wise.

Facilities look tremendous... but how far will an 80-year old Brad Meyer have to walk to get to a football game after consuming lots of alcohol? How many co-eds will he run into on his way to the stadium? We need to quantify these items for the people throwing money to the university.

The Commaders are in need of a rb

Where is Al Sharpton when you need him protesting this shooting of an innocent man? Oh wait, doesn't fit the narrative.

In reality, if I was a family member for the Alabama RB that got shot out of the blue the other night, I would make it my personal mission to mow down every one of those thugs that associate with the shooters involved in the car jacking the other day. If Mayor Bowser won't make the DC streets safer (and it wasn't even night time), I would take matters into my own hands. Terrible that a young man minding his own business can't even get food for dinner in a big city without taking a bullet(s).

  4. You'll be hard pressed to see a 1,000 yard receiver at USF with our schemes and game speed. A receiver with that type of prowess is going to end up in a pro-style offense at a P5 school as they are typically five star recruits (he'll be that 6'4" possession receiver). It would be awesome to have someone with that skill level play at USF, we just haven't had it. Imagine Scott McCready hands with a Huey Whittaker body and DeAndrew Rubin route running. We've had some recent guys with some very good hands... however finding that total package would put that receiver in the Biletnikoff Award conversation immediately.

  5. My two cents...

If BYU is as good as the write up on page 1 of this thread, it should be another terrible home opener for us. However my gut says we're not as bad as we have been and they're not as overpowering as they were last year. We will finally score a TD or two in a home opener (and I won't be there to see it - ugh!). Oddsmakers are guessing at best... so I'll flip their script and will say BYU will probably walk away with a three TD victory against us. GB can only carry a team so far with as many holes as we have demonstrated. Hoping for the best, however I believe Scott Frost has a better chance of turning around Nebraska this season and getting them to 10 wins than us getting things turned around and getting to six wins. Hoping I'm wrong - but my old age has made me more prudent.

I figured you were getting more seats to sell for profit next year with Bama coming to town.

I don't sell my seats honestly. Too much hassle. I'd rather give them away to USF people. I have a couple guys working for me in Lakeland now. Hopefully they'll want to go to a few games as I'm good for one a season - maybe two if my wife extends me certain liberties (with four kids, nothing is guaranteed).

Bohannan has the edge because a 4th year junior > true sophomore nearly every time.

McClain completed 55% of his passes... not great, but not terrible for an 18 year old kid.  He relied on his athleticism more than he should (because that is how he did so well in high school)... and you're comparing the other 3 QBs at their best (because that is what you remember) with McClain at his worst (because that is what you saw).  You're unable to project what his talent can do.  With time and study this year, McClain has the potential to be the best QB USF has ever had.

USF's offensive coordinator did not set up McClain to succeed.  Just watch the end of the UCF game.  UCF brought pressure before the time out -- but the OL and RB could not give McClain ANY time to make a decision... McClain made two good runs when the WRs aren't open (good decisions)... and then the play call is a moving pocket (awful) and Donnovan Jennings gets beat by the DL too quickly and no one was open.  Yes, he should have thrown it away -- but remember, he's a freshman.  As a senior, I bet he throws that away.

**** that game and that ******** ending.

Any game that no one wants let me know, I will try to bring my polk county friends. It is a hard sell even for free tickets these days to get people to come/

Text me your information when you have a free minute. My number is 210-906-0537.

  9. Thanks for posting the link Brad. I just picked up two season tickets in the end zone just now (it's been awhile). Hoping to make at least two home games this year, however if not, I'll pass the tickets to some of my colleagues in Lakeland working for me at our warehouse there. My seats will be filled.

  10. Tell me who are starting QB is? Is it Timmy? Is it a transfer having to learn a new offense? The transfer hasn't even been declared the starting QB. I played sparingly at this level. However I remember it being extremely difficult to adjust from one system to another system over the course of a few months. We have NO proven QB. Baylor had a proven QB. However we are NOT Baylor presently. We're going to take our lumps. How soon we forget about all of the transfers that never materialized over the years... especially with such a short turnaround.

  11. I voted pessimistic.

We've been placing band aids on bullets holes these last four years. We've been hiring different experienced coaches hoping they are the magic fix, however either we lack the talent or intelligence to implement their game plans. We have no proven QB. Without a proven QB, you don't win playing college football. We'll win more than one game this season, however expecting to be competitive against non-AAC competition is suspect at best. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised attending a game or two, however I'm being realistic about the state of the program.

Was at the last Coaches' Caravan event in Fort Lauderdale and met Coach Scott for first time. Very impressed with his presentation. I will keep any player/personnel information heard out of this thread. I only want to mention new information on these two facilities that I have not heard before even from others that attended these previous events. Making this a separate topic from the other two OCS and IPF threads only because of the last bullet item below on the OCS (I was blown away thinking of the possibilities that we could come up with that would garner national attention at every game).

    Indoor Performance Facility

    - No completion date set. Due to weather and most likely due to material issues, Coach Scott was told it could be some time in the Fall (this shocked me as I thought a mid August date would be reasonable).

    - He sees the IPF being used by not only Football and the rest of the sports teams but he expects students and alumni to have many events in there as well. Need to have a large TV screen bigger than some of the renderings show for watch parties.

    - He showed renderings of the IPF on the inside that I have not seen before which after seeing them only supports the ranking I have below. The new ones showed apparently go with this one as the facility is being built on the outside exactly to this: https://twitter.com/USFFootball/status/1436018328842080256/photo/1

    - When finished, considers it to be one of the nicest in the country. (from a previous thread, I ranked the State IPFs as the following, added other 2 NFL teams)

    1. USF - just a clean design inside and out, entryway atrium and observation deck nobody else has, all white interior with flush insulation on ceiling
    2. Buccaneers - like the ground windows but is more barn like than USF
    3. Dolphins - everything exposed on the inside like there was never thought of adding insulation
    4. UF - very similar to USF but exterior is lacking and they put too many garage door openings to the grass fields
    5. FSU - goodness gracious they tried too hard to match the brick and look of Doak Campbell (which is just an erector set with a nice brick facade) and again way too many door openings.
    6. UM - Couldn't make it even a 100 yds as they have a street in the way on the one end. Left the interior structure dark and factory looking
    7. Jaguars - OMG, it is like a circus tent....it might be worse than Cs but considering both are crap, new crap is better than old crap
    8. University of Chainlink Fence - **** a doodle dooo, Not always best to be first in the state with the IPF that should be storing hay bales and not practicing football at.

    On Campus Stadium

    - Was told by finance/construction folks that getting the stadium done in 2026 instead of 2027 could be a savings in material costs of up to $15 million.

    - With the new football facility and locker rooms sitting between the stadium and the IPF, they would be able to go 100 feet to the North and be in the stadium or 100 feet to the South and be in the IPF. Said no other school in the country would have this convenience.

    - Would assume that the new football facility would then have the home locker room for the stadium and that would open space under the stadium for something else (unless it is built under the South endzone bleachers).

    - Has many people in community already offering to buy suites when available.

And here is the kicker that you folks need to run with and provide ideas and illustrations (we got to get someone with architectural / landscaping design background to draw some ideas up)

    - He envisions an initial U shape design with the North end open and some type of water features there for the students like at least a pool area. Future expansion would then close this area up but it may be too popular by then. Can you imagine, Jacksonville can have their crappy little pool but we could put a big lagoon style pool with beach area and palm trees. Could have raffles for 100 sober students to use each game with one game being for club members/alumni etc. You wanted incentives for rental income on the side during the offseason...there you go. Could have sponsorship by Adventure Island and even have it done by the Lucas Lagoons and get a national tv shot of it being built. You want to get national interest in both local sellouts and high tv ratings, put a beach and lagoon pool 30 yards behind the North end zone. Short of going Savannah Bananas with promotional crap, this and some AAC championships will get us in the correct conference within 5 years.

Show us your endzone ideas and possible sponsors (ie. Lucas Lagoons, Margaritaville, Adventure Island, Hooters, Publix, Ron Jons.....)

I'd be curious to see if they can really save $15M finishing a year early. Construction costs are moving in the opposite direction finally. I would believe slow rolling the stadium build out would be cheaper than rushing into it presently. Just my two cents.

I just don't understand why this is happening now. Who is going to show up to watch us play rice or Charlotte in this stadium? This should have happened 15 years ago but since it didn't there's no point chasing sunk costs. I wish we'd just shut down the program altogether and focus on other things.

Imagine if UCF took this line of thinking years ago. IMO, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Agreed Dave. Smazza and I have way different political leanings, however when we see each other every five or so years, it's just like yesterday. Family first... politics second. It is fun to poke the bear... and you get really good at it spending so much time at sea on a submarine.
