I tuned into the baseball game and we were up. A few minutes later we were down by 3 runs.

Turned it off. Tired of the meltdowns. Reminds me of the Jeff Scott Era. It's not that we are losing. Its that we get waxed by last place teams and make them look like a top ten team.

Don’t worry is a midweek game. Oh sorry is not

Dont worry is only game 1. Oh sorry is not

Dont worry it was vs a good team? No it wasn’t

Dont worry we still have a winning conference record. Oh sorry we dont

Dont worry we are still in top of conference. Oh no we are not

Dont worry we still have a winning record. For how long.

Im so tired of the old tired excuses. He is a nice guy but not the right guy for the job.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, this team is going nowhere. They’ve had a few nice moments, but no consistency. But we’re not alone - Miami is struggling, Florida is struggling. Maybe next season.

Unless changes happens, we will be reciting same line next season.

  3. It will be interesting to see what ends of happening at Colorado. I think with Sanders for most is either they love him and they blame failures on players or they hate him and blame it on him. I think the truth is in between, there were personnel issues but I also think coaching was also an issue. Time will tell. In any case I’m hoping our coaches ca; build any players that choose to come here.

  4. I think eventually FSU/ Clemson will leave with some type of exit agreement.

The question becomes does the ACC add anyone to replace them and would Miami object to USF being added.

I think what we have been hearing lately, is most likely scenario. ACC needs to get ESPN to extend tv rights to 2036. Adding schools that might take less in payout would help add revenue for those remaining

Not true at all. The 99 year membership portion was added back in 2012, with both Texas and Oklahoma signing onto it.

    https://www.si.com/college/2023/02/03/big-12-sec-texas-longhorns-oklahoma-sooners-split-explainer

"There are two key issues in any early exit from Texas and Oklahoma:

The grant of rights/TV contract: The two schools are contractually bound to the league through the end of the 2024–25 academic year via what is termed a grant of rights, which coincides with the league’s television deal with ESPN and Fox.

The 99-year agreement: In 2012, the Big 12 schools entered into a 99-year agreement to remain together, a deal that comes with an exit fee of two years’ worth of gross revenue, or about $80 million each."

All this to say, the 99 year membership clause isn't a scary insurmountable obstacle to leaving and Utah not having it isn't some smoking gun.

Well interesting that your link says that the 99 year agreement meant an exit fee of two years revenue or $80 million. We do not know what the new 99 year agreement exit fee agreement but assuming is the same then that’s about similar 80-90 million exit fee.

The fact that this is NOT written in Utah’s agreement means they aren’t bound by it.

Regardless the reality is that the Big12 and ACC revenues are close enough that it really makes little sense for one going to the other.

WV fits the ACC geographically but that’s about it. Academically they do not and if you look as who the ACC has added that means something. Cal, Stanfordcand SMU are certainly better academically than WV.

Would a Big12 team under that 99 year deal pay 80 million to move to ACC? Doubt it.

It isn't what we expected with the hype, but it will be our stadiun on campus. Judy should have put her time and effort into building an OCS instead of railroading the magic Leavitt created. Judy decisions only put USF football back about 20 years in a the CUSA 2.0 known as the AAC. The good news is we finally have leadership on campus that prioritizes athletics and a coach that is aggressive that can coach players up. Bad news we won't have a stadium until 2027 and are stuck in the AAC for the unforseeable future. All we can do is beat the teams on the schedule and make sure we bring our A games to whoop dat ass when we play power  conference teams. I would love to see one or two upsets this year against Bama and the U.

I think the Miami game will be huge on where the season goes. A win and we are in playoff conversation. A loss and that becomes less likely even if we win AAC.

    1. It will be at home and it could be close to a sell out

    2. Very likely that it is televised as part of AAC TV contract

    3. ACC will be watching

The 99 year membership thing causes a lot of confusion but it's different from the GOR. All teams including Utah will have signed the same GOR that runs through the 2030-31 athletic season. The membership length is just some legalese to put a length instead of infinite period of time for conference membership. Note that Oklahoma and Texas also had signed onto the same 99 year membership clause but it was the GOR that was the sticking point that resulted in them leaving only 1 year before the end of the GOR.

It's not really a barrier but any teams wanting to leave the Big 12 will have to wait until 2031, negotiate to shave a little bit off of that like OU/UT, or fight in court like FSU and Clemson.

Not entirely correct. Oklahoma and Texas never signed that 99 year membership. That was done with the new contract by the remaining members and the newcomers to stabilize the league and promising they weren’t going to leave. Utah got a special deal where they didn’t sign to that. How would that affect anyone outside of Utah trying to leave remains to be seen.

    My guess would be WVU

Don’t think WV will be it.

First from what I heard ALL the B12 schools signed off on a long term GOR. I believe Utah was the only one that went in with a special note that said they didn’t give up those rights.

If you look at ACC after FSU/ Clemson leaves, is a more academic conference outside off Louisville, so I’m thinking If they keep that ESPN contract deal, Utah is the most likely to bail out.

I don't like these twitter personalities anymore than the next guy, but this sounds more insider than speculative, so I'll share. Read thread -

    Couple of thoughts:

    1. ESPN has always been the lynchpin here, not the ACC nor FSU/Clemson/whoevertheflavoroftheweekiswhoisgoingtoleavetheACC

    2. Hard to see a situation where ESPN will threaten the existence of the ACC if they do not "allow FSU/Clemson" to leave by settlement. That's like saying they value those two properties more than the other soon to be 15.5 in the ACC. That seems like a stretch.

    3. I do think ESPN will want to preserve FSU/Clem by moving them to SEC over letting the B1G poach them, so this much makes sense.

    4. ESPN cannot just move properties to the B12, as those TV interests are split with FOX. They will need FOX to also approve pro-rata, which is very possible, but ESPN does not control that decision itself. It's also possible that this is a long-term play anyways, especially since ESPN/FOX have been working on their JV streaming platform.

    5. Also think ESPN will not renegotiate the ACC contract to a lower contracted rate for 2027. Seems a bit greedy to say we have to move these properties, and you're going to accept the terms, and we're going to pay you less. Then again, they hold the strings. The ACC contract was already largely considered undervalued, so it would be interesting to see if there is a renegotiation what it will come out to be.

    6. Again, the message is the ACC does not have the grounds and will implode. This IS B12 rhetoric and is being applied to these posts to an extent.

    7. And last but not least - FSU going to the SEC has been and will always be in USF's best interest. So this is good news, if it can be considered news at all.

Pretty much what I have been saying all along. The ACC will probably get ESPN to guarantee contract at full value for all current schools until 2036. FSU/Clemson would pay some exit fee and with this type of deal it keeps BigTen from taking anyone as ACC retains tv rights.

This is best deal for ACC to not lose more schools.

Now the next question is do they expand. I would say they do and new schools will not get full amount and that’s extra money those remaining will get.

It was all talk about the acc letting fsu and Clemson walk only to the sec so that espn picks up the acc 2027 deal. Basically blackmailing them into taking it. Espn is trying everything possible for fsu and Clemson to not go to the big 12. If the acc keeps on putting a fight they will not pick up the 2027 acc deal and let them die like the pac 12

You mean BigTen. No ACC team is leaving for B12

The good news is we only struck out once looking in the 9th with runners on base. The other time we did it was without any runners on base.

CBM's last season. Should we start a head coach watch thread? Bet there are some great up and comers ala CAG/CAAR on the diamond. Preferably ties to Florida for recruiting.

To protect my health,I have decided to not follow USF baseball any longer, until we have a new HC.

I was thinking that last night. Until this year we were lucky to have one guy that was a decent shooter (not just a 3 point shooter)  Now we have 5 guys that I feel comfortable shooting the ball.  I'm a big fan of Walker and he can shoot the ball decent

I believe even last year or the one before we were among the worst three point shooting team in nation
