It seems he was able to get better athletes at La Tech without the same strict academic standards.

Skip seemed to do better at lower tier G5, formerly known as non-BCS in his USF days, schools.  Put him in an upper tier G5 or P5 school and he failed.  He also thought USF should run a pro set offense instead of sticking with the spread offense which was working at USF.  Why do these coaches think that USF can recruit big power offensive guys when Florida high schools are full of quick smaller guys?

They are seniors so that should be pretty easy for them at this point. Blame would be on either the coaching or the players.

I honestly have not followed most of the players on this team this year, but if they are seniors then they are leftovers from Strong.  I just hope they have underclassmen who are able to step up next season or it will be the same as this year - the QB running for his life and/or the RB rarely getting a hole to run through.

  3. So just for fun I went through the football team history on the USF website.  There were some lean years at the QB position between Blackwell and Grothe.  I remember those games.  Just as we joined CUSA we did not have a solid QB.

I am not sure how this relates to today's situation, but he is a true freshman with a really weak offensive line.  He was getting no protection out there.  I mean UCF (as well as other teams this season) ran obvious defensive plays to get at McClain as well as into his head.   FFS they need to teach these kids how to block and read defenses.  The QB cannot be the only play maker out there if you want to win games.

I think you mean we need CJL back. If that is what you are saying, I am ready to buy season tickets until the day I die. This university seems to care more about being lame than winning. He slapped a player?? THEY HIT EACH OTHER ALL DAY. Wake up and get some spunk back. This isn't a soft city, and we don't deserve this SOFT program. I just want passion. BRING BACK JIM.

Do you not know why he was fired?  He lied to the administration about it and he tried to cover up the investigation by trying to coerce players into changing their stories.  If this lead to a criminal investigation CJL would have been wearing an orange outfit and "shower sliders" at Falkenburg Road Jail, and they would not allow him to participate in pit bull rehabilitation training at the Pet Resource Center next door.

It’s amazing that people find it laughable that the person with the worst and second worst seasons in USF history could conceivably be on the hot seat and that people actually think the people that think we should have even the smallest sliver of expectations are the unreasonable ones. So I’m going to spell it out for you with pictures so even the most dense among us can try to follow along. The issue is not that we are a joke of a failing athletic department because that’s  what you should expect from someone that looks like this. And since he is the vacuous ad that he is he is worried strictly about optics and saying and doing the “right” thing which is way more important than actually winning a game.D2RJvofO_400x400.jpg.26e29a042ad6ce279ad288189ae21f96.jpg

and if there is anything a person like this would care about it’s that the optics of firing someone that looks like this for failure

while hiring someone that looks like this and fails at an exponential rate more than anyone has ever dreamed of

while not caring about failure any more is a bad look that isn’t going to look good on his cv or be easily explained in his circles or in other interviews. Jeff Scott is a horrible mistake that is going to cost VP Mike Failure quite dearly in life, which is why every single hot seat indicator has Jeff Garbage at the top of a list for the first time in his life. How much VPMK would like to have his mistake destroy his career is entirely up to him but at least fairly earned.

Jeff Scott has won a single FBS game in two years. At the end of his second year he just got blown out by Tulane. There is no improvement and not a single thing has been made better in two years. Most people are going to look at that and see a problem and you can’t expect them to recognize just how much we have given up and winning is seen as impossible event that could never be considered a basic job requirement.

Huh?   This started out as the most bizarre post ever, but then you started to make sense at the end.

McClain is all we got, he was awful today, shake it off, come out fresh on Friday and get smoked.  Go into the off season and regroup, we may not be winners but we do have ourselves a nice culture. (That one was for you Brad😀)

He had zero protection out there.   I would be pissed at the linemen if I was him.  He is lucky that he did not get injured out there.

Mount Rushmore of USF rock bottoms. When I read that, I instantly had the image of Skip in his white windbreaker and white hat, with total confusion etched on his puss. The last few games of his final season here were the worst in my opinion. The decline was undeniable at that point, even for the Skip apologists. McNeese was really bad too, but it was Willie's first game and he was trying to implement that brand new offense, so he got a pass on that one as far as I was concerned. There are enough signs of a possible turnaround right now that it doesn't feel like rock bottom, even though our record sucks.

The same stupid pro-set offense that has never worked at USF.  When will these coaches learn that most players from Florida are on the smaller side but they are speed demons.   Willie's Gulf Coast Offense was the best thing that ever came out of USF, and sadly it went away when he took the Oregon money.

  8. I do not think USF would fire Scott this early.  Not because they do not have the money to pay him off then pay another coach.  USF always seems to find money when they need it.  I feel it is just a bad look for any new recruits if you keep firing coaches, and existing players that he recruited would bail out too.  It is too easy for players to transfer schools these days, so I think USF would just let Scott ride out his contract.

**** streaming.  These bars need to get it together with more games streaming in the future and ESPN+ already entrenched.

    GO BULLS!

The bars do not want to pay whatever extreme amount ESPN/Disney wants for a commercial subscription.  Sure it is only $6.99 a month for us peons, but they probably ask for an arm, leg and first born for a commercial subscription, plus they probably demand a year's subscription.

We have only played twice and in both cases the visiting team has won.

I thought they beat us last time we were in New Orleans, but I may have that confused.   I was looking for a head to head matchup on the USF site, but I could not find it.  I really did not want to dig through yearly results
