That’s nice, but we do need to know what his plan is to win some games now, because there is no long-term if you don’t. I think that’s pretty well been proven all around the country.

Maybe he is saving that for the Monday press conference?

Maybe not everything has to be on Twitter?

What exactly are you looking for?

It is all coach speak anyways.   It is not as if any coach is going to pull out the chalkboard and diagram some plays for the press.

I have this discussion with my father-in-law all the time. He's a West Virginia grad and a rabid fan. In the Big East they were playing and winning BIG New Year's Day bowl games against Oklahoma and Georgia. In the Big XII, he always says "But look how much money we're making!" Then I ask him what his personal cut is . . . as they sit home during bowl season. The school is making big money, but his fan experience has gone steadily downhill.

So should we ask UCF'ers the same question in a few years?

Trent had terrible support while in Tampa. Think I started rooting for Trent due to idiot Steve DUImig going nonstop ripping on Trent. It got very bad. Also Bubba the dumb sponge got into a scuffle with Trent during a charity event. F Bubba & Steve DUImig

Well one of those dudes is dead and other's career is dead while Dilfer keeps on trucking.

This was my original thought right after Scott was fired... Make it a longer term deal on paper, but have an agreement with Leavitt to retire if things don't go well. The reality is that anyone we hire is likely a short term thing, either they are great and get poached, or they are terrible and we have to fire them... I guess conceivably, there is a coach out there that could be middling that we would hang on to, but in this conference, with the talent in this state, there is no reason we should settle for less than double digit wins every other year at least.

If I am VPMK, I am doing some back door deal with CJL, 2 years, come back, help raise money for the stadium, then... if you're not successful (bowl in year 2), retire and get a huge ceremony when the stadium opens.

No one in the mainstream press is even talking about Leavitt.   The only people bringing up his name are clowns on this message board and five people surveyed at the game, and those are probably people on this message board.   No serious person would consider bringing him back.   If you want nostalgia, go watch some old clips on YouTube.

These days, very few jobs are kept for longer than 3-6 years. The days of Spurrier, Bowden, and Leavitt unfortunately are over. The only places keeping their coaches long-term either have the rare consistent winners, like Bama and Clemson, or don't actually care about winning much and are happy to field a team almost no matter the on-field product. How Michigan stayed patient I don't know but I'm sure this year they are happy that they did. Norvell doesn't look like a Saban, though I suppose he could prove me wrong, and I bet he will have a few seasons of downturn like every program does. When he does, I'm sure Deion hopes to be ready for consideration.

Putting Leavitt in the company of Spurrier and Bowden is laughable.   Those men won conference titles.   Those men won national championships.   Leavitt could not even sniff second place in conference play.   He was lucky to get one win above .500 in conference play.   Leavitt had his chance to jump for more money, but he stayed.   Probably stayed too long and was not going to get another shot at a payday job.  If anyone thinks that Leavitt would still be at USF if USF did not fire him, then they are really hitting the crack pipe.  He would have either gotten a better paying job if he actually figured out how to win a conference championship, or he would have lost his job for underperforming.

Unfortunately it is looking that no one wants to see Leavitt return. Well at least no one that can make it happen wants to see Leavitt return especially after the lawsuit lol. At least I can continue to keep complaining about USF not hiring Leavitt until we find a coach that can win 6 or more games every season. 2024 will hopefully have that 12 team playoff starting which gives AAC a better chance. We might be seeing UTSA win AAC so I guess I will root for them in the playoffs until USF can join the playoffs soon I hope lol

We have had several coaches that won 6+ games, and if you are talking about every season, even Leavitt did not do that.   At least two other coaches won 10 games in a season; something that St. Leavitt never did.   Even that Holtz New Error beat teams that Leavitt could never beat.

I liked Leavitt back then, but it is time to move on.

I still stand by my statement.   WVU thought they were hot 💩 when they moved to the B-12, and now they are a perennial bottom feeder with occasional glimpses of glory.

I may be the minority but I don’t believe he received enough grief for the lack of his success.  The guy is a little bit pious and boring for my taste but he is a nice guy and glad he is gone, he was an epic disaster that set us back even further then Chuckles.  Sorry Brad that is my last post on CJS, pinkie promise.

I would say the fans gave him grief.  The press?   Not so much until the end.

  10. Did his daughter really say that?   I have been around enough 7 year old kids as well as being one at one point, and most of them are not that eloquent.   She might have said something like that but more in 7 year old speak.

That being said, this was a gracious post from a coach who got a lot of grief from the fans and the press because of the lack of success.  He could have done like what former Miami Dolphin Brian Cox did to the Buffalo Bills with a two finger salute out the door.   😜

  11. I was a big Gallagher fan as a kid and young teenager.   I did not even know what USF was and did not know he was an alumnus until after I graduated.  While he was known for the Sledge-o-Matic, I remember watching several of his cable specials, and he got into complex comedy like poking fun at whomever was notable in politics.  That was back in the 70's and 80's when a comedian could poke fun at politicians and no one would get their undies in a bunch over it because you were desecrating someone from "their team"   🙄

Unless I missed it, it was too bad that USF did not acknowledge his passing at the game, even if he had nothing to do with USF sports.   I would hope USF in general would make some type of statement, even something from The Oracle would be nice.

Hey I am not saying to rehire Taggart.   However people love to make Leavitt into a Joe Paterno style figure and think every coach after him sucked.

Taggart actually did something here that Leavitt never did.    USF knew that and did not give him an incentive to stay.

Even Strong got 10 wins with Taggart's players.
