Not saying full value but there is more money out there.

Yeah, I agree with you.  It is probably some percentage that is high enough where the USF Foundation does not want to just throw their money away.

Now if the USF Foundation signed on a deal where Jeff Scott gets 100% of that money then the next time they ask me for a donation I am going to send them some coupons from those Val Pack envelopes I get in the mail every week.  😜

People have addressed this in the past. It isn't just that contract with Athletics. There are unpublished deals with the Foundation which aren't public.

Those deals are "unpublished" so unless someone has read the contract, it is just speculation that he gets the full value.   However, I thought it was odd that Jeff Scott would have signed a contract that was completely in USF's favor, since most coaches who suck always hold the universities hostage over their contract buyouts.

I should have gone in to coaching.  It would be great to suck at your job and you get a large sum of money when your employer eventually fires you for incompetence.

football wise he knocks it out of the park...his off the field issues show some cause for concern

From the referenced article for the first issue, it says she contacted him first instead of the police?  The article then wonders what does he know or not know?   Well I did not see a follow up, so it must have been a nothingburger.

For the second issue it says he was showing support for his father-in-law.   Well, if you support your wife's father, you at least have some family loyalty.  That has to be a good overall trait.

He is making $5.7 million over a 3 year contract as a coordinator, which is more than what USF has paid head coaches.

Game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m.; Other Bulls sports make adjustments

According to the article they are travelling to Ft Lauderdale and practicing in Ft Lauderdale.   Maybe at the soccer stadium that replaced the old Lockhart Stadium, or maybe at a Broward County high school?

I grew up down there, and Ft Lauderdale and Boca Raton are not exactly next door to each other.   I have a feeling the team will be travelling all over "South Florida" and that does not bode well for a road weary team.

BTW, it would be cool if USF's OCS is something similar, but hopefully better than what FAU has for an OCS.

I think people legitimately had doubts that a “Co-OC” had sufficient experience to run a program - especially a flailing program. I wasn’t in the room of course but I can’t help but think that was a bad mistake by Kelly.  Not sure exactly what he was thinking.

Willie was still learning in his first years here. We were his development plan and place to become a competent head coach.  Still, Willie had experience that Jeff Scott never had.

We should be hiring people that know what the heck they’re doing.

He was mesmerized by Dabo Swinney.   The thought process is that Jeff Scott learned from his boss and would make a great up and coming coach.   Well sometimes people are promoted to their level of incompetency.

I want to personally thank Coach Scott and the USF Football staff, and sincerely apologize for losing heart after week 2. I know lots of us wish the football gods heard our prayers more often in the past 12 years, but I believe that game in The Swamp was evidence of a huge turnaround in progress. It's as if the coaches and players felt our collective hurt, heard our appeals, and responded in kind. After watching their 3-week body of work, I realize this team is absolutely in the process of turning around - we just didn't see the obvious fruits of it immediately to start the year.

First, the players and Coach Scott himself all came around to high five the fans after game 2. I'll admit, I lost heart a bit after seeing what looked like little emotion on the sidelines in game 1 and only a few players coming around to the fans after the game. I also felt we should have overcome Howard a bit more quickly than we did, but perhaps that reflects some respect to Howard's team and staff and also shows the growth that has happened quickly over the past few weeks. After watching the game in the Swamp, it's as if the coaches and players heard our constructive criticism and made good on ALL of it! I don't know whether Coach Scott or the players heard our appeal to remember the dedicated fans who stay until the end every game, hoping for some high fives and to give words of encouragement to the players we come out to see, but they absolutely showed they care game 2. THANK YOU ALL! That means a lot to us.

Wow, what a showing in the Swamp! I saw grit, passion, heart, determination, and an awesome representation of USF Athletics all around. I just want to thank all the coaches, players, and the USF football staff who worked hard to show up READY. Forget the scoreboard: we showed we belong!

Of course we would all have lost our **** if USF beat the Gators. But here's the thing: we really did beat them in just about all ways except for the scoreboard. Looking at stat category after stat category, watching game tape, and analyzing the ref calls and no-calls, we really dominated the Gators on their home field. Of course there were a few missed opportunities, but it was a heck of a sight to see us even in position to have a few plays make or break the game (I'm sure many of us feared a blowout loss, myself included).

But that's not the most important part. I saw players who didn't lose heart when the going got tough and we were down a few scores already in the first half. I saw coaches fully dialed in, connecting with players constantly. I saw players giving their ALL and leaving it all on the field. I saw grit like I haven't seen start to finish from USF football in a long time. I saw a USF football team which showed up READY. And frankly, I saw a team which played well enough to win the game. I saw playcalls and a game plan ultimately which were very successful, despite the scoreboard. I appreciate the coaching staff for figuring out what would work against the Gators and having the players ready to implement it. I saw players who took hits in stride, both physically and figuratively. This was a team which finally believed in itself. I won't say the game result was referee highway robbery, but I will say the Bulls played well enough to win and showed WE BELONG. I saw a team coming together for what could be a great year.

This team has what it takes to give a much better showing in the W-L columns for the back half of the season. The coaching staff is showing passion and commitment. Looking back, I wonder if perhaps BYU just took everyone by surprise and the sideline was just a bit in shock during game 1. Had the UF game gone like that, I'd feel a lot less confident going forward.

In summary, these players are coming together. The coaching staff is working hard and I now see the effort being put in which maybe wasn't as obvious after that season opener, but was there nonetheless. I don't mind if the Bulls aren't a bowl team this year if they show up for every game like they did against Florida. Show grit, heart, passion, and determination, and we will follow you everywhere, Bulls. Keep on like this, and the wins may follow. But we won't give up on the team as long as they keep the faith and leave it all out there on the field.

I am **** proud of our team for that game in the Swamp and we could win no more games this season but give that level of effort and intensity and I won't give a darn what the scoreboards show. THAT was USF football, the USF football we all know and love. Wins are nice, but heart and passion are what we see in you and inspire us to reflect it back.

Thank you, Bulls. Let's stick it to the Ville, run amok in the conference, hopefully give UCF a final game parting beatdown gift (64-12, perhaps?) and show the country what USF Football is made of!

You might want to retract this statement after today's game.

A few season ago they were $9, then post Covid they jumped to ~$12 and now $15 for what looks like a 16 oz beer. We are talking about the equivalent of paying $10 for a can of basic beer. Lesson learned for me is to make sure nearly all my consumption happens at the tailgate. Not good for attracting/encouraging the casual fan or families to go to a game.

It is the Glazers and that "Tom Brady final season" factor.  Look at the temporary seats in the one endzone.   Those are normally there if RJS is hosting a Super Bowl.   The Bucs are forcing season ticket holders to sign up for a minimum of two years because they know interest will drop off when Brady retires, which could be at the end of this season.   The Glazers are squeezing every dollar out of the fans for every event at RJS.   They are like chipmunks hording nuts for the eventual baren winter in the post Tom Brady era.

However, if we believe the TMZ reporting, the marital rift between Brady and his wife may result in Brady playing a few more seasons past this one.

I posted this on the "Alma Mater" board but I think it bears repeating here where the most traffic is . . .

The U.S. News annual college rankings were released this morning and USF continues to climb - now ranked the No. 42 public university in America and we broke the top 100 for the first time - at No. 97 - among all universities, public or private.

I'll say it again, get this athletic program moving in the right direction and we have a true powerhouse institution in the making in Tampa.

USF now stands at No. 42 among all public universities and continues to be America’s fastest-rising university.

Love it.   It makes my degree even more important, and I might just use this as leverage to get more pay from my current or next employer.

As much as the sports obsessed USF fans dunk on Genshaft, her main focus was to make USF an educational powerhouse.   Unfortunately, the FB and MBB teams fell behind during the push to make USF more than just the "nice little commuter college for kids who want to stay home close to their parents in Tampa".

This is a strawman argument praising a team for scoring against a team that was so far ahead when the game is already over. That is like praising a team that loses every game but loses by less points. You got to score when it matters or it doesn't mean squat. If you are down 35-0 and you score to make it 35-7? What difference does it make ? We were getting blown out and we scored when it did not make one difference in the outcome of the game.

It is embarrassing that you do not even know the definition of a strawman argument.   Did you really go to UCF instead of USF?   You have been like a seagull crapping all over the place for the past two weeks.

Where did I say I was satisfied with CJS or the overall performance of the team?   I was clearing pointing out that the team came out to play in the second half, especially the 3rd quarter.   They could have rolled over and died like many USF teams have done over the CCS and CJS eras, but this one did not.

What box score did you look at?  Puka Nacua destroyed us in the first quarter going for over 100 yards on 4 plays and 2 touchdowns.  He sat the rest of the game.

This box score from CBS Sports that shows they played the same QB through the entire game?   You cherry pick one receiver who had one reception?   What box score were you looking at?

After processing for 1 night here is my issue:

CJS said he was pleased with the progress, was talking up Bohanon, hid away our spring game, touted up the Grit score... he hyped this all up.

And then after BYU he was like "I'm surprised"

It's not that we are bad. It's that CJS thought we were good and was so wrong.

Damages my trust in him. He doesn't seem a good judge of football talent and success and I can't take away anything he says as a fan.

I wish he would have just spent 8 months saying we have a lot of work to do, we're still working on things, we have a lot to fix. We have a new DC, OC, and QB... it's gonna take some time still... etc.

THAT's the crappy part... stop telling me noble lies. Tell me where we are, and specifically what we are doing to get to where we want to go, which needs to be competing for conference championships. And SHOW me that on the field.

That has been "coach speak" since the dawn of time.   Where have you been?

  12. I was at the game, but if I was home I probably would have been tempted to give a rant after that putrid 1st half.   However I have learned over time to stop debating online.  It just is not worth it.

If someone gives me an insult online, I just remember what we were told when I was a kid - sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

  13. Not happy with the results and not giving this team or coaching staff a pass.   The first half was putrid.   It was almost as if the reversal of that fumble recovery for a TD broke their confidence.  That is all on coaching.

They were on fire in the second half.   Maybe they put nicotine in the Gatorade instead of CBD, so the team was alert instead of the sleepwalking they did in the first half.
