  1. Been to Mel’s my friend, but as a freshman. I remember the trip to the hot dog mecca, but not the dog itself. I respect your measure. I wonder what brand of hotdog they use - next time out there why don’t you ask?
  2. Ha. That would be news. I know the ASU (Arizona State) collective tried to do the same thing, but I thought they got shut down. I have to look it up. Their basis for becoming a charity or a nonprofit was that their NIL money would go to athetes doing pro bono work in the communities you know, picking up trash, mowing yards, painting houses and stuff like that. Haha I haven’t heard of that happening actually at all.
  3. I have been buying season tickets to both for decades. Has nothing to do with NIL Like some, I cheer for USF. I don’t cheer for the player NIL agents or the collectives, it feels wrong to me. It could be a generational thing.
  4. Height and weight is measurable, desire is not. If the choice is a twig or a trunk, I’ll take the trunk, all things being equal. With that said, I really just wanted to make a USF food joke. The old folks may remember that being a subject years ago.
  5. Then, CR, while we await Trip’s culinary input, how does that compare to the Arena Club dogs? I’m limited by my golf course hotdog experiences which was led by Bloomingdale Golf Club with the Vienna Beef on a poppyseed bun slathered with onions and mustard. I still think about that dog.
  6. For a point of reference, what’s your favorite hotdog?
  7. Same. Part of my desire for a even playing field and court. if it just comes down to who can empty the most out of their bank accounts, we have to understand that this is not sustainable and it’s just plain insane. NIL has turned into asking fans for more money with no stake (or earnings) in the business.
  8. I’ll say it again I’m not concerned about the people that have left our team. Or our team in general at present.
  9. My comments aren't about the players that aren't here, it's about where the game is headed. If you don't like professional sports, it should concern you.
  10. It's not a job. It's not even the real world. My job didn't pay for my education...my girlfriends (a couple of them) did educate me however. It doesn't bother me "this time around" at all. It bothers me in its existence. It's not good for college sports. Period.
  11. I think you know that I believe coaches should have to fulfill their contract. Unfortunately schools include, at the demand of an agent, a buyout clause through which the school is compensated.
  12. Sure you are. You didn't create the system, risk the capital, invest heavily, any of it. It's a feel good any fan can have.
  13. But unlike real life, that is not the majority of situations. Coaches that don't hold themselves accountable and pull scholarships don't last long. The recent changes in college sports may likely lead to that becoming a reality at more educational institutions. There are a lot of remote possibilities in the world, sucks to make them real.
  14. The players aren't coaches...? The student-athletes are students, at USF (or other institutions) and there to learn enough to obtain a degree and have a chance to be something in their life. Monetizing student-athletes and creating free agency is the exact opposite of what an educational institution should be doing. It's not their domain. It's been said a number of times. If you want to get paid to play basketball, go play pro ball. It's a lost cause now, but the NCAA and its member institutions would be far better off modeling integrity and not changing the game as a desperate attempt to have their own highly paid club teams each season. I don't think this is the mission of a university. How can any institution of higher learning put education behind pro sports on campus? Oh, Loyalty, yeah. Loyalty is to a team, to your teammates. It's a lost art today. Now everyone is in it for themselves and for that reason college basketball and football is tainted. Some will lose interest, others will ***** about not enough money to compete with the Top 10 teams. Perhaps when there are fewer paid amateur opportunities around the nation for all our wanna be ballers, they'll let the adults back in the room.
  15. Come to think of it, my academic scholarship at USF was year to year. It wasn't guaranteed four years. I had no idea until now, I was getting ripped off by having to live up to my end of the deal.
  16. Some of us only talk about the topic at hand, not all over the board or about what we know nothing about. Just because it's not talked about in a particular thread doesn't mean that those that disagree with you condone it.
  17. When handing out other people's money.
  18. He's on a contract with a known buyout in a known business. An adult that creates value.
  19. I didn't think so. So to suggest he was out there shopping himself makes it okay for his players to do the same is faulty rationale. Coaches are going to coach because they love to do it. This turnover in roster is ridiculous and doesn't end in the best outcome generally speaking for players and for the university. With that said, I hope Pryor gets his $39,000 and picks up a fly ride. This alleged future NBA player may never have the chance again...
  20. I hope you are generously contributing to their bag...
  21. Did he? Was there mention of him having contact with other teams?
