We should table this thread until we at least win an FBS game

don't know how an OCS changes the narrative that much
probably doesn't short term, but it's the long term implications

I’d take Larry Scott at this point. He’s been doing better job at Howard than Jeff Scott has here.
Well CJS is 2-0 against FCS opponents including FAMU so maybe we just need to head over the MEAC

That’s called talent

Probably more than they deserve, but I thought 5K when I was sitting there. A lot in the A/C

The Bulls Den? Can remember what it was called. Little pub like bar that had music some nights. Was there 84-89

I was surprised with the 4th and 12 fake field goal...I thought 4th and long he'd take the points there
Me too, but I can't say I hated the call. I think we lost 3 or 4 yards on the play before which made it a much tougher get

We do have some talent, but not nearly enough. Hopefully it improves, but it recruiting is looking pretty bad so far. I also hope Timmy doesn’t transfer out.
There's enough to be in the middle of the aac, but not when your coaching sucks

This loss was a tough one to take. Was hoping we’d be able to win 3 to 4 games this year, but not seeing it. It’s hard being a fan of a team sucks. Not sure how we can’t find talent when there are so many good HS recruits in our own backyard. We went from being able to hang with pretty much any team, not losing to everyone so quickly. There’s always next year
We have some talent. Coaching sucks. Have to figure out how to coach your way out of wet paper bag before you can make that jump

Tulsa had what 2-3 seasons.
Consistent program that has the ability. This shouldn't be happening in Florida in Tampa with the football we have around us.
Not disagreeing. Just wanted to clarify "competing on a national level"

How is nationally ranked not competing at the National level? Neck, I would take top 32.
I guess it's not at ESPN/$EC level, but that is just a popularity contest.
So is ranking and like I said Tulsa was ranked a year ago. And getting ranked every once in awhile isn't competing week in and week out on a "national level"
So thanks for clarifying that you just want us to be ranked again at some point

Same here. In fact I recall when @USFBULL_08 joined this board and was in the band. IIRC he might have been a fan since the Grothe years at best.
Some of us have been fans of the team before it even existed and we were on campus begging for the admin to finally let us have football. It happened 4-5 years after I finished my MBA.
They Ok'd it while I was on campus. Started playing a couple of years later

you simply cant measure progress by wins and losses at this time(2021)
this team lacks talent and depth that only 2 or 3 more recruiting classes can fix
i know this is painful to watch
LOL, 5 years. 5 recruiting classes are needed to turn it around .... LOL

Top 25 not losing to Tulsa.
Top 25 isn't necessarily competing on a "national level". Wasn't tulsa ranked last year?

No buddy. I've been watching since the beginning. Was in the stands opening night. Now move along if you want to be wise ass

I agree except there is zero chance with this coaching
That's my point. The coaching just isn't what it should be.
Just now, USFBULL_08 said:Never?
Yes, never

Just now, USFBULL_08 said:
I guess that is where we disagree. I expect to compete at a national level not at a confernece level.
Maybe that is wishful thinking, but I don't think its unreasonable.
That is fine, but we weren't doing that his year and we have never had the talent to compete week in and week out on a "national level" so yes that is wishful thinking and unreasonable at this point

Not trying to be a Johnson, but Temple is the only realistic win left on our schedule. Are you okay with it 2-10 season after 2 years?
I can only hope that we beat Temple and that parlays into another W or 2 over teams that should be beatable this year like ECU, Tulane, or ucf ... problem is all of those guys are on the road because no a 2-10 season and just 1 FBS win after 2 years is not good enough

Yup. You have a 6'2" QB. Put him under center and drive forward. Why in the he'll would start your RB 7 yards back and run the same **** play that you just stopped Tulsa on on their 2 point conversion. I am Sick of this crap
Just now, Rocky Style said:Can't argue with this logic.
Me either. Makes no sense. I didn't like the play when it worked for a td earlier in the game

that's what they said last year ......

Yeah not today vs Tulsa, but in a bigger picture it is.
Only when that picture includes P5 teams and maybe top few of teams in our conference. I'm not saying we are loaded, but we have enough talent to win 3-4 games in this conference this year ... but we won't

This all comes down to the horrendous 3rd/4th and 1 playcalling on our last drive. That, and dropped passes in critical moments.
I feel confident in our QB for the next four years (assuming this program doesn't find a way to drive him away). The polish, improvisation, and accuracy displayed today is very encouraging for a Freshman. Not a perfect game, but I spotted several critical dropped passes that were thrown on point.
I don't have a problem with Timmay and for much of the game the offense. I get being a little conservative at times because of Timmay. But overall there are some very questionable decisions and the defense is just flat out bad
3 minutes ago, smazza said:there were coaching mistakes for sure
but the lack of talent is a big part of the problem
the lack of tackling stands out
the dbs paly way too soft
guy you need to strap in this will take 2 maybe 3 years
No it isn't and no it doesn't

He did last year too and then there is just the way this team is prepared ... or not prepared each week
