Always love some morning baseball to make a Friday go by quicker, but can't help thinking this is a bad thing for winning the series. It's extremely difficult to win two in one day; especially if you use a ton of pitchers.

Agreed. Game one is a big one in terms of winning the series. Don't want to be in the position of having to go all out in game two

“Last night was kind of the perfect offensive night for us,” Kingston said. “It was a combination of if you don't get your pitch, take your walks and if you do get your pitch, hammer it. Last night was perfect for how we try to approach a game.”

I heard Kingston speak about hitting and his philosophy at a coaches conference the winter before his first spring. I personally took a lot from it and remember thinking that if he can get this going we will be very strong. Well, here we are.

  3. Couldn't watch the game (my team played a regional playoff game last night) but I remember the announcers talking about the walks the gators were handing out. I now see that number was 17. That many walks also brings a lot pipe shots because pitchers are trying not to fall behind or they need to get back into counts when they clearly don't have it. could have lead to the Home run explosion.

We'll be lucky to get 5 out of him.  I can't remember if he's ever gone 7 and thats against midweek level opponents, not the Gators.  Also he's not a strikeout type of pitcher.  He's our only pitcher with less Ks (27) than innings pitched (37).  I think I've actually seen 6 of his 7 starts this year.  I'm hoping for 5 innings, but it might be a 3 inning game from DJ.

Well, if that's the case, I question the decision to start him. Its just not the time in the schedule to plan on the bullpen getting through 12 outs when we need to win the final two weekend series. Especially considering how long the UF hitters can make those 12 outs. I think the starter has to go long even if he gets hit.

  5. would love for these numbers to come.

The last time Strong coached in the AAC (2013), he had two linemen with at least 10 sacks and four defenders with at least 13 tackles for a loss. It's a given that Auggie SanchezSouth Florida's returning leader in tackles and sacksis going to shine as a senior linebacker. However, it's the second and third members of the front seven who should most benefit from the addition of Strong.

Being on a Tuesday helps a ton. All BP arms should be all go on Friday unless someone has to pitch five innings or so.

Yeah that does help but it still seems like a game to let the starter get beat around a little, considering its late in the year, its sandwiched between two  conference series with another one following UCONN, and UCONN and UCF are both in the running for the top seed in the conference. I would rather just give the pen as much of the week to rest as possible.

If I had to pick one as being the most important, it would be RPI. The NCAA weighs that very heavily, since it is objectively measured.

We still have 11 regular season games against top 50 RPI teams, to make a good impression. 6 of those are conference road games. How well we do in all those games will go along way in determining whether USF is ranked in the polls:

    3 games @UCONN (RPI #30).

3 games vs HOU (RPI #18)

    3 games at @UCF (RPI #33)

1 game vs FGCU (RPI #49)

    1 game @UF (RPI #12)

Yeah, we definitely are going to need some more road game wins (or good losses)  to get any more respect. Those conference series are critical. Should be an exciting war on I4 series with a lot on the line

USF has been getting votes from the Baseball coaches for a number of weeks, but other teams have jumped over us to break into their top 25. Hopefully, we can win at least two out of three against Cincy and that might be enough.

FYI, USF IS ranked #21 by Perfect Game.

USF IS also ranked #25 by the Baseball Writers

    USF IS ranked #23 RPI

It is assumed that USF has not been ranked by some of the baseball polls, as a result of a weak OOC schedule and due to having played only a handful of road games, up to this point.

In the Massey Baseball Composite, USF is #19.

Thank you for the update. Appears to me we are ranked. I don't think baseball really has a clear cut ranking that matters like you find in football, and seems most sites are placing us in the top 25 tier. just gotta stay consistent and get hot in the tourney.
