Fair enough. I respect your opinion. As someone whose daughter just went through the university system in Florida and didn’t come out “converted” or feel she was subjected to any particular agenda, I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I respect it. But I do live in the backyard of New College and I’ve been watching that one play out. It’s already cost them an international conference on water quality that they were going to host - and it’s associated economic impact here - but that’s OK, I guess. Who needs that?

Elementary teacher here. We don’t push “liberal narratives.” But I can agree with frisco’s other post. Nothing like a happening to our AAU status because of him, and not much negative is going to happen overall to the public university systems. It’s all talk to make himself look better for a failing presidential run.

Yeah, I'm sure FSU is really shaking right now. Also, University of Miami is a part of the AAU, and I'm sure their academics blow you guys out of the water.

    Why are you even here

This is the first time I am not laughing at the Big 10 possibility.  Since Miami is now in AAU also. I can see a USC/UCLA thing happening if Miami can get out of the AAC

If Miami can’t get out of the AAC then we are stuck here forever. However, if they can make it out of the ACC, I’d place more odds on us being there.

Shut up!!!! I mean we have heard about this for years and it just never seemed like it was going to happen. This is huge. I literally thought Mike was putting up a prank post.

I was told this was likely happening in the Fall. Absolutely ecstatic about this

Sure and it’s no different when it happens in football or basketball. I think their point is is that it is with people immediately jump to. It’s probably a flaw of mine, but I am under the belief system that it is not my job to question the hiring or firing of anybody who is not under me or maybe that I work with.

There’s nothing wrong with your point of view here. There’s also nothing wrong with people questioning why some of these coaches are allowed to continually underperform when they make really good money to do so. Baseball, basketball, and football, which are arguably the most important athletics programs at most universities, have all been abysmally bad. We’re the ones paying to see this product, and paying for the merchandise, often times giving up time that can be spent in much more meaningful ways.

    So what?

A lot of people on this board never played a day of football past little league or high school and were calling for the firing of Jeff Scott.

A lot of people on this board never played a day of organized basketball and were calling for the firing of Brian Gregory.

All TDS did in their tweet is ask the question: "Will Billy Mohl be fired?"  There is nothing wrong asking that question.

There’s also nothing wrong with expecting better from our teams. When some of our programs continue to be terrible, these players have to understand that some of us fans have been putting up with this **** for a long, long time. Much longer than most of them have even been interested in this school.

Looks like ECU is going to pitching by committee and hoping to slip past us while saving their best arms. Their starter today only made three starts this season. Maybe we can make that backfire, but if we do, we've already used Cebert and Hunter Mink. BTW: Great job so far by Mink. Cebert only lasted an inning and a third.

And it looks like it’ll work for them. We’re so, so bad.

I predict total armageddon. Mohl fired, Brutcher and Cantu to the draft, one or both of Snow and Boser transfer. It is the only way this plays out that is on brand for us the past few years.

Don’t know how much of an Armageddon that really is. Kind of like football, sometimes you need a purge when things get this bad. It’s unfortunate because I do think the players you mentioned are very solid, especially Snow, but I want a full team. We don’t have that.

  9. Mohl had no business ever being head coach at a mid major d1 university and now USF paid the price for it. He’s so laughably bad. If you don’t think the super regional run was a fluke, I don’t really know what to tell you at this point. I feel for the players, especially the offense. Last night having no game plan at the plate with the tying run on 2nd and no outs is just inexcusable. I’m quickly now starting to befriend apathy.

Daily Stampede and TDS discord  are woke cancelling Matt and the Fowler avenue collective because Matt said he is so glad he works at Miller not Budweiser.

    What a disgrace

It's so laughable when people use the word woke.  What he originally said wasn't the issue. It's what came after.

Time will tell, but he had a slow start at Kennesaw State where he won one game total the first season, and five wins total his second season. Wins did increase his third season ( still under .500), and they had a magical season this year, but we cannot afford something similar to that.

Hopefully at this point he can at least hold on to Miguel, and get a few players at least on the level of what we are losing.

We'll almost certainly be holding on to so players, like people who have previously transferred in and would have to sit out if they transfer again.  We've also gotten some of Kennesaw State's best players.  It's going to be a rebuild no matter what but he was the first coach there to have a winning season in over 16 years.  I'm pretty confident that this was the right hire.

Is frustrating when you see other similarly situated schools make great coaching hires in basketball and football but we are struggling to do the same. Just a few examples: FAU ( Herman), Liberty, Iona, Mc Neese State have all been able to hire good coaches.

Still holding out any opinion until the coaching hire is made. But there are no excuses at this point for Kelly not to get it done.

He needs to get it done. I agree. And it also seems like other schools of similar status fair out better than us. But it very much seems like a lot on here think we need a major name to be successful and that just isn’t true.

I am going to wait and see how all this plays out, but regardless of our history its up to Kelly to convince a great coach to come to USF, and get this thing over the finish line. He gets paid millions of dollars ( I assume), and coaching hires is the most part of his job.

We have been able to sign good, sought after coaches in the past; Holtz, Heath, and Taggart. So at some point Kelly just needs to get it done.

However , I am still hopeful  regarding Brey, and if not Brey someone of like quality, or atleast a Dusty May type.

    Your assumption is correct.

We absolutely did a great job in the past, but our landscape is totally different now.  We were a major/mid major on the rise then.  Now we're facing years of mismanagement and really bad win/loss records and just about the whole country sees that now.  We can't use prior history as easily as we once could.

From everything I've seen now, Brey more than likely isn't happening.
