  1. That actually sounds interesting, I dont care what that says about my life
  2. I saw a female sailor tie her boot during the anthem (known as colors) and some high ranking marines blew her ears off and made sure to inform her leadership. I'm sure they thought it was disrespectful. I've also associated that song with battle and wounded warriors before it was cool to kneel for it. Then there is the black power fist he threw up. Anyway, football is coming back, and I couldnt be more pumped.
  3. I still think 4 wins is likely, but I have a good feeling about the Notre Dame game this year
  4. I'm not even arguing that they are wrong in the change they are trying to make. I agree with this movement man! That's why I get frustrated when the messaging is wrong. And that's what I'm calling out, is distasteful messaging that isnt going to help. Let me make a solid analogy for you that is not different in any way, as long as we understand that kneeling during the anthem is at least a form of disrespect. I'm a big believer that elites are stealing and printing money from normal citizens. Now I decide to flip the finger every time I arrive to a place. This is my form of protest. I dont mean any disrespect by it, because I'm protesting being robbed!! But I cant understand why people are frustrated by it! I hope you can see I'm criticizing the messaging, not the actual beliefs. If your messaging sucks, you're just turning people away from the right ideas. At some point we cant keep acting like we hate America and expect us to reach this 'pinnacle'. We gotta unite. That's USF's, KJ's, and Jeff Scott's message. Which is why I hate the NBA's messaging, where they fined a GM for saying "fight for freedom. Free hong kong". But then act like they care about people in America. Absolutely not. You better care about every life NBA.
  5. Dude! If you ONLY kneel when the flag shows up, idk what else you can call that LMAO again, you're not even being honest with the discussion now. I'm fully aware of the intent.
  6. I dont think we are at the pinnacle. Libertarianism has had the answers for this problem for a long time. The state should not be initiating force overseas, and it should not be initiating force against our own people. Economic prosperity is the biggest show of force there is.
  7. Look man, if not one person on this board can name a country better at multiculturalism and not being racist than America, I find it very dishonest to protest our flag of all things. Itd be like if I was against UCF being in the AAC due to recruiting competition, then turning around and cheering for them. I just dont think you can do both.
  8. This is pretty good news considering we are due for another 4-8 season unless Cade Fortin or Noah Johnson is the next great QB.
  9. I've quoted two people this same question, and still no response so I'll ask one more time: What country is more ethnically multicultural, while also being less racist than America? I feel this is an important question to answer in a country where a large number of athletes kneel for our flag. To be clear, I have no problem with athletes kneeling, or expressing themselves any way they see fit.
  10. I try to stay neutral on these because I dont know all the facts, I wasn't there, dont know the lead up, why he was being questioned, his body language, nothing. Just a short short clip. But wow, youd think something that caused so much protest would be a little easier to defend
  11. I can agree with everything you've said while also adding that as I watch this video, I think I could have prevented that death by slamming him. There were 3 cops. Get big guys.
  12. Amen brother. I just know if I'm running a police station (which you're right, I'm probably not qualified to do either) I'd consider it a failure to have somebody die, and I'd be looking for every route to avoid that. As I'm sure they try to do already. But another point to this is there is no incentive structure to really punish departments with mishaps like this. Even now, they barely started punishing the cop individually for it, which I think more of the blame should go higher in the department. They need to be trained better.
  13. I've never heard anybody say there is no racism in this country. Racism exists in every country. I challenge you to name a few countries more multicultural than us and less racist than us.
  14. Thanks for kicking tail overseas. I never deployed, though I was a Navy Corpsman for 5 years, a couple of those years with the Marines (8404). I got an Expert qualification at the M4. I thought I was a stud with my rifle. Anyway, I should have worded what i said better. What i meant by not just jumping to shooting center mass is that there are other ways to diffuse the situation while also implying that there are situations where warning shots work. Obviously this would not apply to the most recent video, there were too many people around the target. I mean if you're both on dirt, or in a cleared area, and you have a clear line of sight, I'd feel safe firing a warning shot, knowing that this guy is going to listen to me now or hes going to die. I've seen people change real fast with gunfire. Also, weren't the rules of engagement over there to only shoot if ordered to, or if you're being shot at? All I'm saying is it's their responsibility to make an arrest while keeping everybody alive. Not all situations can be avoided, I get it. But our citizens gotta live.
  15. I think I disagree with shooting center mess with first shot every time. That's the point of this whole thing is that life matters.
  16. That dude must have been deaf. As easy as it is to blame the cop in that one, Jacob Blake was careless with his life. But as the cop, just tackle him!! Teach these cops mma and suplex that guy!! Supreme bragging rights within the force, and nobody is dead. Bam. Like Delda said, they need more competent people in the force. Pay more for better candidates if you have to.
  17. That has got to suck knowing you're being profiled by a racist cop for being black. I know I'd feel a combination of fear and anger at the same time. I noticed you mentioned twice in your post that this is an American problem. While I have heard our police are quicker to resort to violence, from what I've seen by studies is that America is one of the least racist countries in the world. I could be completely ignorant on this, but what countries are better at being multicultural than America? I'd be interested on your take on which is the bigger problem between the racism, or the police violence?
  18. Thank you. It's tough because everybody has different experiences and these conversations naturally deal with generalizations. I've lost friends due to taking similar stances. It sucks because I'm not a fan of anybody getting killed. In most situations, all involved could have done something better, including trigger happy cops. Where I might be biased is the framing of these topics. They seem to purposely make white people feel guilty, and if any white person steps out of line, they trend on Twitter with people dog piling them. I dont know of you guys have noticed, but any trending white athlete on twitter these last few months has been shaming them for their views. Urlacher is the latest victim. If I'm being honest, I think this is being done on purpose to create divide. Think about how every person in America is buried on the internet. How easy would it be to provoke an already unstable race relations? Even if this isnt manufactured, you're lying to yourself if you think in some way they arent trying to manipulate us. But I digress from my tinfoil hat conspiracy theory, and thank USF for dedicating today to talk about social justice issues. Bless us all
  19. There are behavioral reasons why blacks are more likely to be shot by police. There are tons of these out there. White people are more likely to commit suicide. This is also related to behavior. But in both situations, it is beyond pointless to make it a race issue. Feel free to mention disproportionalities, but these issues go beyond race. We should never make it the focal point
  20. The NBA is walking out on games due to black people being killed by the police. Despite there being many white and other races of victims, apparently their only problem is that the victims are black, not that people are being killed by police. I'm going to assume our team cares about the latter, since our messaging is centered around unity and injustice in general. That is something I can stand behind. I hope our team gets full recognition for doing things the right way.
  21. Exactly. Everything I've seen from them has been about coming together. Nothing divisive
