  1. It really does seem that JK and McMurphy go out of their way to be richards. I get it with McMurphy after being fired from the local paper by what is toilet boy's problem?.
  2. For money and football BYU and UC. For the future and recruiting USF and UCF. There. Done.
  3. Um, Because they're in the top 25 of the richest public schools with an endowment of over $1 billion, they've been a consistent power in basketball for 50 years with 2 national championships, consistent in football and in one of the best recruiting areas. And they would give WVU a regional partner.
  4. Who is discriminating against religion? Nobody has a right to take away someone else's rights even if you call it religion.
  5. I've thought the same thing. If the NCAA had any real power it should have controlled the conferences based on geography. I would love to see them broken up and organized like this. This would be the best thing to level the playing field and promote parity since they started limiting scholarships.
  6. If the decision was made using logic and foresight I would agree with you. Texas teams present the obvious pushback from their neighbors even if they don't admit it. I understand Utah has history, alumni and name recognition but why expand west when you already have WVU on an island in the east? The LGBT thing and Sundays present additional headaches. USF/UCF add one of the best recruiting areas, big TV markets and emerging economic and alumni bases. They also give you the basis of an Eastern division to the conference along with WVU.
  7. Am I getting really old? I remember Henry and Jim. Just barely. (Some of you may need to google them.)
  8. http://draftwire.usatoday.com/2016/08/11/watch-usfs-rodney-adams-leap-over-defender-for-toe-tapping-touchdown/
  9. I posted this in another thread this morning but ESPN is telling the ACC to expand to 9 conference games and a P5 game or 8 and 2 P5 games. They'll more than likely cancel games some against group of 5 teams in the future.
  10. I think quality on the field is usually over-rated compared to money, markets and recruiting but this presents some good arguments that the current candidates won't water the Big 12 down. Reminds me of when the coach for Southern Miss said we watered down C-USA and then we went out and beat them here in 2002. Still remember that game. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/17271490/the-numbers-lie-many-big-12-expansion-candidates-actually-bolster-football-play
  11. If we don't get into the Big 12 it might start getting harder to schedule P5 teams. ESPN gave this ultimatum to the ACC: Ten games plus a patsy or too doesn't leave too many games for the Group of 5. UCF just scheduled a home and home with UNC and we have one with Georgia Tech (2021-2022), not to mention the hope of continuing with FSU. The Big 10 and Pac 12 play 9 also. Slim pickings to prove ourselves against the P5. http://www.dailypress.com/sports/teel-blog/dp-teel-time-acc-nine-vote-post.html
  12. I think people know UCF more just because of the BCS bowl and somehow forget they went 0-12 last year. Shows you what one season can do even when head to head record goes to us. The Skip Holtz years really hurt. USF's endowment is almost triple, it's ranked higher in academics by services like U.S. News and Forbes, is ranked higher in research and patents (2 metrics away from preeminent status), has a higher ranked medical school and is in a larger TV market. If you write about these things for a living it's just laziness not to be aware. I just saw this the other day about our medical school. http://www.tampabay.com/news/education/college/usf-medical-school-reports-huge-surge-in-applications/2280089 Now all we have to do is get football back to where it was and higher. This isn't to put UCF down because they have a bright future too. It's just to point out the sloppiness of a lot of sports writers, as well as the ignorance of some fans.
  13. U.S. News has USF #156. Boise isn't even ranked nationally. It's #61 as a regional school. Memphis is listed as a Tier 2 school. BYU is listed as a regional school too. Keep in mind that in addition USF has a cutting edge medical school and very highly ranked patent and research record. People tend to equate familiarity with academic quality. They know nothing about USF so they think it sucks.
  14. Boise? Academics? Hahahahahahahahahaha. And USF: http://www.usf.edu/about-usf/points-of-pride.aspx
  15. When I see a column for Academics and it only has yes/no that's an indication of a lack of critical thought with the person who wrote it. Then I stop reading.
  16. Ever notice how people who aren't that familiar with the schools almost always write UCF but spell out our name as South Florida? Do people think it will get confused with University of San Francisco?
  17. There's a lot of talk that the AAC is already negotiating with MTSU to become a member after the conference is raided. If we don't get into the Big 12 it's pretty much C-USA time again especially if three teams are poached.
  18. I wouldn't say I would be happy because I'm buying into the optimism but it would hard to complain about a 9 win season considering where we've been recently.
  19. Wouldn't be a bad season despite the high hopes and talk of going undefeated. Would probably include losses to FSU and a split with Navy, Cincinnati, Memphis and Temple. http://no2minutewarning.com/2016/08/bovada-college-football-win-totals-2016/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+No2MinuteWarning+(No+2+Minute+Warning)
  20. Won't spoil the surprise but he has us in it.
