  1. Don't be dramatic. I am not condemning him. The guy needs more time in practice. I believe he should be the backup QB at this stage in his career. I wasn't trying to be dramatic, merely advocating for the kid.
  2. Mike White is YOUNGER. He is 19, Flowers is 20. Mike White is the better looking QB. His age is part of the reason for his past mistakes. I think he is growing past it. Mike White led us in our final 2 drives and won the game.... Edit, now I'm not discounting QF for the future (as in competing for next season). But it is clear who our starting QB should be for the rest of the season. And I still contend that MW should have had the start in the Houston game, but that's in the past. It seems I overlooked the fact that Mike White was younger than QF. As such, I should yield now. Gotta have my facts straight before I interject with opinion. My bad 😳
  3. Flowers gets one shot and we condemn him already? And on the heels of a family incident...that's not even a fair shake
  4. 9-16 2 Tds and 6.6 ypa vs 6-15 0 Tds and 7 ypa I know the stats, I didn't say Mike white didn't pull this game out. I said he didn't play that much better seeing as he was the incumbent to job anyway. He's older with more experience. Flowers had a death in the family, his first start, and it was a rough one against a bad defense. All I'm saying is that we haven't got much to lose and Mike White does a pretty good job at losing. I'm Mike white has had time to become adjusted to his line and receivers, he SHOULD know where the line is weakest and where his routes are. He should have his timing down with his wideouts and trust if someone may be able to go get the ball. These things come with some time, reps, and exposure. All of which Flowers has not had
  5. Give the kid a shot, mechanics can be worked on. And I stick by my "we are going to lose anyway" statement. So what do we lose by starting a young QB, and essentially showing recruits that if you have the goods, you have a chance to start. We stick with a poorly performing Mike White and all we are saying is that we are content to sit in squalor rather than take a chance on Flowers for another game or two
  6. Fair enough, my only thoughts are that the rest of our guys aren't stellar either. If we are going to lose I suppose I just rather it be while letting this kid grow in the pocket rather than watching White turn the ball over repeatedly and Bench present as low end mediocrity. I know it was a bad team, but White didn't do leaps and bounds better than Flowers either
  7. I didn't watch the game, but I sid check the stats and though stats can be misleading, tell my why the kid shouldn't start again? His completion percent left much to be desired yes BUT he extended plays. Not to mention his first start back to back with what I swear was his brothers death? Give the kid a break, let him play through it and get better. He can tweek his mechanics in practice. He may not be "polished", but the other guys you might call polished are pretty miserable.
  8. COA has had a recruiting class (yet to be finished) and a third, he has a way he wants to play and right now he seems to be trying to find guys that meet that style that others schools are sleeping on a bit. A problem I see occurring after this season, is that it doesn't seem to me that he will have a plethera of schollies. Since we don't have a roster full of 4-5 stars the plan seems to be, lets try to run everyone off the court. I am onboard. You can coach shooting form and improve, you can coach endurance and stamina. You can't coach size and pure speed. The offseason is the perfect time to run the guys ragged because they don't have to worry about being exhausted come game time. COA wants his guys to be the most in shape team on the court and is on his way to getting there. Step two is working on the shooting, spacing, and reads. Remember last season at Kentucky his boss said at the beginning of the season they had to know what they did poorly. In order to start addressing the issues he had to see during the game what their weaknesses were and build on them. Lets see how COA puts his roster to task.
  9. Commits don't mean anything until it's seen how they contribute on the court ... Touche
  10. And how have his predecessors done with the local talent? All the way back to our first big-name hire, Lee Rose? Rome wasn't built in a nanosecond... Since Coach O did the same thing as his predecessors that doesn't bold well for his future. I knew how Rome was built and I know how a college program is built and that's with talent. A school like USF who doesn't hire a name coach like Auburn did, has to be able to land local talent or else. Expecting to land talented guys from other states is very, very difficult to impossible to pull off. At least in the case of Bacon, we lost him to another Florida school. It's not like he chose to leave the state rather than stay close to home with us. And as far as his boy Sanders, he's a baller but he will implode if his attitude doesn't change a little.
  11. Holston is a SG, and Peters plays point I believe, I'm just saying he's more of a scorer than a facilitator. I thought Mercurius was listed as a SG as well but I'm seeing point in a couple places. However at 6'4 ish at this level he could run the 2. I'm not excusing his striking out, I was hoping we would land at least one of these targets we have been talking about (a good friend of mine is a Nole grad, I haven't stopped hearing it). If he coaches well this year, and leads us to a good year (better than just respectable) all of a sudden we look that much better of a landing site. At least playing time can be a pitch to recruits lol. Plus I've seen it said that commits don't mean anything until signing day.
  12. Well I think 2 of the guys pulled in for next year are SG's, Peters is a SG in a PG body. You can't really teach athleticism but you can help develop a shot, and right now I think he wants to get our name out there but push more for the scheme fitting guys.
  13. "We've got to recruit kids we can try to get, and we have to develop them. That will lead us to recruiting those All-Americans," Antigua said. "We start by recruiting quality athletes who want to play our style (up-tempo). Winning gets people to come out. We will worry about the results when they happen. It starts by chipping away at the rock." http://www.bradenton.com/2014/07/02/5236428/commentary-after-what-hes-been.html As much as it pains me to say this, I think that although he wants to target some of these top tier players he understands that there are going to be kids out of our reach for now. The focus is more on getting those glue guys like Santos and asking them to run his offense. Like he said, winning brings the people, he may be a little less focused on full recruitment and a little more on game planning and preparation for the season.
  14. When you say "this recruiting class", do you mean Santos and Peters? Or the guys playing this season?
  15. Great read, this is a kid flying below the radar but has potential. I hope we can land him. He is a good fit for what's shaping up to be our team next year.
  16. Bruce pearl has managed to land a too tier wing, and Horace Spencer for whom we were a long shot to get. Now I've seen that he is turning his sights toward Bacon AND that FSU is so far the front runner. This is saddening
  17. You guys are great for even being here and following this forum! I'm new around this forum and I'm just glad to be a part of it. I'm also glad to be part of Bacons top ten, and not just because I like the breakfast food, interested to see how this resolves. I have faith in Antigua.
  18. I was also defending my "show this cat cat some love". I have committed to showing support for my alma mater with an equivalent fervor akin to UK fans. I love their energy, passion, and support and I believe that (as well as the obvious legacy and history of the program) sets them apart from other programs. I want to bring some of that to USF that's all. All in good spirits
  19. Sorry, I like winning. It excites me. As a younger adult, I know the feeling when the stands go wild in support of a team, it's players, and their work. I'm sorry yet not sorry for trying to infuse some energy and enthusiasm to the board. I suppose the next time I'm at a game I should cross my legs like a gentleman and sit in quiet serenity during the game, offering up a golfers clap and a "good show my boy" for spectacular play. I'm not saying be creepy and message him every day of course, but paying a one time "go bulls" seems appropriate
  20. Dwayne Bacon plays like a grown man. A backcourt of Dwayne Bacon, Sanders, and Roddy Peters...I'm salivating
  21. Yes because fan support has never helped land a recruit anywhere ever lol. He's a great player, I'm excited for our school, why not make some noise?
  22. I might create a twitter just to show some love for this cat! Love his game hope we can recruit him!
  23. http://zagsblog.com/articles/corey-sanders-says-rutgers-unlv-depaul-usf-working-hard/ Article from Adam Zagoria on sanders basically saying we are still pursuing hard. Just an update. Coach O hasn't been sitting on his hands. In this same article it says Isaiah Briscoe is kind of looking elsewhere but Dwayne Bacon has us in serious consideration
