Agree with others that we would have lost this game in the past. Lots of ball still to be played, but a good start to conference play. The road game Sunday will be another test.
Saw the Volleyball coach at the game. Briefly spoke with her, and congratulated her for a great season and turning that program around. Always good to see coaches/players from other sports at games. Also saw some WBB players at the game. After last night, I can only imagine what kind of practice they had today…
Also saw and spoke briefly with Derrick Brooks (wearing a USF shirt) last night. I believe that his daughter is on the softball team. Nice to see someone like him, with his credentials, supporting USF.
Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but it seems like the university is on the upswing. AAU certification is a big deal IMO, and most sports (especially football and MBB) are getting better. We’ll see what happens with the spring sports, but things are looking good.

Noticed the same thing. At least I’ve seen the USF banner/emblem in these “arenas”. Been to Tulane and ECU, and I felt like some high schools somewhere were missing their gyms…made me appreciate the Yuengling Center that much more. High school gyms - reason # 264 why we need to get out of this conference.

Anyone catch the last name on SMU #23’s jersey? I think it was CAAR’s younger sister. Trivial, but interesting regardless…
Was a nice win, but I agree with CousinRicky - not taking any games for granted this year.

Last couple of days have been crazy but fun. Drove down in the afternoon and had dinner with an old friend at the Flanigans in Boca. Quite a few Bulls fans there at the restaurant - was great to see.
It was my first time visiting FAU’s stadium. Other posters have made comments similar to my thoughts about the facility. I hope that Athletics staff was taking good notes about what to improve on for our OCS. For 340 million, I want something better…
That being said, it’s always fun to go to an away game/bowl game, as the USF fans that attend are always fired up and motivated. For example, I thought it was great that the fans started chanting “Golesh” when he was expressing his opinions to a referee.
Made it back to LW just before 3:00 AM. Proud to say that we were first at Gate C for the MBB game on Friday. Watched the 4th straight win! Don’t know how MBB will do in conference play, but they are much improved. It’s worth the price of admission just to watch Pryor. Dude is a spazz, but he’s great! Kudos to John Lewis and Lelo Prado for being at the MBB game after being in Boca the night before. Saw MK at the MBB game, assuming he was at Boca also.
Looking forward to the rest of MBB and WBB season, and to seeing how the spring sports will do. Great time to be a Bull!
Oviedo CC losing (at Ray Jay, no less) and slipping further into mediocrity makes it that much better. I’m sure that Timmy’s Dad is burning up the phone line…

Funny story... At the women's game against N.C. State we were sitting in level 2 right behind Michael Kelly's box where Coach and his family were watching the first quarter. Coach had his back to the court during a timeout and the cheerleaders fired a T-shirt into the stands toward us with a slingshot. The shirt hit Coach in the back of the head, and he just turned, smiled, and continued his conversation with MK like nothing happened. Cool dude.
Saw it happen - was quite humorous. The cheerleaders were doing quite well with the slingshot at that game, popping some shirts into the 200 level. Works much better than the Gatling-Gun type machine that keeps breaking down. We’re an AAU school now; time to get the mechanical engineering students to work on fixing it…lol

Good coach. FAMU game was tough and glad they did good this season. I’m not sure if USF beats them if CJS was still the coach.
I’m still wondering why their band wasn’t there. Some of my FAMU alumni friends were wondering the same…

We ALL have soap boxes. Without them, this would be no fun.
Thanks, but I enjoy reading the debates more than participating in them. There are a couple of things I do like to discuss, though. What I’m really looking forward to is seeing puc write a sentence longer than 75 words (I think that’s the record so far), AND have the sentence end with a preposition…lol

Yet USC and UCLA were selected by the BiG. Don't think stadiums factored in. Probably winning, tradition and TV markets.
Agree with your factors. However, those schools don’t share a stadium with an NFL team, so revenue sharing presumably wouldn’t be an issue.
Memphis didn’t get selected in the last round of conference realignment either. However, the City of Memphis is getting ready to transfer ownership of the Liberty Bowl to the University of Memphis. Why would the University accept ownership and future maintenance costs? To obtain additional revenues and control revenue streams? Just a thought.
I’m just speculating that stadium revenue sharing is a hurdle in conference realignment. But if it is, then how does USF solve that problem? Other than getting a really good lawyer to renegotiate the agreement with the TSA, it seems to me that the solution is to go find another place to play football.
I’ll get off the soap box now…Go Bulls

I think he stays. This team should be a top 25 team within the next two years. He is the guy at USF. Going to a Power 5 school can be tricky since you have to start from zero.
Of course it depends on the NIL money as well. He is really the only player besides Atkins on offense who performed as a top player throughout the season .A good chunk of the NIL money USF has assembled should be going to him. Power 5 schools usually divide up the NIL money among many players. Have a system at USF that if you play well you can make a descent amount of NIL money at USF the following season.
He has certainly earned it.
Same with Atkins
With his smile, Brown ought to be getting a great NIL deal from Aspen Dental or some other dentist…
Atkins should have been considered for the Heisman. Kid can throw, catch, and run!

An OCS makes them a hell of a lot more money. At RJS the Bucs and the TSA have their hands out first before USF gets their share of the profits.
Agree! And what conference is going to agree to have any revenues generated by said conference go first to the TSA or the Bucs?
I don’t think that it was a coincidence that the schools the Big 12 selected (BYU, UCF, Cincy, and Houston) had their own stadiums….

Sorry, I was out, but did anyone mention in the scouting report that the UTSA QB was old enough to be Byrum's uncle?
After 7 years in college, he should be working on his doctorate by now. Maybe he’s on the John “Bluto” Blutarsky degree plan (saw the movie again yesterday). Then again, as part of the hero-worship exercise from the ESPN announcers, they did mention that he might go into politics someday, so who knows?

So an injury? I don’t follow it close enough to know so I appreciate it.
I did ask Dad Puisis if he had any other children that played basketball. He said yes, then paused, smiled, and said that they were all older than her (Sammie). Had to ask…

Was at both games today. Can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I think that the men played better than the women. It’s usually the other way around. Lots of basketball left, and I by no means am an expert, but I’m just not seeing a conference/NCAA tournament team at this time. Those types of teams don’t give up a double-digit lead… In the pre-game talk, CJF said that someone on the team needs to become the leader in the locker room. That needs to happen soon. Otherwise, it’s the NIT (at best). I’m confident that CJF will get it figured out.

Reversed 1st Calvary Division patch
Correct - Good catch! It was authorized in theater as a combat patch by (then) MG Chiarelli when he was the Division Commander during OIF II. Made sense to me, as the horse was facing forward when worn on the right side of the uniform. Our course, since that made too much sense, DA wouldn’t allow it… Just some military trivia.

Darn, Slim, you got around! Good job!
Thanks for the comment. Proud to say that not only did I get my bachelor’s degree from USF, I also received my commission from the USF Army ROTC program. Had a great career! The patches were courtesy of my all-expense-paid trip (aka deployment) to Baghdad. Even got free room and board, transportation, and laundry service while there…lol
Will be curious to see if any Bullspenners notice the uniqueness of one of the patches.
Thanks to all the veterans for their service.

The kid is a baller! When his playing days are over, we need him back on campus as a GA and then the WR receivers coach. The gifted, entitled athletes that are studs during practice (but nowhere to be found on game day) could learn a lot about heart, grit, and determination from this guy. He could also help build on our history and tradition, as we’re still a young program.

Wings were good! Heard from staff that USF Athletics is making a concerted effort to upgrade the experience (my words). New lights in the arena were nice. The smoke effect when the players needs work. That being said, I’ll give USF credit for trying.
Lacrosse event tonight was fun. Kudos to Coach Brennen for showing up. Will be nice if the Lacrosse program can enjoy the same success that other women’s sports have enjoyed.
