. . in the long run?

Un-splashy, but winning seasons. Never quite to the level of THE major program. I hope so.

I respect the hell out of Stanford and they are one of my favorite teams over the last several years, so yes. I like toughness over flash.

Yeah, ask the golden boys of USC what they think of Stanford the last few years.

We are not in the SEC so that type of success would be a huge step upwards.

Neither is Stanford. For the most part they don't play great teams.

I know! I remember Gerhardt running up the middle all game on them and they couldn't do anything. Those Stanford vs. USC games were like appointment viewing for me.

Oh and their performance against Oregon this year shows how a real defense can slow down the splash. I hope we get back to those ways in the next couple of years.

I worked with a pair of twin MDs who were Stanford grads. When one of them told me about 10 years ago that Stanford had the winningest athletic department, across all sports, I didn't believe him. Sure enough...

My gfriend is a Stanford grad and told me the same thing (also a MD, maybe everyone who graduates from there is a DR)

I visited there this summer, amazing campus, I would never leave if I went there!

Thx,

jonpfl

I'll take a positive +/- ratio next season, to hell with Stanford success....baby steps. Hell, lets just make a bowl game.

Absolutely.

The original "USF-type success" left a lot to be desired. :FIREdevil:

I'm just happy we're bringing their offensive style here. Big strong qb's that can stand in the pocket and sling it, with a hard nose down hill runner is my kind of football.
