The answer is not smash mouth football. We need to run 90 plays a game. There is a reason Syracuse is now going to the uptempo offense. It works for doing what we need to do. We need to generate excitement for recruits. We need to be watched on tv by people outside of our conference. Boring is not going to cut it. This is the way we get to a point in our lifespan of a college football team to get players who can eventually evolve into a certain type of offense. Every one of you who says smash mouth football wins looks at the Sec as an example. Notre dame is a team built on defense this year but Brian kelly will eventually evolve that team into a highly potent offensive team. That is what he does. We would have to take 100 steps back before success installing that type of offense. We have the skill players to run an air raid attack. We can keep the qb we want if we run this type of offense.

In the final analysis I don't think USF will stop running the spread. Good point about the current WE/TE (when healthy). But for the spread to work at USF (and I mean win a Conf champ), we will need better talent (this years team was way overrated even with horrible coaching) and a coach who can get it done. In terms of coaching it will be a risk as we can't afford to hire anyone who has had direct success running the spread. Taggert may be one but lets face it, he will be a risk at this level. Perhaps one of the WVU 's assistants? But regardless in the end they could use the flying wedge, as long as they win a Conf champ I would be happy.

Thank you. Offense is what is going to get us out of the Big Least. Watch.

By the way, we DO have top tier talent at the WR/TE positions. As good or better than anyone in the BE.

It is the fasted way to bringing our school back to the LIMELIGHT..I promise you. USF needs to hire the best air attack head coach it can find. I swear even with our defense we can make huge improvements with a decent DC...Our conference is crap. We need to light up the score board. We can do it. Tulsa,Troy, Toledo...La Tech...they know it well. Noone is talking about these guys but they have top 30 offenses in college football.

Agreed that is why I said "when healthy". I do think some of the threes and fours were not as good as advertised but with Sterling back next year as well as the development of Andre we should be fine here. The TE position is still a question for me only because we really never used them, but it would appear they are good.

sean price is a freak and widely thought of as our best target by people i spoke too. I think he will be a focul point in the middle of the field next year for whatever coach we have. D'vo will be a weapon next year as well.

With the change, are they allowed to transfer w/o sitting out?

i figured you'd know the answer to that. I really hope that doesn't come into play. Wow didnt even really think about players leaving. I mean we couldnt afford to lose anyone on offense. I really think Mitchell needs to go back on defense and be on the other side of the field of bivins. We still have bivins on defense. We can get better on that side of the ball too.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
