Kicking Situation???

Any word / ideas on who CJL may put in at kicker instead of Alverado?  His post game comments made it sound like it was imminent.

Yeah and his pregame comments on the Jim Leavitt Show were about how hard they were working on special teams.

It occurred to me that Jim Leavitt/Special Teams are a lot like me and my weight. We both think about it a lot. We both want major change but unfortunately the result is pitiful. USF get worse and I get fatter. Sweet at least now I can sympathize with his utter incompetence at affecting change.

It scares me to death.  This isn't like the NFL where you can go pick up a free agent kicker.  Either we have a back up or not.  The more I hear and read, it looks like we are stuck with Delbert. 

He is trying his best and I am in no way trying to bash him, but the team needs a bit more consistency.  If he is the best we have and is doing his best, I can live with that (until recruiting season begins).

Is it just your guys' kicker that's been a problem or has it been all facets of the special teams?  Kansas had some kicker issues prior to the season but those seem to have calmed a bit and things have looked solid.  My only real  problem with KU's teams right now have been the kickoff team not flying down as much as I'd like and the fact that the kicker can't quite get it deep enough.  He only seems to be hitting it at the 10.

That's always been my reaction.

I know that CJL stands by his players, but how many games does Alverado have to affect with his poor kicking before we decide to WIN instead of be supportive..?

I think Maikon Bonani should get the first cracks this Friday.  We already know what we have in Delbert (very good punter but leaves a lot to be desired as a K) and honestly our field goal kicking can't be much worse than it is now.  The only way to know if hes the better option is to actually give him a shot in games.
