Appreciate that. Retracted mine, too. Give em an inch .....

What I don't understand is why we killed the clock when we could have tried a shot down field at the end of the 2nd half.  Not much risk with a lot of upside.  That IMO sends a signal that we have given up and not wanting to try to win.  Any thoughts as to why our coaching staff looked at this play differently?

Peatearpan tried to start a rational discussion of the game but it got infested early ….. admittedly he did kind of target the haters so it was probably to be expected.

My take is that these last two games are what most of us have been looking for, games where we’re not realistically out of it by halftime (a kind of pathetic target but we are what we are at this point in time). With 5 minutes to go in the third period, it was a tie game. Then, in the blink of an eye (less than 2 minutes), we’re down by 14 and everyone knew at that point we weren’t coming back, especially without GB. Marsh had some nice moments but he’s not Gerry.

Haven’t had a chance to watch replay yet, and not looking to officiating as an excuse, but just some clarification. Later in the game, Tulane had a long completion down the near sideline, sustaining a scoring drive, that sure looked like OPI in real time and also later in game when we’re trying to get anything going from fairly deep in our territory, there was a tackle on Battie that appeared to be a horse collar that would have been a little boost. Were we just imagining things?

And oh yeah, Boyles is a ******* warrior and really feel for him ….

It was a horse collar tackle and may have helped usf score one more touchdown but it was a momentum change. Biggest issue is our running game has disappeared when our passing game was discovered.

Boyles is good and hope he gets a shot in the NFL.

I'm assuming you mean 1st half and thinking the risk was far greater than the possible reward ...

Correct, I meant end of 1st half.

That doesn’t bother me so much… I mean one play - you can throw a Hail Mary but if it’s intercepted (or any sack or play, fumbled) and taken back for a TD, KNOWING they get the ball to start the third-quarter could you imagine the shitshow we’d have on our hands here?

Without quoting people, I don't quite get the defense was gassed excuse. They broke one run for 80 yards, got a turnover, and scored again immediately. 62 seconds isn't time to get gassed.

I don't think those 2 plays are indicative of why that was said. The overall play count was 87 to 51. Those type numbers don't bode well for any defense, much less one dealing with injuries to key personnel ....

Maybe by the 4th quarter but I may have been gone by then. Those 2 plays broke the spirit IMO and nothing to do with being gassed. But, then, I'm a bitter old man at this point when it comes to USF football.
